I bought an M+S beauty bag out of sympathy for them...well sort of.

I do like a bargain and I also like shopping, so not saying there was nothing in the act for me.

Im sorting towels and bed linen today.

Where is Dullmary when you need her?

Dullmary will be busy doing something really fun.

gingercat02 · 07/06/2025 17:11

All sold out in my local shop 😪
Had a very unsuccessful afternoon. Called in to see my mum, she was out, went to M&S, no beauty bags and the dine in for 4 looked crap unless you want 4 different potato based sides!
Went to Sainsbury's for gammon steaks and wine instead, so not a total wash out.

Email at 15.04 from Markie's:

"Our stores are open as usual while online orders remain paused
The summer beauty bag
It’s back and it’s better than ever. Featuring two products from soon-to-launch Estée Lauder, plus nine other must-haves to see you through summer. Yours for only £35. Available in store now."

A wee bit late...or have they seen your thread?

They better not be copy catting me.

You go out of your way to buy their product in order to support them and what's your reward? Being stalked by M&S! 😠

Neveranynamesleft · 07/06/2025 17:23

Dullmary is probably out on the hunt for a beauty bag.

Urgent query (well, not really urgent but I'd like to know without having to trek into town).

Can you order stuff in store to be delivered to you at home or to be delivered in to the store at the moment? The lack of online shopping is a pain.

Is my question so dull that it's being ignored or am I being boycotted for being off topic? I promise to buy some more preserved lemons if someone answers me query.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/06/2025 17:25

There were millions in Birmingham today, with a nice lady desperately trying to flog them. I resisted it.

Actually she has just messaged me. You are right. She is neatening up her cutlery drawer

Best not disturb her too much. She probably wants to just relax and enjoy this activity.

I would never ignore you, I answered at about 2.30

I know that in the fast paced, urgent excitement of the thread you probably missed it.

Oh dear. Now I'm mortified. I will blame the phone as it sometimes goes to the end of a page rather than the first unread message.

Thank you so much for your response and I am so sorry I doubted you. I should have known that anyone with a jar of preserved lemons and a tendency to leave things at the bottom of the stairs for extended periods of time would never ignore me.

Damnity damn re the in-store ordering. They won't have what I need in the local store (it's small) and it is way cheaper there than anywhere else locally.

God damn it, M&S. What's wrong with a bit of paper and a pencil to note down an order over the phone.

It's their own fault for going all fancy and trying to run a website. Stick to what you know: packed lunches and underpants. And their own brand bathroom cleaning spray.(or obviously preserved lemons if you have run out of the spray).

soupyspoon · 07/06/2025 19:37

They peaked with the prawn cocktail sandwich I think

Its been downhill since then.

Have I joined a cult? I bought the preserved lemons. Today, I also bought the beauty bag. Last one in the store they told me. Other than this thread, I had no reasons to want one. I am not fond of rubbing unguents into my skin. It is greasy enough already.

The butter beans with olive oil/ parsley/ garlic/ preserved lemon mush were nice though.

Quirkswork · 07/06/2025 20:00

Agreed and Coronation chicken.

I 've noticed they've been fiddling around a lot with the wraps. Adding eg kimchi or Mexican beans. The hacking people may have just had enough and thought right M&S..no more tinkering or we bring the whole place down. Can't say for sure as we haven't seen the ransom note. If it mentions prawn cocktail though.....

Ajhmaialnntdoan · 07/06/2025 20:51

Where's a photo of it to see what you bought. But what is meant by the post about buying something in a shop. I bought some cat food in Home Bargains and some cat toys in B&M today

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 07/06/2025 21:33

I last went into M&S in the 1980s to buy a veggie chilli ready meal bc my DGM who I was raised by was volunteering and I was on my way home from college.

It reminds me that their best sandwich is actually a Wensleydale, carrot chutney and watercress. I dont think they repeated it, or did they?

I would hold them to ransom personally if I found out they werent doing this anymore.

They still sell the wensleydale and carrot sandwich it is by far the nicest sandwich. I had one last week.

soupyspoon · 08/06/2025 12:51

Ive been out to Home Bargains and Lidl today

I can go low brow when necessary.

Although I said this in Lidl 'I cant believe they havent got any tahini'.

Then I found some in the reduced section.

Our Indian “takeaway” from M&S was quite good on Friday night. The Big Daddy chocolate bar on the other hand was not……

I like the sound of the Wensleydale sandwich….. wonder if they’d change a bar of The Big Daddy chocolate with a bit cut off for a sandwich?
