Ok so new neighbours just moved In .. it’s a sunny day as you know everyone has windows open they decided to maybe christen the house by having really loud sex .. ok fair enough they are having fun .and then again just now full on screaming and crying ( her ,you get the idea ) he’s obviously slapping her ass as you can hear everything as the windows are open and so
are all the neighbour’s .. tbh I feel pissed off I don’t want to hear it .. oh God they’re doing it again .. I can’t not have the windows open am I being a knob ??

Yell “She’s faking it!” at the top of your voice. Tell them you’ve seen all of their movies and have told all the neighbours whilst giving a lascivious wink.

Play "Let's get it on" really really loud.

They'd like that though no doubt, people like this get off on knowing they are being heard.

Best response is ridicule imo. Take the piss, laugh loudly then a note through the door saying their grunts and shrieks are upsetting the kids they keep thinking there's a poorly animal that needs help somewhere.

amooseymoomum · 18/06/2025 12:16

i think some people are exhibitionists, and this weather with windows open is the ideal time.
Ideally, speak to them easier with new neighbors.

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 18/06/2025 12:25

Hose on full power, right through the bedroom window - just like you would if it were a pair of randy cats in the garden.

OhCalmTheFuckDownMargaret · 18/06/2025 07:19

You honestly think your kids are never going to hear you at it and realise what you're doing? Unless of course you use a ball gag...

Wtf??? Your kids should never be able to hear you have sex!! I can't believe you think that's normal!!!

Why is it always the case on Mumsnet that every poster bristles and recoils at the notion of noisy sex , and strongly advises people to retaliate with petty loud music etc..

But we never see this same energy when it comes to other noisy neighbour disputes?

Is there something about this particular sound which sets off righteous rage here?

I mean @Lala721 you really broke down in detail the crying and slapping etc… as if the type of noisy sex they were having was offensive

What is it with Mumsnet? So many prudes, so little time.

When it's louder than Last night at the Proms I think the neighbours have got a right to be irritated. It does matter if it's sex, karaoke, whatever. We don't need to be an audience for a full scale performance.

I've been the receiving end of pain in the arse noisy neighbours I'm not inclined to be particularly tolerant.

nam3c4ang3 · 18/06/2025 12:48

im a bit concerned she is crying 😂

Elandelephant · 18/06/2025 13:36

I'd let it go this time as they've just moved in and probably haven't realised their windows are open and got swept up in the moment but if it persists and the neighbours seem reasonable i'd probably light-heartedly suggest they close their windows when having sex, and make a joke out of it so they don't feel too embarrassed

I never heard my parents have sex. My husband never heard his parents have sex. As far as I know none of my friends have heard their parents have sex.

Allowing children to hear you have sex is very wrong. Obviously an accident if they were teens and came home early might happen because you weren’t aware. But basically shrugging as if it’s inevitable is just wrong. If you can’t keep quiet enough for your kids not to hear then you don’t have sex.

Stravaig · 18/06/2025 14:11

Of course it's not okay. Done knowingly, repeatedly, it's the auditory version of indecent exposure, a deliberate sexual violation intended to shock, harrass, or bully all those who are forced to hear.

True for current day standards. Though historically most families lived in one or two room dwellings and it would be very obvious it was going on back in the old days. Grim.

Duckduck2 · 18/06/2025 10:19

Nope mine have never heard me have sex👍🏼

Is that because you don’t? 😂

MsDDxx · 18/06/2025 14:46

CountryQueen · 18/06/2025 10:26

You have sex knowing your children can hear you and think that’s ok? Fucking grim.

That’s not what they are saying.

I’m sure my mum tried her best to be quiet - I heard them at it occasionally. Same with siblings.

SensitiveOverthinker · 18/06/2025 15:54

MayaPinion · 18/06/2025 06:50

Or shout, ‘SHE’S FAKING IT’ really loudly, or ‘WRONG HOLE, TREVOR’.

This made me really laugh

UndermyShoeJoe · 18/06/2025 16:00

Tenacious D fuck her gently. If there are hopefully no children around.

I wanna have sex on the beach. Let’s get it on.

Everytime loudly.

Or drop a note though the door that you can hear.

Technically you can report it as a noise violation. Someone who I went to school with, their mum ended up in the papers with an anti social behaviour order due to her neighbours complaints about her loud sex.

BeMellowAquaSquid · 18/06/2025 16:05

I hope this wasn't me we've just moved house…

Voyager54 · 18/06/2025 16:07

Quite a few years ago we lived next door to a married couple and we could hear them have sex loudly.
Next time they were in the local pub which was a short distance we laughed it off between us that they had a great time the other night.
They in turn remarked they heard us a few days before.

I mean do you shout and cry and your dh slap your arse hard with your window open…

It could just be 😅😬

How cringeworthy! So even though you'd heard them whooping and grunting very loudly you did the same? Were there any kids in the house Confused.

ByPeachScroller · 18/06/2025 16:21

Gross. And probably deliberate.

I think it might have been him crying over my credit card bill

ContraryNoodle · 18/06/2025 17:16

Leave a note asking if she could stop faking her orgasm and add that you apologise if it was an exorcism...

Your mum did not “try her best” and unless you are that poster you have no idea what they meant.

It is fucking vile and sexual exploitation of children knowing that you are exposing them to sexual activity. If you can’t shut up then don’t have sex with children around. Disgusting

tripleginandtonic · 18/06/2025 19:54

I just laughed when next door were at it with the window open. Kids won't know what they're up to unless you tell them surely?

Letskeepcalm · 18/06/2025 20:08

Maowt · 18/06/2025 07:01

Really? I’ve seen plenty of threads where people get told to aim a speaker against the shared wall blasting something like opera and go out all day. The only time I’ve seen people say not to do this is when the noise involves children with SEN who make noise.

The other reason is, sex is a private thing. We are taught from a young age that are sexual body parts are private. We are taught sex is not a public act. We have laws against people having sex in public. So strangely enough, no one wants to hear these private acts in public. The same as going to the toilet. It’s private. No one wants to see or hear their neighbours having a shit either. If the neighbour was in his loo with the window open straining and groaning then saying what an amazing shit he was having I think people would suggest music as well!

Do you think sex and masturbation should be allowed in public? Is that why you think everyone who doesn’t want to hear other people doing it are prudes?

Well said 👏
