Mines matcha - looks nasty

Previously sweet potato fries but they've kinda died out now

100% agree with you on this...how did it ever become a trend to cook food with a huge black monstrosity that blows hot air at the food while your oven sits there unused!?

Did anybody ever like the taste of kale when we were being encouraged to eat kale salads all the time? So rubbery!

AllPlayedOut · 24/05/2025 17:54

I’m not overly fond of kale in salads but I could eat an entire bag roasted.

Was it Leon that used to have a kale and peanut salad? I loved that, and mourned when it vanished to be replaced by the much less nice Superfood Salad.

Avos aren't a 'trend'! They've been around for as long as I can remember (and probably for thousands of years before that).

I meant smashed avocado on toast, nothing against the fruit itself.

And yes, I am aware they have been around a long time 🤣

Aperol is amazing. I love alcohol free versions.
And kombucha is fab. If you can get it on tap it's even better (yes really. Like in a pub).

Go away with your dislike of sweet potato fries.

I don't do trends. I do what I like.

If you like alcohol-free Aperol, you might love Irn Bru 😁I am always surprised how similar they taste

Reonie · 24/05/2025 18:21

Italian restaurants where it's £25 minimum for a small plate of pasta that you could have cooked yourself, at home. I had one recently that was spaghetti, oil, bit of garlic, and steamed broccoli. Yes it was my fault for ordering it but come on! I was expecting a bit of a sauce at least...

It really really doesn't taste like alcohol free aperol.

Lidl do a great cheap version.

Isittimeformynapyet · 24/05/2025 20:00

I don't like jerky, biltong or any dried meat.

I call it Cow Scabs 🤢

Brawsome · 24/05/2025 21:22

Have we mentioned jackfruit yet?
It has crept in to every veggie and vegan dish and is just horrible.
Gave my friend an urgent, severe, abdominal incident. Which was a difficult watch.

theotherplace · 24/05/2025 21:23

I actually love both matcha and sourdough. Key with matcha is to make it strong but also with non dairy milk

ResumedDeliveryBets · 24/05/2025 17:30

I can’t believe I forgot Falooda. Noodles, milk and rose water should not be a thing.

I’ve really tried but it still feels like someone tipped a whole milk shake into your pasta linguini then gave you a straw to suck it up

But this is a popular Indian drink…are you Indian? Because if not…Maybe it’s just…not meant for you?

I dont tend to eat things I dont like, and I like most things.

But when sweet potato fries were a thing I obviously tried them, a let down, not like fries, not crispy,, horribly sweet.

Matcha I had one sip of once, horrible

I love Aperol spritz and also Campari spritz.

Campari spritz for me too, please. Love it!

Kimchi, kefir, kombucha. Other things beginning with k. Anything named "dirty". Truffles. Salmon in restaurants served "pink". Cook it, you pretentious bastards.

I don’t understand this comment. Cooked salmon is pink.

£25 😲.

Lostuser · 24/05/2025 21:53

Loaded fries and cheesy chips just salt and vinegar is all that’s needed

Every single person from India loves this then do they?

FancyLimePoet · 24/05/2025 21:57

Any kind of patè - smells like burps! How could anyone enjoy that!

Runny eggs 🤮

Eating Italian outside of the house is never worth it sorry

Best off paying for a dominos tbh (controversial)

I do like matcha. I used to get a tiny tin for about £30. It was very fresh tasting and such a vibrant green. I have also used cooking grade matcha for baking. It is not as green as the tea grade stuff. I swear cooking grade is what cafes use in their coffees, probably because it is cheaper. It tastes horrible. I had a matcha latte in one place and it tasted fishy.

I want to try Dubai chocolate but not at the price it is.

Sweet potato fries are amazing though. And unlike your usual chip, they count as 1 of your 5 a day.

I love bubble tea, but the fruit ones. Tealith have them 2 for 1 Mon to Friday at the moment.

The key it to rub it together to make it wilt a bit (with a bit of oil and salt). It breaks the fibres down and makes it less tough.

HelloDaisy · 24/05/2025 22:18

Bubble tea and overnight oats, both yuk in equal measure!

XenoBitch · 24/05/2025 22:21

Brioche buns.
Years ago, one of my friends had a BBQ, and the only buns she could get were brioche ones. What the fuck are they for?

Now it seems most food places serve their burgers in a brioche bun, and it really puts me off. Even the burger meal kits in Tesco have brioche now. It used to be a good ole fashioned white roll with sesame seeds on.

Theunamedcat · 23/05/2025 21:42

Coconut milk fine coconut water blurgh

Coconut water is divine when out of an actual coconut but foul out of a carton. Coconut milk is great even from a carton. There is also fresh coconut toddy - mildly alcoholic - which is lovely but will never be a trend.
I dont care for matcha and bubble tea etc but hate "charcoal" bread and products. Like adding toxic rainbow colours to food, activated charcoal in food is foul and unnecessary.

Oh yes, them too!
