Watching Lilo & Stitch..is this odd?

Here with Dd, only one other family here…and this guy, munching on snacks..watching Lilo & Stitch

Is it just me 😂

Why so judgy? I often go to films on my own- often kids ones - if I want to see it I go.

Especially because as I have an odeon pass so no additional cost.

not harming anyone…

NannyR · 02/06/2025 14:06

I don't think it's weird, I always go to the cinema on my own - not to kids films granted, but maybe he really likes Disney.

WiddlinDiddlin · 02/06/2025 14:06

Theres no rules that say you have to watch animated films with a child...

Maybe he really likes animated films.

Maybe he has a cinema pass/membership that means he can watch as many as he likes each month, I have a few friends who have that and they'll often go and watch something daft by themselves just to get out of the house.

EmeraldRoulette · 02/06/2025 14:06

I'm usually there on my own.

Blackdow · 02/06/2025 14:07

If he’s middle aged then he was a kid when the first movie came out and it light just be nostalgia. He isn’t doing anything wrong. Jesus. Cannot believe you’ve started a thread about this.

TheNightSurgeon · 02/06/2025 14:07

Man watches film alone whilst eating snacks - normal.

Someone goes to the cinema with their child and sits on their phone bitching about the other cinema goers - you're the weird one.

Amba1998 · 02/06/2025 14:08

Our local reel cinema is going a senior screening of it one morning!

Drummend01 · 02/06/2025 14:08

Live and let live. Maybe it holds special memories for him because of his grown children, maybe he knows someone in the film, maybe he’s a journalist or maybe he just wanted to go to the cinema on his day off.

There are so many depressing things going on around the world, let a man enjoy a film without fear of judgement and be grateful you have your daughter to share these experiences with.

No it's not odd, how judgemental! I went over the weekend and there was a man on his own sitting next to me, didn't even occur to me that it could be seen as strange

Figgygal · 02/06/2025 14:09

Maybe he has a membership and goes to see everything and anything

fair play to him

evilharpy · 02/06/2025 14:09

Not remotely weird. Probably a cinema pass owner who goes to whatever happens to be on. What a strange thing to be judgemental about.

BeliesBelief · 02/06/2025 14:09

So you’re on your phone, posting on Mumsnet, while at the cinema? Of the two of you, I’d say it’s you whose behaviour is out of line here.

CatsorDogsrule · 02/06/2025 14:09

Is he sitting directly behind you or next to your DD, in an otherwise empty theatre? If so, I would probably move. If not, I'd think nothing of it.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 02/06/2025 14:10

This is so perfectly normal, I can't believe you even noticed. Disney films have very broad appeal.

TheSwarm · 02/06/2025 14:11

Don't be that arsehole, OP.

Going to the cinem by yourself is one of life's joys. Get to see what you want, when you want and it's not like you should be talking during the film anyway.

Dearg · 02/06/2025 14:11

Is he wearing a slightly grubby mac? If so, he’s definitely a wrong ‘un

AzureShark · 02/06/2025 14:11

Good grief. Yeah, yeah reasons, reasons🙄

In reality, of course it's bloody odd. I'd be curious if I saw a grown man sitting watching a cartoon alone in a cinema.

I must say though, the replies so far are amusing. Absolutely wild how people are just desperate to display how accepting and unflappable they are 😂

Beeinalily · 02/06/2025 14:14

Judgy

DoctorRoseReturns · 02/06/2025 14:14

The new Lilo and Stitch film is live action got a start to those talking about "animated/cartoons"

This is just a man watching a film. Just a man existing. Stop being so judgey

Littlebluecreature · 02/06/2025 14:14

Ok wasn’t trying to be awful at all, wasn’t judging him, feel bad now.
I love going to the cinema on my own, it was just the kids thing, that’s all

Edited

Amazing how some people just really like to show how ridiculously judgemental they are

babystarsandmoon · 02/06/2025 14:15

I’m sick to death of strangers being judged in a world where friendships are dying, people are lonely and they get told to go and do the thing and then when they do it’s seen as odd.

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/06/2025 14:16

I want to go and see it, am I been weird.

Coconutter24 · 02/06/2025 14:16

You book seats before you go in, even if he is near the child 1) he might of booked that seat before op and 2) there is nothing wrong with someone watching a film alone

StopStartStop · 02/06/2025 14:17

It's normal.
Women also go to the cinema alone.
It's a way to
a) See a film you'll enjoy
b) Get away from it all for a while.

I wouldn't allow a child to go to the cinema alone, just in case someone is dodgy, but I certainly wouldn't assume a person is suspect just because they are alone.
