Sounds mad but it’s true, honest! If you have 3 kids…

Same dad, no miscarriages to ‘break the chain’, if the first 2 are opposite sex, the third will be whatever number 2 was - so BGG, or GBB. Not BGB, or GBG.

It sounds crazy but it’s something I noticed ages ago - every time somebody announces they’re having a third, and they have one of each, I know it will be the same as the second child.

Prove me wrong, Mumsnetters!

I had BBBBBBG

Momager12345 · 08/05/2025 18:19

I have BGB

SwanOfThoseThings · 08/05/2025 18:19

The only example I can think of (I do know people with three children but I can't remember their sexes) is William and Catherine Wales - doesn't work for them!

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 08/05/2025 18:25

No.

I have DD1, DS and DD2.

Though family I was born in was DS DD1 DD2 - which made room sharing easier.

Luckily we ended up in a 4 bed before they hit teen years.

Blindtwitcher101 · 08/05/2025 18:25

I am from a family of GBG and my husband is the opposite BGB both of us share the same dad as our siblings

Anothersayinparadise · 08/05/2025 18:30

My anecdotal theory on siblings when you just have two is there is usually only 1 or 2 months between them if end of one month and beginning of another. So sibling group one July and August, sibling group two July and August, sibling group three October and November etc etc every 2 child family I know follows this pattern regardless of year age gap.

BiffandChip2 · 08/05/2025 18:34

I've got BBG soo...

Beautifulweeds · 08/05/2025 18:37

Sorry not true for my family. Xxx

TheignT · 08/05/2025 18:38

The late Queen had boy girl boy boy. If it's good enough for her it must be ok.

auderesperare · 08/05/2025 18:38

Like many on this thread, I had GBG, same father no miscarriages — I don’t believe there is any scientific evidence for this.

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 08/05/2025 18:38

Bgg

Mine were November January.

Crunchymum · 08/05/2025 18:43

I'm BGG but I've had many miscarriages over the years.

Only other people I know know with 3 are GBG and BBB.

QuartzIlikeit · 08/05/2025 18:43

BGB here. No miscarriages either

Kevintheelf80 · 08/05/2025 18:44

My mum had gbgb and I have gbg as do 3 of my friends

canyouseemyhousefromhere · 08/05/2025 18:45

Well I’m no.3 with older sister then brother same parents.
GBG

Nunaluna · 07/05/2025 20:12

It’s just something I’ve noticed - every time somebody with a boy and a girl announces they’re expecting number 3 I think ‘oh yeah that’ll be a boy/girl’ depending on what number 2 was, and sure enough I always seem to be right!

Have you come across the term confirmation bias?!

Partridgewell · 08/05/2025 18:47

Works for me OP - GBB.

Missingpop · 08/05/2025 18:47

You need to get out more; I imagine you sit rocking waiting for the postman & lick the windows with excitement when the milkman’s due for his money 🤦‍♀️ the excitement is just to much

sueelleker · 08/05/2025 18:48

Does this only apply if you stop at three? My sister has five kids; three girls, then a boy, and another girl to finish.

Bryonyberries · 08/05/2025 18:48

I had BGGG.

katseyes7 · 08/05/2025 18:48

No. My best friend is the middle of three and she has an older and a younger brother.

FreddieMercurysCat · 08/05/2025 18:52

BBB here, although middle B is now a G.
