Just17 magazine and Rufus the model

Random bored Wednesday afternoon work discussion...

Just17 magazine used to regularly feature a model called Rufus. One person had his picture all over her wall. Another person thought he was odd looking.

We need to settle who was right! 🤣 (From a teenage girl point of view, not an adult woman perving over a topless young model! Otherwise eww!)

Who was Rufus?
Is he still a model?
Was he poster worthy or odd looking?

Personally I had no opinion on him. If he wasn't David Duchovny, I wasn't interested. 😂

I boy I casually dated was a model winner for Miss, More or J17, can’t remember. He was lovely looking back then. Came across him online recently, now he just looks like his dad 😆

I vaguely remember her. There was also one called Colette with dark hair who was very pretty.

I got the first one which came free with Smash Hits. Pretty sure there’s a copy or two of later editions somewhere in the house, I know there’s a copy of Looks stored away too.

Does anyone remember the free body spray they gave away once? The one I had was called Wild at Heart, and I loved it. Almost as much as Charlie Red and Tribe perfume.

I also had a massive thing for David Duchovny, and managed to save the teacup picture from my horrified grandads paper. It then lived in my locked at school.

I think Rufus was my Just Seventeen male model of choice, although I didn’t really fancy any of them - I didn’t get the fuss about male models (guess who turned out to be a lesbian 🙄) I especially didn’t understand why everybody fancied Malcolm: I thought he looked greasy and gross. His oily long hair 🤢

I remember some of the female models too - Cher was too gorgeous to be true, Susan was like a pretty pixie, Tess with a sleek dark bob, Lucy with a massive smile.

I was a Derek & Keith fan.
