School will give you a list

titchy · 09/05/2025 18:04

Shouldn’t you just ask the school? Confused Is she really allowed to take her phone?

Triptothepark · 09/05/2025 18:06

No devices of any sort allowed when ours go to Osmington Bay. They will even confiscate smart watches so check!

school have probably sent multiple packing lists. Check her bag.

rainbowunicorn · 09/05/2025 18:08

Schools usually give a list of what to bring. Phones, and other devices not usually allowed.

dontunderstandguys · 09/05/2025 18:19

School will give you a list which will be extensive and exhaustive for all weathers! I then just check the forecast a few days before and adjust clothing accordingly!

Tripadvisor101 · 09/05/2025 18:36

Why are you advertising on a large national/international forum exactly where your child will be and the date they'll be there? Madness.

I mean, it’s a safe bet that on most days between April and October there will be a couple hundred kids at Osmington Bay (and all other PGL centres) so this doesn’t exactly give anything away but it’s still a weird post.

OP - next time just ask for tips on anything specific to pack for a PGL trip. No need to state the date and location on a national forum.

True that the centres will pretty much always have kids in them but I can't imagine a time I'd ever advertise exactly where a child would be.

I think the op is specifically asking what to pack for the journey rather than the stay itself. Problem is we have no idea where Osmington Bay is in relation to you (or even at all for many of us!) so we don't know how long the journey is...

MereNoelle · 09/05/2025 18:57

I doubt she’ll be allowed her phone. One of mine has just been on a residential and she didn’t take anything for the coach except a drink. They all just chatted/sang etc.

Ablondiebutagoody · 09/05/2025 19:00

How old is she? How far is the journey? Assuming just a couple of hours, I would pack pretty much nothing. A drink, a few sweets, Uno. The kids will just be screeching and messing around.

Alwaystired2023 · 09/05/2025 19:01

I went to Osmington Bay for my school trip! Near 30 years ago... 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

What did you take on the bus?

Parker231 · 09/05/2025 19:03

How long is the journey? Unless it’s hours, I wouldn’t have thought they would need anything.

Motherknowsrest · 09/05/2025 19:04

The school will tell you, is there a parents evening coming up about the trip? This is primary school? Then of course she can't take a phone.

LilDeVille · 09/05/2025 19:04

It’s not til next half term. School will give you a list.

Lemonade2011 · 09/05/2025 19:06

We got a list when booking and got bits as we went along no phones on residentials either so check first before you buy stuff they don’t need and label everything clearly

Alwaystired2023 · 09/05/2025 21:18

@Ablondiebutagoody 🤣 god knows but I bet I was sick as a dog the whole way!

Ravenview · 09/05/2025 23:00

Just to say I walked past there last week on the coast path. The kids were having so much fun, it looked great. Right by the beach too.

Acommonreader · 10/05/2025 06:59

Water, notebook, pens, sweets ( if allowed). I’m presuming dc are in primary in which case as everyone said- no devices! You’ll get a list, chill out.

BallerinaRadio · 10/05/2025 07:08

It astounds me how many parents enquire about school information on Facebook, never mind on Mumsnet. Does nobody talk to the schools anymore?

32DuploBlocks · 10/05/2025 07:20

My son went to Osmington Bay a few years ago. We were told categorically no sweets allowed at the site due to squirrels having managed to get to them before apparently! They were allowed sweets on the coach. I’m pretty sure they took a lunch to have on the coach too but just wrapped in clingfilm, packets that could be chucked out so they didn’t have 90 smelly lunchboxes after a few days!

mumsforlife123 · 10/05/2025 12:32

Refillable water bottle (but not precious if lost)
