Under boob sweat chaffing 🫣

Posting in AIBU because in all seriousness, where do I post about under boob sweat 😅

I'm a curvy woman who is currently breastfeeding and still carrying a bit extra weight after giving birth. I have to wear a bra 24/7 due to leaking but with this heat I am struggling!
Went for a lovely family walk yesterday and my bra has destroyed me, it was super warm I was sweating and I have a big bust. The chub rub is sore. I would normally just go braless for a little to help it heal but that's not an option at the moment.

Any suggestions to help it heal faster/better even with a constant sweaty bra on? Sorry for TMI. Or any way of preventing it happening again? I use talc normally but this weather is too much. Its on the top of my stomach and the underneath part of my boobs. I've just put a soft sports bra on for now.

I use this:

Mistry's Calendula Powder 150g - Natural Plant Based Powder for Wounds and Skin Irritation - Additive Free, Vegan

It's £8 on Amazon, and I don't know why it works, but it works. I have large FF boobs and I get sores occasionally underneath on of them (why just one of them?). I pop this on before bed, and in the morning they are absolutely fine for another few months. I call it my miracle powder.

teksquad · 19/06/2025 09:50

sympathies, i used to get exactly this. I use 'lightly medicated body piwder' feom boits or superdrug now and out it on in the morning before my bra which completely stops it happening.

CatsorDogsrule · 19/06/2025 09:59

I use a sock under each boob to absorb sweat and keep the bra dry! Less bulky than a muslin cloth, easy to whip out and change if needed, and I have lots of spare socks in varying colours to match my bra. Also, no embarrassment at possibly explaining to DH what it is for if he sees an abandoned one on the bedroom/ bathroom floor! (Not that he'd question it, but you never know.)

I agree with the canesten cream/ antifungal shampoo ideas. A dab of hydrocortisone might also help it heal.

I get under boob sweat and have recently started using the new All over body deodorant under them and it really helps!

Lampzade · 19/06/2025 10:06

I use roll on deodorant daily . I do not have any issues with sweating under my boobs

Bowling4soup · 19/06/2025 10:07

I spray antiperspirant. Also use loads of that medicated talc to keep it dry

Seeline · 19/06/2025 10:46

I don't know how some of you are getting muslins, socks and sanitary towels under your bras! There is no way I could fit anything like that under mine. Maybe your bras are too big and that is partly the cause of the rubbing?

waxymoron · 19/06/2025 10:49

Sudocrem! I'm 'old' and hate wearing bras at home so get this a lot. Started putting sudocrem on a couple of sweaty days ago and it really seems to help!

MissDoubleU · 19/06/2025 13:00

Once it’s healed up talc is a dream. Talc up those boobs any time it’s warm! 38HH here 👋🏻 and talc saves my life.

Nutsabouttopic · 19/06/2025 13:04

Panty liners are your new best friend. Keep a box in the fridge. Put one in each cup using the sticky strip to stick them to the edge of your bra. They absorb any sweat so prevent sores developing. I usually use a deodorant or talc under my boob's too.

dontcomeatme · 19/06/2025 13:17

These big boobs are clearly nothing but a pain!
I'm definitely going to try the panty liner trick, and currently looking at the chafing sticks on amazon, thankfully have prime so should help with the heatwave tomorrow.
I use talc every day, but these nursing bras have such a thick band on the bottom, no wires. They are super comfortably but quite thick material and BIG 😅 there was no escaping the sweat yesterday x

@dontcomeatme Do you keep the same bra on overnight, or do you change into a fresh one before bed? If it was me (whilst still breast feeding / leaking) I would wash & dry under-boob area at night then put a fresh one on. And do the same under-boob wash in the morning, and another fresh bra for the day.

burblish · 19/06/2025 13:31

I bought cotton bra liners from Amazon - like a long strip of cloth that you place under your boobs and then, when you put your bra on, they act as a sweat-absorbing and anti-chafing layer between your skin and bra (and also cushion your underwiring slightly, making your bra feel more comfortable). I now use them all year round because they make my industrially engineered bras more comfortable! I also spray a little antiperspirant under my breasts in the summer, but you could also try a roll on creme deodorant. I am honestly evangelical about the bra liners since I started using them, though! The best are ones which are shaped to have an extra bit of cloth that sticks up the middle to fit between your breasts.

dontcomeatme · 19/06/2025 13:33

@Stouferi wear the nursing bra during the day, then wash and talc and wear a sports bralette for bed! I couldn't keep up with the washing of nursing bras day and night, I was using 14 a week easy 🤦🏻‍♀️ the joys x

I have also recently bought some bra liners, was about £9 for 6 and so far they have really helped

user1471505494 · 19/06/2025 13:38

Wash, dry with a hair dryer and apply Daktarin medicated talc. I found creams made it worse

RosesAndHellebores · 19/06/2025 13:39

I get this - it's called intertrigo I think
Cannesten
Sensitive soap and wash daily, dry well
A little baby powder

All the above if it flares. I find a clean bra every day stops it flaring. Wearing a bra twice and it flares

Feelingleftoutagain · 19/06/2025 13:46

There's a new deodorant stick that you can use anywhere on your body, as a fellow under boobs soreness sufferer, this product really really works, I think it's from Sure but it's a green stick and not that expensive x

dcadmamagain · 19/06/2025 13:46

Once healed liquid talc ( baby aisle in asda!) stops all sweat

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 19/06/2025 13:47

Cane stem or similar. I’d stay away from baby powder, now it’s subject of a law suit.

teksquad · 19/06/2025 13:55

That's talc. The baby powder and medicated powder isnt made of talc anymore, for that reason.

SnowdropsBlooming · 19/06/2025 16:19

I find that the bras really do have to have underwires to keep the boobs up enough to not sweat/chafe/rub. The wires might not be the most comfortable but they are a hell of a lot better than the open sores I get otherwise!!

dontcomeatme · 19/06/2025 16:38

@SnowdropsBloomingsee I found the nursing bras with underwire really uncomfortable! These ones have a wide elastic band around the bottom almost like sports bra. But I think that's contributing to the issue x
