Would you go to Cyprus

Due to go to Cyprus mid August. Would you go? Seeing stuff on the news that is worrying me but no idea whether it’s just the media scaremongering.

No due to the temperature

ayepecking · 24/06/2025 21:29

We cancelled Cyprus once before (think about 10 years ago). Can't remember the world situation but were worried enough to lose the holiday we'd paid for. Nothing happened luckily.

What does everyone think now a few days have gone by? Would you still go?

Yes. Still am going.

WingSlutz · 24/06/2025 21:33

No but only because we went last year and it was too hot 😂

imcountingtothree123 · 24/06/2025 21:34

Thanks, that’s reassuring.

a few people keep mentioning the weather for some reason 😂 not really anything to do with this post!

I would say Cyprus is still safe but you have to be prepared that flights may be delayed / diverted.

So potentially stock up on lots of water and food for your flight to / from there for everyone in your group and make sure there's power banks to keep devices going or some form of entertainment for your group (sometimes routine flights can run out of food /drink and if that's the case and your in the air not much can be done) ( just heard today a flight from Perth is Oz to Paris has to turn back as it hit the middle east due to missiles and it was 15 hours of going nowhere for the poor passengers )

Keep an eye on the FCO travel information up to the time you leave and have some good travel insurance (worst worst case scenario if they were effected badly would be foreign nationals out to Greece/ Turkey on boats and flights from there back to UK)

No because of the tarantula thread here from the other night

Missed that. Did someone hang washing out at night there?

NImumconfused · 27/06/2025 22:51

We're in Cyprus at the moment - no sign of any impact from the conflict, it all seems very normal. Thankfully no sign of any tarantulas either!

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 08/07/2025 13:50

Here right now - no tarantulas so far but oh my goodness the giant millipedes that suddenly go absolutely bonkers and seem to expand to twice their girth when you try to move them
from your room. They are ENRAGED and skuttle around like something from a horror movie. Almost wishing a tarantula would appear and eat them.

Same here! I had no idea that there are tarantulas in Cyprus.

No - if my memory serves me right it was on the kitchen work surface …
