Just17 magazine and Rufus the model

Random bored Wednesday afternoon work discussion...

Just17 magazine used to regularly feature a model called Rufus. One person had his picture all over her wall. Another person thought he was odd looking.

We need to settle who was right! 🤣 (From a teenage girl point of view, not an adult woman perving over a topless young model! Otherwise eww!)

Who was Rufus?
Is he still a model?
Was he poster worthy or odd looking?

Personally I had no opinion on him. If he wasn't David Duchovny, I wasn't interested. 😂

YABU - I fancied him
YANBU - Nah, I'd skip those pages

I dont remember Malcolm but his tattoos are definitely of a time aren't they!

Thank you for the photo of Rufus. I can imagine my friends fancying the floppy wavey hair.

Zoe doesn't look very happy though does she! The face nuzzled into her neck is maybe a bit too intimate?

Looking at her hair though, I remember Just17 (it was probably them as I didn't really read other mags) did an article where they gave girls a make over and had their boyfriend (and their friend's boyfriends!?!) rate them. One girl had her hair flicked out at the bottom with a couple of small braids at the front. The boys loved it. She hated it and said she would never wear her hair like that. The interviewer asked her why she wouldn't if her boyfriend liked it so much and she said something like because it's my hair and I don't want to. It was so badass! The article finished saying that they hoped she'd reconsider because boys opinions are important. 🤣

I was 18 when those Coats fashion pages came out - my kids are aged 14-18 and wouldn't look out of place in them now. In fact one of my 14 year olds even has the Reebok trainers in the first picture.
The kids are always asking why my their dad and I didn't keep our clothes from when we were late teens/early twenties so they could wear them now!

Do you remember in one of the teen magazines where they stopped young men in the street to ask various questions and printed a picture of them? My husband was one of them! I'm sure we have a copy of it in the loft somewhere.

I saw someone in town today wearing pretty much the identical outfit I used to love (long satin skirt with oversized woolly jumper and converse). I refuse to admit I wouldn't get a thigh into that skirt these days!

Also, I do sometimes see the floral strappy dress over a white t-shirt. I could do that again. I've been looking out for a pretty ditzy dress.

I'm waiting for the cropped jumper over an man's white shirt with big cuffs to come back. 🤣

I still have an original Just Seventeen batwing sweatshirt ( 100% cotton because that’s proper)

It was a reader offer. Wore it a 6th form disco. Lasted so well nearly 40 years old !
