Have I just been thrown out of GP Practice?

Madmay25 · 13/05/2025 16:14

Long story short. Transferred ( no choice) to new GP Practice when my previous Practice closed. I had been very happy there.
The new Practice was very disappointing in several ways which led me to make several written complaints about GPs, Nurses, etc. The Practice did respond in writing to these complaints.

However, my latest complaint led to me now being advised that the Practice can arrange for me to move to a different Practice. This move would not otherwise be possible due to local GP pressures.

Is this the same as being kicked out? Should I agree to move elsewhere ? Worried it might be worse!
Do you think I am being unreasonable...complaining / expecting too much?
😕

So you have written several complaints about multiple staff members. They have offered a solution and you appear to be complaining about that also. I suggest you move

This!

NamechangeJunebaby · 13/05/2025 20:29

I’d be interested to know what the nature of the complaints were? It sounds like a fairly large number!

I’ve only once mentioned I was very unhappy with a nurse at my doctors and she will now no longer see me without a chaperone. I didn’t complain formally - but I did mention it to the GP when I saw him, and said I wouldn’t make a formal complaint but that her attitude and the way she dealt with me was appalling. And it was very nearly a life/death situation which was thankfully dealt with by the lovely GP who I couldn’t praise enough. The nurse has a shitty attitude and still works there, so I just make sure I don’t see her.

If the clinic hasn’t upheld the complaints it sounds like they view OP as a trouble maker. The staff are trying their best when they’re underfunded and struggling to see patients.

Lifestooshort71 · 13/05/2025 20:35

Why would you want to stay when you're obviously very dissatisfied there! Move and go complain somewhere else (you will eventually run out of choices of course...)

Upinthetreetops · 13/05/2025 20:56

I'd throw ya out too, bye bye 👋

BakelikeBertha · 13/05/2025 21:00

I simply CAN NOT believe the way so many people are ripping into the OP, everyone is entitled to complain if they don't get good treatment, or if people make mistakes, or are rude. To act as if all doctors surgeries are the best thing since sliced bread, is ridiculous! Yes, I'm sure that a lot of us on here have a lot to thank doctors and nurses for, I have myself, but equally there are some really rude, nasty and aggressive medical staff out there, and when they make mistakes, it can cost lives, so if we don't complain when things aren't right, and they end up killing someone, then everyone would be saying, 'oh but you should have said something'. The thing is, people don't like being called out when they've done something wrong, and there are a lot of medical support staff who think they're Gods, so if the OP has had cause to complain, then I think it's highly likely that there was something wrong, and if her complaints get other people a better service, then we should be praising her, not bullying her.

Obviously you don't like the practice, they're now fed up of your persistent complaints, so take the move and make a note to stop complaining so much about everything at the new place. Complaints about so many different practitioners at the same practice suggest this is a you problem.

This hits the nail on the head. Why would you need to make so may complaints about one practice?,The will be SO glad to see the back of you!

OneFineDay13 · 13/05/2025 21:06

I think the OP may be slightly mad as her username suggests...

chatgptsbestmate · 13/05/2025 21:08

You chose to complain which is perfectly reasonable

The Practice is now choosing to get rid of you which is perfectly reasonable

@BakelikeBertha we don’t have enough information to make a judgement. Either the surgery is dreadful and patients complain regularly. Or the surgery is fine and OP is a compulsive moaner (which is what she has actually said herself). Or a bit of both.

We don’t know the details or legitimacy of OP’s complaints. But what is clear is that OP and the surgery are not a good fit. She clearly doesn’t rate them, so why should they want to keep her, and why would she want to stay? It’s basic psychology - if you don’t like something, you look for an alternative.

Cherryicecreamx · 13/05/2025 21:14

If the practice is that bad that you've had to write in multiple complaints, then I would take the opportunity to move which is hard to do anyway due to how overcrowded they are. Doesn't sound like you have much to lose.

Maybethisallthereis · 13/05/2025 21:15

Madmay25 · 13/05/2025 19:49

I don't want to go into the details of my complaints here. I believe all were valid and all were written in a non - abusive way. There was definitely no malicious intent.
It is sad that patients cannot raise issues without fear of reprisal.
I believe that health professionals in general have faced a large increase in complaints over the past few years. The complaint culture everywhere is mushrooming.
GPs are definitely not God like figures who can do no wrong. Nor are Nurses angels!
I certainly didn't bother to bang pots for them during Covid 🙄.
Won't be on here again tonight.

You admitted you have a compulsion to complain! This isn’t normal!!

Frenzi · 13/05/2025 21:17

It is very, very difficult to remove someone from a GP list. But if you are constantly complaining they can say that they cannot meet your needs.

I am surprised that they have not been in touch with you about your complaints though.

Londonrach1 · 13/05/2025 21:17

Several complaints is alot so probably better that you moved elsewhere if you that unhappy. Yes sounds like they think it better you moved to another practice you be happier with

Cherryicecreamx · 13/05/2025 21:18

As for the complaints, I don't think there is anything bad about it (as long as it's not rude of course). I think people need to know when they are not getting the right service. I've had issues with mine lately, one GP brushing over everything I say but then the next going above and beyond to help. If I kept getting treatment like the first, I would be let down and my problem would just get worse.

Frenzi · 13/05/2025 21:18

Also - if you have that many complaints about your current GP practice, how can a new one be worse!

SockFluffInTheBath · 13/05/2025 21:25

If they’re legitimate complaints then why would you not want to go to a different practice? If they’re not legitimate then stop wasting peoples’ time with mindless attention seeking.

justasking111 · 13/05/2025 21:41

Our practice has changed since COVID. You try to make an appointment, try the pharmacy. Pharmacy says see the GP, reception says you'll receive a text questionnaire. You fill in the questionnaire, get a text back saying collect prescription, provide a urine sample.

Get to the surgery, two people in the waiting room. Another new receptionist, they can't hang onto staff anymore. I've heard they're getting a lot of complaints now formal and on social media.

It's very depressing to work there on the front line I think.

BobbyBiscuits · 13/05/2025 21:44

I'd say you'd be best off moving.
But when you say it's like a 'compulsion' to write complaints, do you think they were all justified?
Were you put in danger?
The next one could be better or worse. I guess try to see it in a positive way in that the ones you complained about won't be able to see you anymore.

Hwi · 13/05/2025 21:53

AmIHumanOrAmIAYeti · 13/05/2025 20:12

Perhaps you could train as a GP given you believe you know enough about it to make multiple complaints. People like you are the reason the good GPs are moving to the other side of the planet.

Which side? Don't they have their own secretaries/physician associates to google symptoms and prescribe paracetamol and water?

RTFT. OP has readily admitted that they have a compulsion to complain all the time about everything.

Wow, thanks for so many quick responses. First time posting here.

It seems I am being unreasonable. Just cannot stop complaining..it's like a compulsion.
I will move on now..and try not to complain.

You have a compulsion to complain? FFS. Do you think the NHS have nothing better to do than to respond to unfounded complaints from you? No wonder it’s in the state it is. And no wonder your surgery want to get rid of you. God help your new surgery!

RosesAndHellebores · 13/05/2025 22:24

I was with my former GP.for 8 years when we moved house. During that 8 years they:

Refused to suppprt us in relation to MH care for our 16 year old "CAMHS are useless and won't see her so find a therapist off the internet". In front of said 16 year old.

Countless incorrect prescriptions or ones that were never at the pharmacy although the practice insisted they'd been sent.

I was given prescriptions for other patients. And someone else's referral was sent to me when a copy of mine was sent.

Probably the most arrogant bunch of doctors I have ever met and the rudest receptionists.

Referrals not made.

I was told.all people in my Town could only be referred to the local hospital at the instruction of the CCG (this was not true).

The final straw was when they sent me a fit note signing me off work for two weeks.post surgery. I hadn't had surgery or requested a sick note. They muddled me with another patient.

I changed Dr's two years ago. There is no comparison. The new practice is 1000% better. They even answer the phone.

We don't know if the complaints were unfounded or not.

The NHS is in the state it is because for decades people have accepted sloppy standards.

So this place clearly do things differently, doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
