Neighbour not happy with my fence?

chcocooo · 12/06/2025 08:20

So basically after months of neighbours kids:

Playing-on my drive
Trespassing on my drive
Chucking footballs at my living room window.
Constantly standing by my living room window
Shouting and waking my toddlers up.

I finally got a fence installed on Monday which has solved all the issues.

But now my neighbour will apparently struggle to fit two cars on her drive as before the man and his partner would park close on the boundary and his door would open on my bit.
He has asked if I could move the fence further on my bit but it will impact my own ability to have 2 cars on my drive.

AIBU to decline this as it’s on my own drive?

OP posts:

Echoing what others have said. Do not move that fence.

the cheek of them for just mentioning this is astonishing.

They brought it onto themselves. Tough luck.

Good for you for finding a solution

OchAyeTheNo0 · 12/06/2025 19:58

Why on earth would you pay to move a fence that’s on the boundary line to give them more of your land so they can open their car door but you can’t?

cf’s!

myheadsjustmush · 12/06/2025 19:17

Good for you Op - you keep that fence and don't move it. Ever!

It's tough $h!t for your neighbours - they should have taught their kids to be more respectful of your property and privacy.

Now it is their turn to be inconvenienced......what a shame 😂

<<listens for the tiniest of violins playing>>

I think the g-string on the tiny 🎻 snapped! Tough ( . )( . ) CFer neighbours!!

If they had controlled the children in the first place this wouldn’t have happened so it’s their own fault

Yes, this is a classic case of consequences. OP would not have put the fence up if their kids been controlled properly. They could have carried on driving into their driveway and opening their driver’s door easily. Now they will need to reverse on. Tough.

Hi yes I did try and tell the parents and the kids many times about this.
The parents would just stand and watch their kids walk all over my plants and looking into my windows.

They sound like a bunch of chumpfuckers OP. Enjoy your fence and the subsequent peace.

Mintsj · 12/06/2025 20:17

They brought this on themselves because they behaved like cunts.

Sorry no, I can’t move the fence as I need all of my land.

Sunnyevenings · 12/06/2025 20:20

I'd have built a wall tbh. Failing that place rocks all the way inside your small boundary fence because I would think they will move/damage your fence. They will blame it on a delivery driver/workman/accident by kids.

Maintain your no.

Unfortunately, some people understand what they have only when it is taken away. Now they can keep their kids and not be able to park…

Or maybe a door ring could do.

A footage of the damage is enough.

Ladygardenerderby · 12/06/2025 20:34

👏🙌🙌 well done long as it’s on your boundary bugger them . There are some CF’s about

Allofthelightss · 12/06/2025 20:35

I had to put hedging at my border to stop next doors dog taking its daily crap on my front lawn. I was beginning to tire of picking it up and placing on their own drive. Problem is now solved. Some people just don’t care who they inconvenience.

Shesellsseashellsnotinmystreet · 12/06/2025 20:39

Google tells me No is actually a complete sentence - to the doubter....

AI got something wrong today when I asked it. So not always right.

I asked for a 6 foot fence panel(1 panel) to my front. They at first declined and said I would need planning permission. Then planning permission told the council that that is not necessary for a fence panel and it's just at their discretion on whether to allow permission for this. I didn't put it up in the end as I could see it causing a massive issue with neighbour that legally may mean I paid out for it to then be removed. I kept my hedge which can grow above 6 foot legally.

I wish my neighbour (other side) would dig their trees up. They weren't satisfied with putting up the fence.

That black pipe is my gas boiler flue. The branches are longer now and spread over my wheelchair ramp.

Neighbour not happy with my fence?
Summercocktailsgalore · 12/06/2025 20:53

So he wants you to basically give part f your land to them - as if you moved your fence more on your land, you cannot use those inches the other side of your fence, but they can.

do you wise to donate land you paid for to neighbours? Do you wish to make your parking more difficult to suit others?

only BU I can see is you even thinking about it,

PeapodMcgee · 12/06/2025 21:02

As long as they don't make holes in it with their car doors 😂

Legally, you can cut back their trees to the boundary. You can then ask them if they want the clippings or whether to dispose of them.
This is if you are capable of course. I dont want to assume either way, but you said you have a wheelchair ramp, so erring on side of caution.

NotDarkGothicMama · 12/06/2025 21:05

YANBU. They were CFs and are now facing the inconvenient consequences of their own lack of consideration.

Dog crapping is one thing... owner not picking it up is a total other thing!

TalkToTheHand123 · 12/06/2025 21:30

I'd raise a glass, have a good giggle and stick figers up in their direction.

Ibelievetheworldisburningtotheground · 12/06/2025 21:49

FAFO, as they say.

They refused to deal with their children's intrusive, destructive behaviour despite repeated requests. And she's now even acknowledge she would hate it if your kids were doing the same to her house and waking up her toddlers.

YANBU in the slightest.

It got something wrong with me too, but it was when it just began. I had first hand knowledge of something which had happened a few years ago, and I asked a connecting question and Ai said never.

So I managed somehow to get it deleted off google. I am still not quite sure how.

Now a few fat prickly bushes would stop that. Perhaps a deep mud bath might do the trick too, especially if it has green algae on top.

... and it might encourage a few toads and water loving creatures.

I know I can legally do that, in fact TVP told me on the phone last October that if I choose not to exercise that right it is my own fault if the flue gets blocked.

He turned a deaf ear to the fact that I am a wheelchair user - not paraplegic or tied to it, but nonetheless I cannot stand for long, yet alone cut a branch back.
The trunks of the trees were planted against my fence which they took down.

The 10" sticks of vegetation in the flue did not get through a couple of inches by itself.
The neighbour has cut off all access to it.

The trees are now over 50 foot and cannot be cut back to the boundary anyway without lowering the height.
The ones planted over the drain have trunks which are pushing the fence toward me and the problem there is that to cut them back would kill the tree.

Crunch came a few months ago when they had their side cut - and it must have cost a fortune. Immagine trying to prune a 50 foot hedge! - and when the man they hired had finished, he came round to me and said for a price he would cut my side! My carer (£25 an hour so nothing left for tree cutters) couldn't believe it. When I pointed to the branch which was touching the main roof he agreed to cut just that one, and WOULDN'T CHARGE FOR IT.

And the police say it isn't hate.
