I'm considering buying one for anxiety as I do like babys but are they truly worth it?

Get a teddy instead.

SchnizelVonKrumm · 27/04/2025 19:20

They are creepy AF.

ETA I hope you find something to address your anxiety Flowers

Marylou2 · 27/04/2025 19:21

I'm sorry you're anxious, it's horrible.Reborn dolls are so creepy though.

LuckysDadsHat · 27/04/2025 19:22

Personally I find them weird and a bit creepy but I know that is me being most likely narrow minded.

I know they have started being used for some therapies (eg dementia patients). However I think if you want them for anxiety it may be better to look at more conventional treatments if possible.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 27/04/2025 19:22

I find them really creepy too.

Gretnaglebe · 27/04/2025 19:24

If owning one might make you happy then have one. They don’t have to be expensive.

Houseplantsaresoothing · 27/04/2025 19:24

I find them very upsetting.
But that's my personal opinion.
If you think one will help you OP then buy one.
It's really up to you and how you feel, not how other people feel.

Mylegishangingoff · 27/04/2025 19:25

It's your money, do whatever makes you happy with it. I'm sure most people have purchases that make them happy but others would deem a waste of money. I spent €180 on running shoes the other day, some people would find that crazy.

Mum2jenny · 27/04/2025 19:26

If you want one and think it’ll help your anxiety, and you have the money, just go for it.

user2848502016 · 27/04/2025 19:26

I think they’re a bit creepy but if you want one and think it would help you, why not. It’s not harming anyone is it x

JDM625 · 27/04/2025 19:27

I would assume the person needing one had severe mental health issues from trauma or other issues which weren't being helped elsewhere or never sought help. Potentially being used in a care home for people with dementia patients.

Do you have any mental health support OP? If not, please speak to your GP as a first step.

ExtraOnions · 27/04/2025 19:27

If you want one, get one .. plenty of people do.

They aren’t for me, but, it’s not me that wants one.

It’s your money, spend it on whatever makes you happy.

Wakemeupbe4yougogo · 27/04/2025 19:28

I used to work in a nursing home and they had some for the residents. The residents loved them. The carers used to shudder passing them round! There's something very fundamentally creepy about them.

Could you have a pet? Cats are great company or a dog?

ToKittyornottoKitty · 27/04/2025 19:29

It doesn’t matter if other people don’t like them, if you do then get one, what harm can it do? Different people like different things. I don’t like dolls but I do spend way too much money on my cats because I like that. So what makes you happy

SnoozingFox · 27/04/2025 19:29

Creepy and weird and not going to resolve the anxiety. See your GP or look into counselling/therapy/CBT instead.

100%

Weird as fuck. I can think of a million other ways to ease anxiety.

I work in a funeral home and they remind me of dead babies 😩.

Branleuse · 27/04/2025 19:29

Ive considered it too. Some are cute. A lot creepy though, but i bet they're lovely to hold

LMBWSS · 27/04/2025 19:30

Can I ask (you don’t have to say!) why you believe a reborn doll will help your anxiety?

I too suffer from anxiety and have no answers that will help, save for if you believe it will help, it must be worth a try.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 27/04/2025 19:30

I think they’re horrendous.

A fake dead baby. Why is that even a thing?

Absolutely shocking.

Notsure54 · 27/04/2025 19:31

It the weight of them that help me tbh

OP posts:
DoYouReally · 27/04/2025 19:32

The money would be far better spent on counselling.

Have you got a good weighted blanket?

Yes well that's why I find them upsetting but I wasn't going to actually say that in my post . Really unnecessary.

IWantAMassiveEasterEgg · 27/04/2025 19:33

Would a weighted blanket not be nicer?
