How long is the journey? We just pack lunch as instructed by school and some sweets. School should give you a list for the stay itself.

AliTheMinx · 10/05/2025 13:56

Depending on age, maybe a game for the coach (cards, Top Trumps) or puzzle book. Also a water bottle, waterproof coat and sunhat. Apart from that, I think you've covered everything. I'm sure they'll be too busy chatting to need much. Hope she had a great time!

A drink. Some sweets for the journey a game for the coach ride. They really don’t need much on the coach.

Motherknowsrest · 11/05/2025 15:09

This is AI or a child on a wind up.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 11/05/2025 15:10

I'd send them with a bag of crack some fags and a WKD
HTH

This is awful 😠...how is she meant to smoke the crack without a crack pipe? Terrible parenting 😑

andtheworldrollson · 11/05/2025 15:14

An hour and a half on a coach? Oh I see

At least one full meal - cold pasta salad perhaps plus snacks
a flask of soup and one of coffee as well as water
doggie poo bags and toilet roll and hand gel and Imodium just in case
a pillow and headphones and eye mask and blanket
don’t forget the passport

Hobnobswantshernameback · 11/05/2025 15:15

@Croquembouchiere i am a failure as a parent 🤦‍♀️

Chemenger · 11/05/2025 15:15

90 minutes! In that case a copy of War and Peace, 4 large sandwiches, 3 bananas and 6 cans of coke. But seriously, for an hour and a half she needs water, a bag of crisps and a bag of Percy Pigs. It’s not a long journey.

Does she know how to talk to her friends? If so she’ll be fine

If she’s 13 why on earth are you packing her bag for a ninety minute ride on a coach? Surely she knows what she wants and packs it herself?! She’s not a toddler on a long haul flight.

DelphiniumBlue · 11/05/2025 15:17

I've arranged several school trips this year, using 3 different coach companies, and none of them allow eating or drinking on the coach. The school will let you know if you are required to send a packed lunch.
There's always the parent who sends their DC without a water bottle, hat or suncream, don't be that parent. Make sure to pack a spare of trainers in case they get the main ones wet. Send a few plastic bags for wet or dirty clothes. But if your DC is in Y6 they will have a pretty good idea of what they need. Has there been a meeting at school and a list sent home?

FortyElephants · 11/05/2025 15:17

It's an hour and a half and she'll be with her friends. Chill.

Nothing? Why does she need anything for that short a journey? Can't she just talk to her friends? Why are you posting the same thing 3 times but not responding to any other posts?

I doubt she will be allowed to take her phone. For such a short journey she won’t need to take anything on the coach.

potenial · 11/05/2025 16:04

Check what the school advise on their packing list, as there'll probably be some things that can't be taken, somethings that need to be taken and there'll be rules about eating/ drinking on the coach.
Personally against electronics on trips like this, they'll not have much time to use them, there's a big risk of them getting damaged and they're not covered by PGL/ school insurance, and there won't be enough plugs to charge everyones, so I'd advise against bringing phones.

Otherwise, for hand luggage I'd advise;

  • Refillable water bottle
  • Small game, such as uno or dobble or a pack of cards
  • Notebook and pens
  • Named purse with allowed pocket money (if pocket money is allowed)
  • Any food as specific by the school (sweets if allowed, packed lunch if needed etc)
  • Sunglasses and sun hat
  • Sun cream
  • Camera (if permitted, maybe a disposable one, or an old digital one)
  • If she has any medication, that should also be in hand luggage bag, if not handed into teachers

An hour and a half on a bus with her friends won't require much in the way of entertaining for 13 year olds!
If you've got questions about what is allowed, or would be useful, make a note of them, and either take them along to the pre-trip meeting, or email them to the teacher in charge of the trip a few weeks before she goes.

DelphiniumBlue · 11/05/2025 16:15

Sorry , missed that DD is in fact 13!.

what do you mean but like what else should I bring

Are you the child in question? Can you ask your teacher or someone in your class?

Given that it’s a 90 min coach trip, you don’t need anything really…

As a teacher who has taken many trips to OB in the past, please could pack some sort of sanitary protection for your daughter, amazing how many girls start their periods there!
