What I mean is they should introduce UC in the cinema for films like Peppa pig. And unaccompanied Adults (male or female) should not be able to attend. But anyone should be able to attend regular "U" rated films. Which Lilo and Stitch is. Because it has appeal to adults as well as children.

So you are wanting to police what people enjoy.
I can't say I would ever like Peppa Pig, but someone might... maybe someone with LD, or who is ND.
Would you turn them away from a cinema screening, and on what grounds?

And what danger does a lone adult pose to kids young kids in a cinema who should be with a guardian anyway?

I need the laugh reaction back.

Ooh - the laugh reactions gone?!
Good. Too many people using it to be nasty.

OonaStubbs · 03/06/2025 01:06

There are plenty of events for parents and children that adults without children are not allowed to attend. I don't see the difference.

Cinema is not one though.
Cinemas are struggling enough as it is.
You don't make the rules. Adults can watch U rated flms... hell, it is adults making U rated films.

Very good idea.

Alone. Adult. Happily sitting eating his snacks . Staying at the end to see if there is a post credit scene ….

…. sounds just like my adult autistic son, who is the kindest soul you would ever meet and loves to go to the cinema alone for some independence.

Made me want to cry to read this and think some people may be watching him and laughing.

He was doing nothing wrong and not affecting anyone, yet you thought it ok to start a thread about him and likely expected people to laugh along with you .

I have read your replies and can see you regret it now but please think before you pass judgement.

Your son sounds lovely Flowers
I love going to the cinema by myself, I honestly wouldn't think twice, or even notice anyone else there by themselves, and if I did I'd just see them as enjoying a film.
I hate threads like this as they bring out the arseholes.

Why? what is the rational behind this?
What is the danger?

sleepwouldbenice · 03/06/2025 01:10

I remember enduring sitting through Frozen and wondering why the heck the young couple in their 20s with no kids with them were there, the man genuinely seemed to find the Olaf scenes hilarious and I was bemused as to why? But I certainly didn't care enough to think it that remarkable

Adults also make playground equipment, the internet, the dark web, smartphones etc. The fact an adult made something doesn't make it immune to abuse

I love Malificant. People can appreciate the animations in films, with an entertaining plot to boot. It's only those with their own abnormal thoughts going on who see a problem with it. I don't mean you BTW.

What abuse is occurring from a lone adult watching a U rated film?

Least it's out in the open on a thread though, instead of aimed at posters and presumably hoping they won't say anything.
(Worst I saw was someone saying they got a laugh reaction at one of their posts describing their experiences when it came to racism)
Good riddance to the laugh react

Anybody who did that should have been banned.

"lurking" 🙄 nice use of emotive language there
You mean someone just sat in the cinema, watching a film?

BDG007 · 02/06/2025 23:59

It is a bit weird. Why didn't he just stream it or wait for it to come out on Amazon/Netflix.

Why does he have to? Why didn’t @Littlebluecreature just stream it. Why’s it ok for her but not him. Yes it’s aimed at children and families but we’ve seen so many reasons in the thread. He needed a pick me up movie, he loved the first as a young hater and wants to watch the sequel, he has a learning disability, he just needed the time to chill and this happened to be on, he likes the movie atmosphere, he wanted to get out the house and chill..

by your logic we should just shut cinemas or ban lone adults of either gender watching films.

maybe we also shouldn’t let women watch horror or action movies on their own?

no lone men at romances…

wanders off grumbling…

A lone adult man going to watch a U rated film on his own is odd. We all know it, even if you're arguing against it, you know full well it's odd

No, we don't "all" know it.
Don't project your issues onto everyone else.

Come on, explain it. Break it down. Use all your time and crayons.

It's about protecting young children. Adults can go and see scary movies if they want.

Every other thread on MN is accusing men of being sex offenders but the moment a long single man goes to a U rated film all of a sudden he's an angel that is just really interested in the storyline of Frozen.

Personally I'd rather protect children
