Sounds mad but it’s true, honest! If you have 3 kids…

Same dad, no miscarriages to ‘break the chain’, if the first 2 are opposite sex, the third will be whatever number 2 was - so BGG, or GBB. Not BGB, or GBG.

It sounds crazy but it’s something I noticed ages ago - every time somebody announces they’re having a third, and they have one of each, I know it will be the same as the second child.

Prove me wrong, Mumsnetters!

All statistic show you start at basically 50:50 for each child, regardless of what has gone before. One's friendship circle is not statistically significant.

What about the research posted previously which shows correlations in sex? And as also pointed out previously, a sample size is not something which can be statistically significant.

I don’t actually know many who have 3 where the first 2 are opposite sex. But the ones I’m thinking of are

BGB

&

GBG

& another with 4 GBGG.

I have GGG. I feel like i could have 26 children and they’d all be girls, I don’t know why.

True for me: GBB. For those saying families with two the opposite sex don’t have a third - out number 3 was six years later and a total surprise! But I know families with same thirds and different thirds so not exactly to OP’s theory.

It's true for me - BGG.

I'm pregnant with my 4th now and we're going to find out the gender on Monday at the 20 week scan.

It will likely be a girl again based on nub analysis and what Chat GTP thinks.

But we'll see :)

I’ve just gone through all the multi-kid families I know (slow news day) and almost all the ones who have had opposite genders for 1 and 2 have gone on to have same gender as 1 for their third. Opposite to your theory. Soooo, in my (totally anecdotal and statistically unreliable) survey, your theory doesn’t hold up. Sorry!
