Saw her last week. Good fun. I missed the opportunity to wear my glittery Christmas dress though.

We all know she has legs that go on for days and likes to show them off (so would I if I had them!). At various points during the show she had to bend over (dropped something and so on). Every single time, at least one man wolf whistled. One man started and then others thought it was OK to join in.

I mean, really? They weren't sat near me or I would have said something. It pissed me right off. We were there to sing and dance to a bit of disco and grotty men insist on making their thoughts knoen about how attractive she is. As if anyone cares.

Most of the audience were 50+ which somehow made it even more grim.

Yuk just yuk.

Yuck! Do they not realise how unattractive they are 🤢

JenniferBooth · 04/06/2025 21:33

Love Sophie E. B.

What a bunch of knobs!

feelingbleh · 04/06/2025 21:35

Why do men have to always be like this do they not realise stuff like this just repulses women 🤢🤢

Lanzarotelady · 05/06/2025 09:22

She knew exactly what she was doing!

Was it her fault for wearing the short skirt so the poor ickle men couldn't help themselves?

Those damn women wanting to celebrate their bodies and or even just wear the clothes they want. I shall write to her management company straight away and insist on her only wearing baggy floor length skirts from now on. We cant be blaming men for their bad behaviour when there are (shock!) legs on show.

So I guess you think its ok for builders to sexual harass women walking past in summer wear and its all just too terribly woke and PC that they cant now and... and... and... snowflakes and stuff innit.

Ugh yeah, that is gross. My DDs like her but I wouldn't like them being witness to that, at what they would see as a fun concert.

Edited

She can wear exactly what she wants, but she was also fully aware of the fact that wearing a very short skirt and bending over would illicit the exact reaction she was looking for and encouraging!

Helpmeplease2025 · 05/06/2025 09:43

How many times did she drop something that she had to keep bending over?

At various points

According to the OP!

Odd, any other concerts I’ve been to has stage hands running of if they drop the mic etc (rare!)

Agreed.

I think everyone should wear whatever they want but I just find it interesting that when women are being "empowered" and "celebrating themselves" it seems to involve wearing as little as possible and wanting to look "sexy"

Men rarely seem to have to be undressed to be "empowered".

If you enjoy the attention from it then go for it but let's not pretend Poor Little Sophie just wanted to wear some cute shorts and accidentally kept bending over and wide eyed shock didn't realise that would mean some men would express that they liked it. It was entirely for their benefit and her own ego.

Come on.

Lanzarotelady · 05/06/2025 09:48

Anyone would think it was "staged" oh I have dropped my mike - let me bend over show my legs and my arse and then one of her crew starts to whistle - or am I a cynic??

Oh come on. I thought we'd moved past this. You are basically saying that if a woman wears a short skirt she deserves to be sexually harassed.

She doesnt, you know. If she gets sexually harassed, that is on the harasser not the woman wearing the short skirt.

You know in rape trials when the defence go on and on about what the woman was wearing when she was raped. You are doing the exact same thing. She asked for it your honour.

No I am not saying that at all.

What I am saying is this was very much staged and if you cannot see that then that is a you problem

She dropped things at various points - how many times exactly - come on OP how many times - it was probably her own staff that started the whistling

Wolf whistling is sexual harassment now?

There was literally a thread about this the other day and a ton of posters saying that a young teen girl needed to be told not to wear a strappy flowery dress in public because it was asking for trouble. It's depressing how many people really believe this shite in 2025. In fact a few years ago they would have got pasted for that sort of victim blaming nonsense on MN but now the opinion seems to have turned for some reason. 🤔

nomas · 05/06/2025 09:53

I haven’t seen the performance so on the face of it, YANBU, there was no need for the men to behave like that.

However, as a pp said, was the performance staged to get those reactions?

E.g. Sabrina Carpenter has built her concert act around sexually suggestive poses (bending or kneeling and pushing her arse out to the audience, mimicking fellatio with the mic etc. I think Tate McRae does similar.

At least one was definately genuine. Tbf you could be right about the other 2 times but I don't think so. It didnt seem like it at the time and at least one was at an odd time and it was a bit awkward every time so didnt seem staged. Maybe shes a better actress than I thought.

She was wearing huge heels and my own experience in such heels is that if I try to "bend at the kmees", Id fall flat on my face so the best way is to just bend over.

I find the 50+ men are the ones who think wolf whistling is wholly acceptable. And if it is not a standard wolf whistle, as they know it is dodgy ground, it is a random tune they go for when in your vicinity instead.

BlotAnExpert · 05/06/2025 09:55

I have been to gigs for smaller bands where security have removed sleazy men. Notably Big Moon who called it out then when the guy persisted (think he was taking photos as well 🤢) they stopped until security got him out. Fair enough and the crowd cheered, why should anyone have to wear a long skirt / trousers or feel uncomfortable just because some creep can't control himself.

Itsnotwhatitseemslike · 05/06/2025 10:00

There is a massive difference between dressing for the stage - it is literally called a performance, which is supposed to be larger than life entertainment - and for going about daily life. It’s pretty obtuse to pretend there isn’t.

Buxusmortus · 05/06/2025 10:01

You may think it's grim( as do I) but how do you know SEB does?
Maybe she's not bothered or maybe it gives her a boost to still have men whistling at her.
Not every woman views a wolf whistle as sexual harassment. I'm sure if she didn't like it she could have said something in a light way but they would have got the message

Picking up a jacket that had slid off the stand is hardly giving oral sex to a mic.

But maybe Im being hypercritical by saying that?

She was wearing a short skirt (as many women do every day) and a leotard (as many do for festivals). Neither was particularly outrageous but again, even if they were, so what?

I agree.

She has a bit of a vintage, pin-up girl vibe - mini skirt, bending over, batting her eyelashes… like a burlesque performer.

I’d have assumed it was all part of her act.
