To ask which celebrities would be really annoying to be married to?

Inspired by DS obsession with Steve Backshall.

He would be off round the world "too busy to do childcare darling", would come home reeking of bar poo, and would insist on taking the children to play with venomous snakes "it won't hurt them if they don't bother it".

Any celebrity would be annoying. Performative character traits are inherently annoying.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 18/05/2025 13:14

Paddy Mcguiness
Ricky Gervais
Gordon Ramsay
Rod Stewart (he just gives me the willies)
I could go on 😂

MinnieCauldwell · 18/05/2025 13:18

David Tennant for me too, think he has been at the hair dye lately, Prince Harry also, I woukd make him Steve his neck.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 18/05/2025 13:19

A lot of them tbh

I feel like a man should be strong and silent 😄, so a man trying too hard to get people to like him on TV would give me the ick

i'd echo some earlier mentions, David Tennant (sick of him), James Corden, Ben Shepherd,

I wouldn't mind that boxer guy who was in the jungle. Or mike tindall 🤭

You've made my point, far more succinctly 😄

Giles Coran 😷

ugh, he'd wind me right up, a man shouldn't have that many opinions, honestly, just embarrassing

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 18/05/2025 13:23

I always get the impression that Steve Backshall is actually a really supportive partner and happy to be in the background while his wife shines. He's always at her events looking after the kids and cheering her on.

I absolutely love Michael Ball but think he'd been far too cheery and enthusiastic for me irl. Always telling stories and breaking into song!

Richard Madeley. He's been unbearable for over 40 years as far as I can see.

I have a 25 year crush on Dickie Madeley and it's still going strong!

I always think Joe Swash would be a nightmare but after seeing Stacey's entitled, biligerant rant over not winning a BAFTA (cannot for the live of me understand why she felt the need to post it. Rant your disappointment privately, sure. But who wants the world to know you are a ungracious, sore loser) I don't think there's much to put between the pair of them.

DiscoDancingDoris · 18/05/2025 13:25

James Cordon
Gregg Wallace
Chris Martin

desperatedaysareover · 18/05/2025 13:30

Tennant. I feel sorry for his wife.

I've always fancied having Michael Ball as an uncle figure. You sense he'd never forget your birthday, cheer you up when you are low, give great hugs and be a total riot at Christmas. Particularly if he brings his mate Alfie round too.

EVHead · 18/05/2025 13:30

Tom Hiddleston. A very handsome, sexy man, excellent actor, but bloody hell I bet he’s always “on”. Dancing, doing impressions, etc.

Padloque · 18/05/2025 13:31

Chris Martin would be an absolute stickler for rinsing the recycling.

Pedallleur · 18/05/2025 13:31

Thinking about Dolly Partons husband. Years married, never in any pics with her, let her achieve everything and he is back home probably living well and without any of the drawbacks of fame.

TENSsion · 18/05/2025 13:33

Paloma Faith.

HarperStern · 18/05/2025 13:34

I think Jilly Cooper got the whole dynamic spot on with the Verekers in Rivals.

David Tennant, insufferable.

Funny because every person I know that met him found him absolutely amazing. I can take a guess why someone on Mumsnet finds him insufferable though.

cramptramp · 18/05/2025 13:38

Joe Swash. Irritating man who uses every excuse (adhd etc) but is just a pita.

Sadly, he passed away recently…

”Parton's husband, Carl Dean, died earlier this month in Nashville, Tennessee at age 82. The couple were married for nearly 60 years, meeting when a now 79-year-old Parton was 18 and marrying in 1966”

Colin Farrell. Could be wrong but I imagine he'd be a hard dog to keep on the porch.

I think he's a really committed and loving dad to his son who has a rare disability, which makes me fond of him. But no doubt a ladies man. I'd probably still give him a chance 😂

Yes. Misogyny isn’t an attractive quality to many women.

Any of them who do impressions of other celebrities. Showing my age here, but the Mike Yarwood show when I was a child irritated the hell out of me. He was shite.

And that bit at the end when he'd say "And this .... is me!" Wow, really, never would have guessed that! And then he'd stand there and sing "You are the sunshine of my life". Oh just piss off, Mike.

Les Dennis used to do stupid impersonations too. Attention seeking twats.

Slightly more current one, yup, Tom Cruise. You'd need to put a cover over him to stop him talking, like my Nana used to do with her budgie at night.

😁

Mike's "no longer with us" so you don't need to worry on that front

Funnily enough, he sets my teeth on edge too, but not really sure why. I think it could be because he’s a bit righteous and faux self-deprecating.

tobee · 18/05/2025 13:46

Steve Backshall just looks dopey

Most celebrities really are probably annoying. Seem to either be ragey 🤬 or too talkative 🤐. I like to do the talking!

EachandEveryone · 18/05/2025 13:46

Martin Lewis. I love him but I bet he goes through the bills with a fine tooth comb and never wants to pay full price for anything
