I'm in NI and it's a brand called Gallaghers. The white loaf makes the most delicious toast but I buy the multi seeded for sandwiches

Faux sourdough. Real sourdough only contains flour, water, salt and starter, made from flour and water. Look at the ingredients list here:

groceries.asda.com/product/wholemeal-bread/gallaghers-bakehouse-sourdough-wholemeal/1000383169335?&cmpid=ppc--pmax_google----google---_-dskwid-_dm&s_kwcid=AL!11432!3!!!!x!!&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20411449403&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_8rBBhCFARIsAJrc9yC0BzLiyVJnBv2sQSXEXQoSiHDS7Et-UkjjeJoa3aXPRJAm4E7ic3AaAghwEALw_wcB

Aperol Spritz. They don't taste that bad, but they're soooooo expensive for what essentially seems to be a glass filled with ice and a little bit of orange food colouring.

iamnotalemon · 25/05/2025 13:37

Matcha. Tastes like grass

Crucible · 25/05/2025 16:36

Iceland is now the only place I can find burger buns - the ones with sesame seeds. They're small but perfect to have two small burgers, rather than one stupid big monster of a burger that's 10 inches high. Brioche is an abomination.

Morrisons do seeded normal burger buns too

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 25/05/2025 18:55

Matcha. What even is it?

Crucible · 25/05/2025 18:59

@ThatsNotMyTeen thanks, my local Morrisons has recently closed. It was a good shop

Next nearest exits onto a horrendous spaghetti of roads and dual carriageways. It can take an hour at Christmas to leave the car park.

Protein bars and anything from that section in the shop - seeded bars, just about anything from Naked or Graze, like crunchy edamame beans.

I have had a quarrel with Graze ever since it was only an online subscription service. You could choose on their website to "ban" things from the boxes they sent so you didn't get stuff you didn't like. I went through the ticklist and check boxed the do not sends and the website said that I had to add some back to make sure my boxes were healthy! When I unsubscibed they asked why so I said that they were not the food police and if they wouldn't sell me what I wanted then why would I subscribe? Never got an snswer......

Aperol spritz

Vile stuff.

Ilovemyshed · 25/05/2025 23:38

MrsMillyFluff · 23/05/2025 22:28

Kale in whatever form ( raw/air fried etc) it's bland and inedible. You may as well be a cow munching on grass in a field 😳

I agree, except for if it is shredded, stalks removed and gently turned in butter until it wilts, add loads of black pepper and a swill of cream. Then its heaven.

NewShoesForSpring · 25/05/2025 23:55

Wow! So many things on this thread that i absolutely adore - aperol spritz, though I prefer campari. A Negroni is my favourite cocktail. Olives of any description particularly if marinaded with garlic & herbs, nuts, Avocado on toast with soft poached egg & chilli flakes 😋, brioche buns for burgers & hotdogs, cronuts, doughnuts

I adore cake buy I'm not keen on the overdecorated cupcakes & I hate matcha

beebee25 · 26/05/2025 08:26

WiddlinDiddlin · 25/05/2025 12:15

Imagine shredded wheat, mixed to a crunchy paste with pistachio cream... inside a chocolate bar.

It's ok, but certainly not (to me) worth the price, which I assume is because it doesn't have a long shelf life (the pastry would eventually lose its crunch), and does have to be a fairly deep filled bar too... and of course, initially, no one else was making it.

Lindt make a version of it now, haven't tried it but it was in Morrisons yesterday.

That sounds absolutely vile!

Wow I didn’t know they did that, they won’t keep customers by being controlling.

HangryLikeTheHulk · 26/05/2025 09:51

Aperol is banned in Belarus. They get it.

yup, you could cook a cardboard box in butter, black pepper and cream and people would love it

I don't know if they still do, I never bothered after that.

Biscoff is not anything much in itself but surprising nice in pastries/pancakes. Pistachios have been a staple in desserts for thousands of years and taste great - they are not a trend except maybe in Dubai choc which will fail without the pistachios.

I disagree. I think Biscoff on its own with a coffee is enough. They're sweet enough already. Biscoff in croissant is an abomination.

I like pistachio on its own and with cardamon cake, but not in tiramisu, and there's no way I'm paying £10 for Dubai chocolate.

Pistachio has become more popular recently though. Pistachio spread in a jar never used to be a thing.

The thread title is a bit strange though.

NotMyRealAccount · 26/05/2025 10:18

A couple of previous posters reminded me of another. If you're adding turmeric (whether you pronounce it phonetically or as "tumour-ick") to your porridge, puddings and hot milky drinks and declaring it "omnomnomnomNOM" I'm quietly filing you under "pretending". Matcha, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt although I don't like it myself.

(I do like bubble tea, though. Just occasionally, for the novelty.)

Dontknowwhattocall13893 · 23/05/2025 21:56

Yes I just can't like it and I feel like I should lol. Like I love fermented things, saurkraut, kombucha, sourdough.. but I just can't like kimchi

nooooo, I have it with everything. Sometimes in a sandwich with mayo when I can't be bothered making a proper lunch!

xsquared · 26/05/2025 10:27

Oh, I love a bit of homemade kimchi! Add it to my ramen, egg fried rice, scrambled eggs and even cheese on toast!

Mistyglade · 26/05/2025 10:44

Bone broth. Boak.

Poached eggs and avocado.
Poached eggs are raw 90% of the time I've had them. Any other type of egg is so much better. And avocado tastes like grass, there, I said it!

I love avocado seasoned with salt and Pepper and a dash of olive oil served with poached eggs on sour bread
