By “thing” - I don’t mean people. I’m sure there are people from our childhoods that we would all want to bring back more than any “thing” in the world.

The thing that I would bring back would be tinned Spaghetti Hoops with Hotdogs in Smokey-Bacon Sauce by Heinz.

Best thing ever in the 90s IMHO!

80s ads were the 👌 best.

Loads of YouTube videos with them all in - many hours of wasted time!

I've just noticed its gone this evening - I liked that a lot.
Why'd it go?

Apparently people were using it to laugh at the comments made - which was surely the point? Theres a thread under 'site matters'

I thought it was excellent!

Hazelnut creams (a pale pink fondant with a hazelnut stuck in the top).

Lindajonesjustcantlivemylife · 07/06/2025 06:10

Thought of another original walnut whip.
Chuck the walnut, bite the top off ,lick out the filling, then munch the thick chocolate base..mmmm😋

Yes! Also loved the coffee walnut whip

KFC Hickory Chick flavour chicken rather than the original recipe. For years I've thought I imagined it as I could find any online reference to it... But just googled it again and found a 90s ad for it! I loved it and was so disappointed when it stopped being offered!

Peaks (Class 45 & 46 railway locomotives)
The 1955 Manxman (Isle of man ferry used in Yentl & A Night to Remember)
P&A Campbell paddle steamer Bristol Queen

The Manxman takes me back. We used if for our school trips, Liverpool to IOM, complete with disco. The style of seating was never to be repeated. I'd add in the trains of my childhood and the availability of public transport.

Going into town for a day out, even with no money. Primary children, free on the bus. There were working water fountains over summer, ships/boats/ferries to watch at the pier head. Over Winter we had George Henry Lee, Blacklers, TJHughes and the Early Learning Center (later the Disney shop) to sample toys. Rapid Hardware for the Christmas lights. It's £10 return into town with my GC now and no real shops, unless clothes shopping and even then you end up ordering online because of low stock levels

Myblueclematis · 07/06/2025 10:38

I'm sure I'm not making this up but around Christmas time, probably 60s or 70s, Cadbury's used to make a large bar of chocolate with brazil nuts in it. I think mum used to buy it for my dad as he was a big nut lover.

Full sugar ribena. Old salt
and vinegar Discos, that were so sharp and salty and the taste just is not the same now.
‘Secret’ chocolate bar that Cadburys did.

Woolies pick and mix. Woolies everything 😩

Edited

Came on to say salt n vinegar ringos!

Me- the plain chocolate bounty.

My dbrother would bring back the original Flake advert. "Only the crumbliest flakiest chocolate....." accompanied by long legged dusky brunette.

Those were the days when people ate food on ads in a way that made it look appealing. It wasn't just that the model looked attractive, although she did. I'm reminded of this whenever I see the Magnum where the woman frightens her cat by taking a huge crunchy bite of her ice cream. The next bit is gross as they show her eating an overfull gob of Magnum. Gives me the ick

This 👌

Ironic given I’m using mine now I know!

Easy access to GPs and dentists.
Regular and frequest buses.
Simple parking charges-not hundreds of parking apps.
Space, everywhere is crowded- housing estates, hospitals, roads. My dad used to take us swimming on a Saturday afternoon the pool was nearly always empty apart from us.

DamnedIfIDoDamnedIfIDont · 07/06/2025 19:22

Heinz spaghetti in tomato and cheese sauce

Cattenberg · 08/06/2025 00:54

@MrsPositivity1 Ah, Old Jamaica chocolate! I had vague memories of the chocolate my dad liked, with a ship on the packaging, but couldn't remember the name.

ToWhitToWhoo · 08/06/2025 13:43

The view that it's rude to comment on an adult's age. Celebrating adult birthdays just as birthdays, without all these age-related 'big' 'milestone' birthdays.

Tizer

You can still buy tizer but, if like me you have happy memories of it, don't. It's revolting. Really, really revolting.

Reliablesource · 02/08/2025 13:56

Heinz Toast Toppers. As young teens, we loved doing these for Saturday lunch and thought we were cooking! The pizza flavour one was my favourite.

Also: Sherbet Fountains in the old paper packaging. The modern plastic wrapping is horrible and they taste nasty now.

Chocolate Garibaldis.

Sugar Puffs.

At last! Someone else who remembers chocolate Garibaldis!

I've spent decades being told I've imagined them.

Wait, what?! I loved garibaldi biscuits but never knew there was a chocolate version! Did they have currants in them?
