Is it weird to share a hotel room with only a double bed with a small child

Was hoping to book a stay in one of the center parks hotels with my son who is seven. All the twin rooms have gone but there are still some with only a double bed left. Would it be weird for us to get that one?

Of course it’s not weird!

Maray1967 · 07/06/2025 08:29

Not at that age, no. I’d have shared a double with either of my sons at 7. In fact, DS2 was still sneaking into ours occasionally at that age …

Whatifitallgoesright · 07/06/2025 08:29

Not at all. Go ahead and have a lovely time.

RareMaker · 07/06/2025 08:30

I do with mine all the times. No issue

Leapintothelightning · 07/06/2025 08:30

Of course not! Any time I go away for a night with DD we share a double bed. She’s 5 but I imagine we’ll still do it when she’s 7. We went on a cruise last year and all 4 of us shared a bed!

LadyInRainbow · 07/06/2025 08:30

Of course not he’s 7 not 17 does at that age most kids will still come in and share if they are ill, have a nightmare or just cos they want to.

fruitbrewhaha · 07/06/2025 08:30

No it’s fine. I’ve done it with one of my dds when she was about 6. She fell asleep while I read a book for a while. It was nice x

Fingerpie · 07/06/2025 08:31

If the room has capacity for three they will provide a bed

or are you planning on sneaking him in?!

dontforgetme · 07/06/2025 08:31

We’ve done this before! Besides my just turned 8 year old still creeps into my bed some nights so it’s just like being at home! Have a lovely break op.

Fingerpie · 07/06/2025 08:31

Wait this is just you and your child??!

I can’t believe you’re asking!
I love the opportunity to share with mine on holiday! And they’re much older than a small child!!

0804uklfm · 07/06/2025 08:32

Yes, just me and my kid. DH isnt going away with us that week.

I still share with my teen DD if needed. What's the issue?

BethDuttonYeHaw · 07/06/2025 08:35

Of course not. Sometimes I share with my teenager.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 07/06/2025 08:35

Well my 6 year old comes in our bed most nights still. Totally fine!

Psychologymam · 07/06/2025 08:37

It’s weird that you are asking! Is there a back story?

chipsandpeas · 07/06/2025 08:40

how the fuck is sharing a bed with your own child weird????

usedtobeaylis · 07/06/2025 08:41

Not weird. My daughter is just turning 10 and I always book a double when it's just me and her going somewhere. We bedshare in general though, I can understand why you might be unsure if you don't. But it's not weird!

minnienono · 07/06/2025 08:42

No but check policy, that may be over occupancy

DappledThings · 07/06/2025 08:43

Why would it be weird? We have 2 nights in a family room next weekend; a double and 2 singles. We've already decided the best way we will all get good sleep is if DH and DS take the singles and I share tje double with DD.

DH got kicked out to the spare room at 2am the other day when DS wet his bed and came in with me.

It's so normal that only asking if it is weird is weird

ThatJollyGreySquid · 07/06/2025 08:44

Of course it’s not weird. It’s more weird to ask if it’s weird! I still occasionally share a double with my DD now if we go away or I stay with her at Uni, and she’s 20. I definitely shared a bed with DS at 7.

Fingerpie · 07/06/2025 08:45

I can’t imagine what’s happened to you or how you grew up Op for you to even think this might be “weird”

No not weird at all. Why do you think it would be?

0804uklfm · 07/06/2025 08:46

So it's less whether it would be weird but wasnt sure whether say Center parks would think it's weird. Anyway, clearly it wouldnt be.

It can't be over occupacy as it's Just op and her child.
