Grr.

Had a bad day and maybe a little oversensitive.

First and foremost,they are children.

And they are loved.

He was laughing with him. It was so cute. His parents said that he loves little kids and always trys to make them laugh. Which my DS does too.

posieparker, in my ds's case they found at the 20 week scan, which acutally took place at 21 weeks, that there was "something wrong", but they couldn't be sure what it was. We then had scan after scan where they tried to find out what was going on, at 28 weeks we were told that ds "had a genetic abnormality which could result in anything from mild developmental delay to incompatiblity with life" He is now nearly 2 and we still don't have a clear diagnosis.

Things are not always clear-cut.

I knew a girl who could not breathe without assistance, was fed by a tube, couldnt talk, couldn't walk, read, write or do any of the things most of us take for granted.

BUT she was always smiling, she'd react by blowing a kiss when she saw her parents or anyone she liked and would show affection by stroking our hands.

Her mother was told to abort her. She lived untl she was 11 and always gave the impression of being happy despite everything.

emkana, I understand it's not cut and dry but for some things that are (the very few) I have already made my decision, in theory.

In answer to KM's question. I think I would terminate, given the circs you have described.

That said, when I was looking down the barrel of the gun with my DD (she had 1 in 4 Downs chance - Barts test), I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that if she did have Downs, I couldn't and wouldn't terminate, even though, pre-pregnancy, I thought I would.
