To want to know why Imogen Poots broke up with James Norton

Obviously absolutely none of my business, but I don’t think anyone in my real life knows who these people are, so I’m sharing it here in case anyone shares my mini obsession.

Imogen Poots is a gorgeous 35 year old British actress who was engaged to James Norton (I’m guessing I don’t need to explain here who he is), they broke up in the last year or so and he’s indicated in interviews that it wasn’t his choice.

She’s suggested in past interviews that she wants children (which JN has also said he does). Definitely none of my business - but honestly if you were a 35 year old woman who wants kids and you were engaged to JAMES NORTON, would you break up with him?

I used to see him circa 2016 in Peckham Rye/East Dulwich where I assumed he lived when I was on mat leave. I was clearly looking my best 😪 so knew it was only a matter of time before he took me (and my then baby) away from it all. Unfortunately it never happened. And NOW look where he is! He looked pretty much exactly like he does every other day when he played Tommy Lee Royce. If you fancied him more bc he played a ‘bad boy’ the bad boy he played was a woman-hating rapist who tried to murder his own child. And ran over and beat up female police officers. (Among other things.)

But this is the point. This is a view taken by women and accepted by other women. I’m not on a crusade but it’s just interesting this is a thing - particularly now when there is so much physical, verbal and sexual violence aimed at women and portrayed against them in the media.

I’m not denying he’s sexually attractive - but it’s my point that his character spends most of the time being despicable to women and it seems to be a mainstream view that this makes him sexy to a lot of women. Women who no doubt would be calling the police and helplines if their daughters got mixed up with anyone remotely similar to him and would stand up and shout how vile his behaviour and general attitude to women is - and yet they freely admit they find him sexually attractive - so why is that?

And why no embarrassment at admitting they find him gorgeous as this deviant pervert? He isn’t wearing prosthetics or outlandishly different hair or anything as Tommy - it’s just the character he’s playing that makes him more attractive to these women, in this specific role.

Women liking a bit of rough or a bad boy is not new and is definitely a thing. But he’s so hideous to women - characters that we like in the series and feel great sympathy for - so again why do women find him dreamy without worrying about how that makes them look?
