To dare to think that the Cult of Dog has gone too far?

There is now not a single public space in my home town that is dog-free - and that includes cafes, restaurants and even the library. Local beaches, once a quiet escape, have turned into asylums for the fur baby/pupper brigade to inflict their poorly trained animals on others with children getting chased, people jumped on and tripped over and all to the sound of hysterical barking and frequent dog fights.
80 year old woman knocked over by uncontrollable dog? 'You got in his way'.
Ask politely that you take your dog away from our lunch table? 'Go fuck yourself'.
Sit on the most remote bench you can find? Peri-menopausal wild eyed harridan lets loose 3 dogs from her 4x4 to jump all over you and laughs that it's 'their spot' and turns unhinged when you push them away.
Yes, this is a rant and yes I hate most dog owners.
This weird cult that values darling dogs over human beings is actually pretty worrying.
I shall await the inevitable and hilarious 'incoming' from the emotionally stunted Doggo Nutters.

Oh I can assure you some children have made me fell unwell, with their high pitched squealing, snot covered faces, manners of a pig in a sty, and generally repulsive antics.

@peeweemermaid

thats not an allergy hun, that’s you just being highly strung

You can't simultaneously have a problem with people who don't pick up shit and people who do pick up shit.

I really can 😆 well actually, I don’t have a problem with poo-picker-uppers as people, and never said I did. I just think it’s gross to carry it around swinging and if a friend is gonna strike up a conversation with me with that under my nose I would make my excuses and go ASAP. Grim!

I will caveat, since someone also said I must need my smelling salts on the daily 😆 maybe @vodkaredbullgirl , dunno who but that rings a bell…. Anyway 2 caveats 1) it’s the sight of it that’s gross as well as any potential smell, and scented bags are gross too 2) I don’t like to think of any poo in plastic. Why would I. My babies’ poos always went down the toilet fwiw, just as sewage should. Yes, nappies are gross too. Who thinks otherwise?? I’d say they’re the oddballs tbh!

Anyone who starts a rant about the cult of dogs on an online forum is a cretin, and anyone who cant take criticism about their darling issue should join them in the cretin corner..

I'm still chuckling at that poster feeling the need to point out that dogs aren't tax payers 😄

OonaStubbs · 02/05/2025 16:57

It doesn't mean that you hate dogs just because you don't like seeing them all the time, in almost every place it is possible to go.

No you just have some bizarre obsession with them that I only ever see on here.

I agree. The funniest is when you see dogs in prams who look desperate to get out and walk.

My neighbour does this with her dogs 😂 the first time I thought it was a baby!

Yeah but at least parents produce something useful in the form of future taxpayers who will fund your pension, staff your hospital, police your neighbourhood and wipe your bottom in your care home.

Can’t say the same about a dog.

Not all parents - maybe there should have to have some sort of licence to have kids.

We have kids around here who like to kill the local wildlife with catapults. I doubt the little bastards will grow up and do anything worthwhile. I have no idea if the parents know but they don't seem to do anything about it but maybe they would if their little shits had to be licensed and there was comeback on them. If it was a dog everyone would quite rightly be up in arms about it.

@peeweemermaid

a child badly behaved or otherwise might be annoying for you, but they won’t make you ill. Whereas a dog would make someone with a dog allergy ill.

Humans trump dogs, END OF!

Dog faeces everywhere it's revolting, and little plastic bags with dog feces oozing out of them everywhere🤮🤮🤮🤮
Dog people walking along swinging their little bags of dog feces 🤮🤮🤮🤮

You'd moan if we didn't have bags of poo cos you'd presume we hadn't picked it up.

Having kids doesn’t guarantee anything! Ever heard of roadmen, rapists? MPs, paedophiles, murderers? Maybe their parents were too busy writing anti-dog rants and policing the world to actually parent. Meanwhile, dogs aren’t out here stabbing people, snatching phones, stealing, or blaming the world for their lack of likes and job prospects.

The NHS is hanging by a thread, the police don’t even show up if you’re burgled, and by the time I need help wiping my bum, I’ll trust a robot over your emotionally stunted offspring.

Reproducing doesn’t make you a saint. Some of us chose loyalty, protection, and unconditional love from our furry companions, along with the unwavering love and support of family and friends. You chose someone who’ll probably ghost you in a care home with no forwarding address.

A couple of years ago, someone on a local FB group was following a family of two swans and their seven cygnets. Lots of lovely photos and updates.
Then one day, she got photos of some teens using catapults aimed at the swans. They killed two of the cygnets.
She was flamed to oblivion for posting photos of kids. It was ridiculous.

I used to work in a kid's hospital. Kids make you ill. Heard of D&V? You can't catch it from your dog but you can catch it from a stranger's kid.

I was in Costa today and a mum came in wanting to use the loo to change her kid's nappy. She got everything out and got her baby ready to carry into the loo... except someone walked past her and got there first. Rather than wait, she sat on the table less than 3 feet from me, and changed the nappy right there and then. I was put off my cake because I could smell shit. It made me feel ill and I did put in a complaint. I was told it happens all the time.

So what do you propose I do with it?

You'd moan if I didn't pick it up (Which I agree is disgusting when people just leave it) and it's gross to carry it. On our usual 5 mile dog walk there is a total of 2 bins. One right by our house, and one at the entrance to the field we walk around. It's not like i've walked past 17 bins and just decided to carry it so i'd love to hear your alternative.

OonaStubbs · 03/05/2025 11:13

If Labour or the Tories need to regain votes from Reform, bringing in some policies to stop dogs is a guaranteed vote winner.

Bins are getting harder to find and many of them are overflowing due to cuts to council budgets. If I see someone ‘swinging their bag’ I usually think ‘good for you, thanks for being responsible’ not ‘urgh’. @LostGhost there are some companies that sell enclosed bags that you can store the plastic poo bags in so it doesn’t spoil your walk. I’m not promoting products or anything, there are several brands. I have one that’s pretty useful. Brand name rhymes with Micky and you can google them.

ilovepixie · 03/05/2025 12:04

Dogs aren’t the problem. It’s the owners. I’m in Spain and people take their dogs everywhere. They keep them under control and clear up after them. I’ve not seen any dog mess anywhere .

so you really think dogs are more important than humans? If you get run over tomorrow is it your precious dog who is gonna operate on you and save your life?? No it’s the highly trained humans working in the hospital. Get a grip!

😂 you lot really, really make me want to stop being a responsible owner.

and how would that benefit your dog?
