Parents hate the Childfree

Youstolemygoddamnhouse · 18/05/2025 08:18

Over the past few days there have been several post regarding children for example Our new Neighbours and my loud children and To think it's unacceptable to say you don't like children. in both posts there are hateful comments about Childfree people. The second post in particular never mentioned anything about childfree people but then people started making comments about them. Plenty of parents hate other children despite having them. Why do parents care so much about Childfree people and their choices? Are you jealous? Need validation? Why all the hate? Most importantly will you own up to it?

YABU - I don’t hate the childfree
YANBU - yes I hate the childfree

Quite a few parents come on to the Mumsnetters Without Children Board and take a pop at us for enjoying not having kids!

I’m not that surprised, considering the website was started for Mums, not people who choose and enjoy not having kids.
But have you got any examples?

Rumbley · 18/05/2025 15:48

Beyond bizarre isn't it.

Somewhat the own goal.

I am not surprised given the threads this poster has started.

A little… peculiar

Tumbleweed to that question guaranteed

So this is a thread started by you. And it's just a bunch of people saying "you've taken this out of context".

There's nothing on there. Literally nothing.

This is looking sadly identical to the "look how the parents hate us" threads, where 99% of people (just like this thread) are entirely indifferent.

NOTHING?????????? That is the thread where i was told i shouldnt be in social housing because i dont have kids.

It's evolved, and people should have the manners not to go onto a forum not designed for them in order to have a pop at others.

Meadowfinch · 18/05/2025 15:53

What a daft idea.

If someone is child free, I assume it is their choice, and don't give it another thought. I was child free until I was 45. Was I supposed to hate myself? 🙄

I'm happy with my choice. End of thought process.

I have @JenniferBooth
there was half a dozen posts on the social housing one
the other thread was very long and not one single one I could see supported your quote

so…. Let’s see this quote?

When you buy your own house you can choose whichever size of property you like/can afford. Social housing is a different matter. I didn't even think single child free able bodied folk would qualify these days ( correct me if I'm wrong)

roarfeckingroarr · 11/06/2023 19:48
So pay for your own flat? You don't need the room if there's just you

It's evolved, and people should have the manners not to go onto a forum not designed for them in order to have a pop at others.

“Mumsnet was conceived in early 2000 when Justine Roberts embarked on a disastrous family holiday. Her idea was to create a website where parents could swap advice about not just holidays but all the other stuff parents talk about.
Twenty years later and who'd have thought it would come to this? Mumsnet is now the UK’s biggest network for parents, with around 9 million unique visitors per month clocking up around 100 million page views.”

That’s Mumsnet’s About Us page. So yes it’s evolved but it’s there in black and white.

But have you got any links of parents having a pop at the childfree?

The child free are layabout scum of the earth and should hang their heads in shame. Bring back the stocks for them I say!

Yes. No issue there.

Social housing is a different matter. I didn't even think single child free able bodied folk would qualify these days ( correct me if I'm wrong)

She wonders if there's no reason you can't work and put a roof over your own head, that you shouldn't be given free housing. That's about how much someone should be given when they have no immediate barrier to providing for themselves, with no disadvantages or dependents (who can not house themselves)

So pay for your own flat? You don't need the room if there's just you

Are you arguing that as one person, who needs one bedroom, you should be equally entitled to a two or three bedroom, that you want, but don't need? Then they are quite right. Pay for your own flat, or have the funded one of the size you are entitled too?

Where are you finding offence in that?

Single
and
child free
and
able bodied ie not in receipt of any disability benefit

so not telling someone childfree they shouldn’t get social housing because they are child free

Come on now, you’re being silly @JenniferBooth
