I was having blood test yesterday and the phlebotomist said I had excellent veins. I’m not sure what makes veins excellent, but I was glad to hear it!

Some of these are truly hilarious.

A young woman told me recently I look like a celebrity. No idea why, but I was quite chuffed 😊 .

An old manager after a meeting- 'you don't say a lot, but when you do speak, everyone listens. Well, go me 😲.

Now, if only I had excellent veins. I swear mine go into hiding whenever it's time for a blood test 😔.

Quite recently, I was walking through a seaside town on a sunny day and a dapper older gentleman tipped his hat at me and said it was good to see a lady who knew how to dress.

Cherrysoup · 28/05/2025 21:37

‘Bet you’re a tiger in bed’. Erm, I wouldn’t know, I was a virgin at the time.

’I wouldn’t misbehave if you were my teacher’. My neighbour this week when I mentioned I’m pretty strict in class.

‘I like your hair, it’s pretty’ as I walked into a restaurant in Middleofnowhere, USA and took off the pashmina because it was raining and it goes frizzy in the rain. It’s very curly and ginger.

‘I wish you were my son’s teacher’ at Parents’ Evening many years ago. My head of department came over and shifted him away. They were both of the same African culture and apparently he said that because I was fat and that was prized in their culture! 😱

Re the veins, the nurse had serious issues getting blood out of me last time I was in hospital, took myself as I appeared to be having an anaphylactic shock. I hadn’t had time to hydrate as it was 3am and I was home alone, drove myself to A&E when my throat appeared to be closing, good job we live very nearby.

"you have got so fat!"

Said to me in a country where being fatter was considered a compliment.

Where is this country? Can I live there?

'You've got a lovely shaped head' (said after I lost my hair to chemo). It gave me the confidence to go wig free.

💕 love to you

suka · 28/05/2025 21:39

Dentist told me I had a perfect pogonion. I had to go look it up afterwards. It’s my chin!

I was once on my way to watch a burlesque show, all dressed up in a smart 50s style dress and a slightly mad little cocktail hat. I was in my early 60s. A student stopped me and said I looked fabulous and could he photograph me for his style blog!!! Made my evening....😊

Gattopardo · 28/05/2025 21:44

”You know, what I like about you is that you’re actually quite masculine in lots of ways, and that’s unusual in a woman”.

I took this as a compliment (and a sign he was both too thick and too misogynistic for me) but he definitely didn’t mean it as one 😂

iseethembloom · 28/05/2025 21:45

In a small local Co-op, the woman on the till said, ‘ooh! I like the colour of your purse!’

Livpool · 28/05/2025 21:45

I have a textbook uterus! It was said as if it was a normal compliment - like about my hair or something. She looked at me like I should have been thrilled but I was a bit 🤷🏼‍♀️

curlywurlymum · 28/05/2025 21:46

’You have lovely wide hips, your body was made for pregnancies!’
To be fair I had amazing pregnancies and deliveries, but still…

OMG a gynaecologist said the exact same thing to me 😂 she wasn’t even making small talk, just stated it like it’s a medical fact I needed to be aware of.

thenightsky · 28/05/2025 21:50

Drunk man outside Wetherspoons. Did a double take as I walked by and said loudly 'Christ, I bet you were stunning when you were younger'.

Didn't know whether to say thanks or be upset about my current appearance.

NoSourDough · 28/05/2025 21:51

I was born without wisdom teeth and a dentist told me that I’m a highly evolved individual!!

NoSourDough · 28/05/2025 21:54

Oh and another, a GP giving me a routine smear told me that I had one of the best pelvic floors she had ever seen and that I must do my exercises? I have no idea what she was going on about because when I sneeze a bit of wee wee comes out.

AnotherDayanotherNameChangeX · 28/05/2025 21:54

I was also told I have perfect breastfeeding nipples! Shame they now point to the ground 3 kids later!

Oh, so was I. I thought I was lacking in something.

TheKeeperOfTissues · 28/05/2025 21:57

My DD & my GC all have my eye colouring.
A cashier was OTT gushing about this, it was a very odd encounter. Not just an acknowledgement iyswim.
The next time I was served by her she told me she sought out and bought contact lenses the exact colour because she couldn't get over how beautiful they were 🤷🏻‍♀️
I shop elsewhere now......

Me too! Made my week that did 🤣

ivyleafgeranium · 28/05/2025 21:58

Told at a colonoscopy that I had the loveliest colon he had seen that week. Made it sound like a highlight of his working week which was lovely but I felt a bit sorry for him.

TheFairyCaravan · 28/05/2025 22:06

“You’ve got a massive bladder. You’d be great to go down the pub with for a few pints…” said to me by my pelvic surgeon when he was checking my Cystogram following surgery where my bladder had been torn three weeks previously.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 28/05/2025 22:08

Yep, another one with a lovely cervix here Confused

K8Davidson · 28/05/2025 22:10

Lots of lovely cervix on this thread!

On holiday in Goa about 25years ago. A teenage girl was selling scarves on the beach.....I bought two and we were chatting. I'm very pale skinned and she was fascinated by my skin.......she stroked my arm and said in awe "you have skin like an egg"
