I've always just used cheap roll ons, I don't sweat much but I want to smell fresh as I work closely with others.

However, I've been seeing all these new fancy deodorants in the supermarkets lately and they're just so expensive and I'm scared to try one in case they're rubbish because I can buy ten of my regular deodorant for the price of one of these - I'm really skeptical that their performance matches my existing roll on. Is this the way the world is going though? Is it worth giving them a shot? Or are you one of these people who genuinely somehow don't even need to use any? I've had a couple of colleagues who whiff every so often, and I really don't want to. Its a bit of a shameless request for people's experiences before I go and potential waste my money.

Alum stone

Toooldforthisbollocks · 13/05/2025 07:26

I use sanex sensitive. Used to use mitchum which works well but started to make my armpits itchy.
Tried fussy and found it totally useless.

RampantIvy · 13/05/2025 07:28

Do you mean deodorant or antiperspirant?
I wear antiperspirant because deodorant doesn't stop me perspiring.

I usually use Sure stick antiperspirant.

MassiveOvaryaction · 13/05/2025 07:29

Used to swear by Mitchum but it seemed to stop being as effective for me. Now use Dove Maximum Protection (cream one) which was recommended on here somewhere.

44PumpLane · 13/05/2025 07:29

I think if what you use currently is working for you then you should stick with it.

I used a Sure standard roll on forever, then I got to about 39 and something changed and I started to smell (I had never been smelly before).

I tried a few different deodorants and anti-perspirants and found Wild worked for me so I've been using Wild for the past 4 years or so.

I hate that it's so expensive, especially compared to the old Sure roll ons that used to be £1-1.50 and last ages, but I'd rather not smell so I have to just fork out for the Wild!

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 13/05/2025 07:30

I use Sure or Dove Maximum Protection (a cream one that costs a lot more than a standard roll-on). But I need something longer lasting than standard. You don't, so stick with what you know works for you and save yourself a few quid. You're trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist for you.

Zanatdy · 13/05/2025 07:30

I use a sure roll on and am happy with that, so don’t see a need to change. I used to use a spray, but the dog was sneezing a lot so I switched to roll on and prefer it now. Don’t see the need to change to an expensive brand when this works fine.

mambojambodothetango · 13/05/2025 07:30

Fussy. I like that it's eco friendly packaging and also has no aluminium in it, which is linked to breast cancer. Apparently it also smells nice.

dollyblue01 · 13/05/2025 07:31

I’ve use lidl own brand roll on and sure deodorant.

savuni27 · 13/05/2025 07:32

I use soft and gentle antiperspirant but I need something better! Used to use Mitchum roll on or spray but I started having a reaction to it and my armpits were so sore!

HelloDaisy · 13/05/2025 07:34

I use Mitchum roll on or RockRoseBeauty deodorant paste.

I prefer the paste and it’s better for environment too but often forget to order a new one before other one runs out so use Mitchum in between!

DissDissOrDiss · 13/05/2025 07:36

Sanex Dermo stick and when it’s dried, I spray Dove over the top. I hate the idea of having armpits that sweat / smell.

AmateurNoun · 13/05/2025 07:38

Wild Sea Salt and Cotton. Very effective (I have heard some of the other scents are less effective).

I used to use Mitchum but like others it stopped working when they changed the ingredients. Switching has been great as it has meant I can use my Lumea and now my armpit hair is nearly all gone.

I tried Fussy but it wasn't as effective.

Sunshineandrainbow · 13/05/2025 07:40

Why would you swap if it's working for you? Maybe add a spray of perfume or body spray.

I have spent years trying to solve my smell throwing lots of money at it.. this year I have cracked it with basic dove blue and white roll on.

AltitudeCheck · 13/05/2025 07:40

Sure Maximum Protection. Sometimes it's on offer for £3.50 or £4 and I stock up. It lasts quite a while and works better than anything else I have found.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 13/05/2025 07:41

I tried a few of the expensive ones to avoid aluminum but deodorant doesn't work for me, I have to use antiperspirant. I really don't think they're worth the money unless you really don't sweat. I use dove or sanex usually and it works well.

DameDoggieDoo · 13/05/2025 07:41

I use Pitrok (alum stone) unless I have a really long day ahead in which case I occasionally use a Sure roll on. Like to let my armpits breathe.

ButteredRadishes · 13/05/2025 07:43

Fussy here.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 13/05/2025 07:45

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I use Mitchum roll on.

minnienono · 13/05/2025 07:47

Lidl own brand roll on, cheap as chips!

Ddakji · 13/05/2025 07:47

Right Guard aerosol. No smell. Love it.

orangegato · 13/05/2025 07:53

Sure Men’s deodorant. Works better than women’s for some reason.

Berlinlover · 13/05/2025 08:00

I find Aldi roll on really good.

Jk987 · 13/05/2025 08:06

I use Sure roll on. I’m bothered about the chemicals and aluminium but whenever I’ve tried an eco friendly one, it hasn’t worked

Rolo87south · 13/05/2025 08:16

I was using vaseline intensive spray for years, stopped using now because I still smell sweaty after using it 😕.
I have changed to sanex the blue color spray, works perfectly still smell nice at the end of the day 😊.
