Obviously absolutely none of my business, but I don’t think anyone in my real life knows who these people are, so I’m sharing it here in case anyone shares my mini obsession. Imogen Poots is a gorgeous 35 year old British actress who was engaged to James Norton (I’m guessing I don’t need to explain here who he is), they broke up in the last year or so and he’s indicated in interviews that it wasn’t his choice. She’s suggested in past interviews that she wants children (which JN has also said he does). Definitely none of my business - but honestly if you were a 35 year old woman who wants kids and you were engaged to JAMES NORTON, would you break up with him? I know AIBU.

I find Penn Badgeley, mostly known for playing a serial killer, attractive. Is that ok? I found him attractive even in Gossip Girl if that makes it better.
Doesnt mean I would shag an actual serial killer.🙄

There’s a difference between saying you find an actor attractive even in a horrible role, and saying you find him attractive only in a horrible role.

I also have a bit of a thing for Andrew Scott as Moriarty (I'm aware that he bats for t'other side IRL) but he's not killing people left, right and centre in reality. Or at least I sincerely hope not.

You’ve just said you liked him in two very different roles - not that you don’t normally find him attractive but do in the role of a violent, misogynistic criminal - slightly different.

I also find him attractive in every role he's done, except perhaps in Playing Nice when as a pp said he was bit of a wet character. I don't like the cardigans or the baggy trousers that remind me of the type my teen DS wears.

But this is the point. This is a view taken by women and accepted by other women. I’m not on a crusade but it’s just interesting this is a thing - particularly now when there is so much physical, verbal and sexual violence aimed at women and portrayed against them in the media.

I’m not denying he’s sexually attractive - but it’s my point that his character spends most of the time being despicable to women and it seems to be a mainstream view that this makes him sexy to a lot of women. Women who no doubt would be calling the police and helplines if their daughters got mixed up with anyone remotely similar to him and would stand up and shout how vile his behaviour and general attitude to women is - and yet they freely admit they find him sexually attractive - so why is that?

And why no embarrassment at admitting they find him gorgeous as this deviant pervert? He isn’t wearing prosthetics or outlandishly different hair or anything as Tommy - it’s just the character he’s playing that makes him more attractive to these women, in this specific role.

Women liking a bit of rough or a bad boy is not new and is definitely a thing. But he’s so hideous to women - characters that we like in the series and feel great sympathy for - so again why do women find him dreamy without worrying about how that makes them look?

fwiw, hes very talented and clearly intelligent, having gone to Cambridge. Having type 1 diabetes is tough, I'm sure. but it doesn't make him a less attractive man worth obsessing over and jokingly judging discussing

I wonder if he met his ex on Raya, I think it was reported he was on there when he split from Imogen.

Is secrecy supposed to be the point of Raya? I thought it was about allowing you to match with other celebrity types? I imagine he might prefer it in some ways if the tabloids didn’t broadcast that for him, but he’s famous enough that that isn’t really an option, and on the plus side for him, I guess it’s free advertising to any pretty girl that might be reading that he’s single and looking?

How do you know he’s kind or intelligent though?? Good looking and successful doesn’t equate those things. Or he could have bad sperm or one ball and they tried to have a baby but couldn’t. Or maybe he couldn’t handle her having a Hollywood repertoire bigger than his - she’s acted with Zac Efron and Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart - and has a network there unlike him. Or most likely she just fell out of love with him - he’s not a gift to women kind.

Out of curiosity why discuss it now a year after the break up - when he’s already dated and dumped someone else? He chose a 25 year old model - that’s not screaming man who wants to settle down and get married! If he was an average Joe he’d be a red flag on MN as someone who wants to be married apparently but never has been and dates 15 years younger.

Rebound girlfriend, that's all.

I thought it was, but maybe I'm wrong. i thought it was so rich and famous people could date without people finding out they were on dating apps, but maybe they changed because there weren't enough people signing up to make it worthwhile.

yeah he's so hot in Grantchester. But for pure acting prowess, he's best in the film Nowhere Special. Such an underrated film. He plays a terminal ill father of a 4yr old. He's even hot in that, even though he looks very ill.
