basically His experience could be valuable in navigating the current complex geopolitical challenges especially at the moment.

Starmer is Blair on steroids, and look how that's going down...

I don't think Stamer,is anything like Blair
For all.Blairs faults he was very charismatic particularly in the early day
Starmer, in the other hand has as much charisma as a potatoe.

MoreChocPls · 19/05/2025 10:08

Hell no. He is scum. One word: Iraq.

But getting someone to replace back stabbing sell out starmer…. Hell yes.

Who do you suggest?

AgathaX · 19/05/2025 10:13

Bring Blair back? Unbelievable!

EasternStandard · 19/05/2025 10:14

No thanks, no way. Mind you Starmer seems intent on repeating his mistakes.

Blair is not a popular figure op, as you can see on this thread. If you think he would save the Labour Party, you'd be wrong.

Probably more popular than Starmer, Reeves and Raynor, though!

Ficklebricks · 19/05/2025 10:18

Glad to see people generally disagree with the OP here. He's a vile man who should be made to face justice for what he did.

Maybe if people have short memories
The current lot are in power now though so that's what people will be focussing on.

At the beginning, yes. Not now though.

I remember people often proposing to bring back Mrs Thatcher, bringing back Mr Blair has been touted less but I appreciate a good goad for a mid morning snort of derision over the computer.

Blair and his 'With you whatever' like some lovestruck teen and his endless lies and spin can go suck a rock.

God,the spin I had forgotten just how much his government liked to spin.

ruffler45 · 19/05/2025 10:24

You have got to be joking...

xanthomelana · 19/05/2025 10:24

Didn’t enough people die last time he was PM? If you lost someone due to his fake WMD claims then maybe you’d think differently.

DarkLindt · 19/05/2025 10:25

No chance.

maybetaylor · 19/05/2025 10:26

No not Blair. Bring back Gordon!

Hoardasurass · 19/05/2025 10:28

I presume that your too young to remember how awful he was, or understand that he is the reason for most of the shit situation we find ourselves in now, from his massive expansion of PFI, the creation of tax credits (thus artificially suppressing wages), his illegal war, okaying brown selling off our gold reserves and bankrupting the UK to name but a few of his greatest hits.
Basically the man was a disaster and not fit for office then and certainly not now

Funniest thing I've read on here in ages. He was the cause of most of the financial problems we face today.

Most of that was financial caused by Brown, not Blair, except the war,

MagicalMystical · 19/05/2025 10:29

I was always a Labour supporter but what we learned about Blair - no thank you.

I’d like to see someone in power who is wise and steady, but I don’t think we have anyone like that in any of the parties.

I think the role of leader seems to attract a certain sort of person who is wholly unsuited to the wisdom required of successful sustainable leadership.

But no, certainly not Blair.

BinLordSeverustheMagnificent · 19/05/2025 10:30

Why?

Don’t get me wrong, politicians nowadays are pygmies compared to him and politicians in the past. However, you’re just trying to recapture the good old days, and going back never, ever works.

We should be trying to encourage todays bright people with vision to step up.

vodkaredbullgirl · 19/05/2025 10:31

Larry for PM

waltzingparrot · 19/05/2025 10:34

I saw him on TV last year stating we need to get 70% of our home students to go on to university - he doesn't understand the issues his 50% target has caused, let alone pushing on to 70%.

Swirlythingy2025 · 19/05/2025 09:37

basically His experience could be valuable in navigating the current complex geopolitical challenges especially at the moment.

He was experienced in lieing to create dodgy dossiers to take us into illegal wars that killed 500,000. You seriously want more illegal wars?
It's bad enough the current lot vowed not to touch WFP then immediately voted to remove it killing 3000 pensioners in the process (acording to their own figures). But we don't need more wars.

Badbadbunny · 19/05/2025 10:35

There are plenty of "good" MPs who'd make good party leaders and ultimately PMs, but they don't want to put their head above the parapit to face the media grillings, etc.

Tim Farron is an excellent constituency MP and was, for a short time, the LibDem Leader but got hounded out because of his Christian views/values. What a loss that was to the Lib Dem party, and potentially the country. And I'm not even a Libdem, but seeing how hard he works in his constituency and his common sense, I'd have supported him as a person.

Other MPs see that kind of personal attack and just think "no thanks".

So it's left to the ones who have ulterior motives, or weirdos, who'll face the media critics because they just want the power.

Yes maybe but he had morals and spent in the right places !
