AIBU to feel sorry for Wynne Evans?

He has NO clue.

Watched his interview on breakfast tv, explaining away all the misunderstandings, jokes and social experiments he was involved in which resulted in his BBC contract 'not being renewed '.

He played all the cards, mental health, dead brother, context, editing.

Of course he was in the studio to promote his latest venture, hoping to drum up interest.

Why do so many people ruin the amazing chances they're given? Baffling.

The defense for this man on here is shocking. Also will people stop suggesting Katya was in on this all along and understand that the creep won, the BBC tried to minimise it and she was submissive and did what she was told to keep her job. Katya had already brought the press to Strictly with her cheating and had to go along with whatever the BBC told her to.

WE behaved appallingly and the BBC, again, didn’t step up and protect their female employee but merely made her smile and nod her head through fear.

This is totally correct. Add to the mix, this Strictly season was coming off the back of major issues for female dancers. BBC could not afford for this to happen again, it would have been the end of the show, because they promised they had made it so these things can’t happen.

If this was merely a joke, played out in front of the cameras, then any willing participant deserves their contract to be cancelled. Anyone could predict it would lead to negative press and social media attention, particularly because of the previous scandals. As a show regular, Katya must have known that and if she was part of it, she shouldn’t be asked back. From the BBC’s point of view though, firing him makes a cleaner break because if they fired her, all she has to do is go public saying she was the victim. If he thinks that’s an appropriate way to behave, even in jest, in front of the cameras at that time, he is a risk to the BBC and deserves to be fired whether it was a joke or not.

People find it hard to accept that have been manipulated by WE some will view this as a weakness

its isn't a weakness we can all be manipulated this is how he operates, as I mentioned before as so many sexual predatory and bullying men do

We've had a discussion about celebrity perv off, he's been called a sex pest and a predator.

People are declaring that Katya is lying to cover up for him, so that she keeps her job.

People are accusing him of cheating on his girlfriend, of keeping his money from his ex-wife.

He hasn't been sacked by the BBC, he's not had his contract renewed. I don't care if he can't work for the BBC any more, that's proportional to what he's done.

All I'm saying is let's criticise the things we do know, and not try to fill in the blanks. Partly because those statements are legally questionable on a public forum, and partly because it's morally dubious. People kill themselves over things like this, and people need to bear that in mind.

My post about his alleged finances WERE based on knowledge not conjecture

I just think the media and the BBC have been the manipulative ones - not Evans.

If he had killed himself, I wonder what backlash there would have been, and whatever mistakes he's made he doesn't deserve to be made to feel that way.

Just think of poor Caroline Flack.

Some very good points above RE media and MH!

I just don't agree that Evans has done anything wrong except being stupid by playing about with pranks with Katya and Jamie, and not realising the connotations of his choice of words. His contract not being renewed probably fits that behaviour, on reflection.

But he doesn't deserve to be labelled a disgusting creep and put into the same box as sexual predators and offenders. It's a scale and I agree with PP.

But we're all allowed different opinions - it's been interesting to see the different interpretations on the thread!

Very well said, a brilliant post.

The Telegraph has a brilliant review of his show with comments that give more balance compared with the fawning stuff on his own social media;

Burning your boats in the industry isn't the brightest idea and if he thinks the BBC will come running back, he's very seriously delusional.

Not read whole thread, but re. people saying Katya didn't complain, etc - she's still not fully recovered reputation-wise from that whole kiss debacle. I'd say the last thing she'd want would be to be at the centre of another scandal. Whatever her personal feelings, I'd have been astonished if she'd made a song and dance (no pun intended!) about it all.

Jumping back on this again....

Wynne Evans and fiancée have split up. It happened a few weeks ago but the papers have only just published a few days ago. I guess they had no evidence, but now they've unfollowed each other and his engagement post is gone, they can now speculate. I'm glad she knows the truth about him and had a lucky escape.
