I bought my DS a £12 Easter egg and I’ve gobbled up most of it, as he’d forgotten about it. I gave him the cheap ones as I was enjoying the expensive one. Disgusting behaviour I know… 😳🫣

As I buy the Easter bunny's eggs to bring to our house, I make sure mine is a good one!

@RedWhite It is called self sacrifice, you are thinking of your child’s well-being, not your own waistline, teeth, skin, cholesterol etc. The epitome of excellent parenting.

And I have just remembered that it is a well known FACT that three weeks after Easter chocolate eggs are cursed, so unless we want to bring disaster upon disaster to the world all eggs must be eaten by that date.

DorsetMumTo3 · 24/04/2025 21:55

It’s “Parent tax”… don’t feel guilty (hope you enjoyed it lol)

Nikki7506 · 24/04/2025 22:12

When I was pregnant with baby number 3 I had bought 20 eggs and hid them in the garage......over 2 days I ate them all. I then went for a gestational diabetes test and the midwife was worried sick by my sugars😬🤣

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 24/04/2025 22:12

Twelve nicker for an Easter Egg for a child!!! I don't yhink so.

Far too much.

In 1963. I was 8. And Our Mam, said that there wasn't even the equivalent a bar of chocolate in a regular Cadburys Easter Egg.(This was when ordinary Cadbury' choc was delish)

She said you that were paying for a load of cardboard and shiny packaging.

This was the same year. Our Dad said that Christmas was getting too commercialised.

I was brought up by kind, good people. Not the Scrooge Family and of course got Easter Eggs and Christmas and Birthday presents.

Hhmmm. A bit dodgy this story of yours about the expensive, forgotten Easter Egg you ate.

But your secret is safe with me my dear.

Next year. Take my advice.Get yourself an even more expensive one. and hide it. And cheapos for the kids from ALDI or Poundland.

Happy Days.

Enjoy

😂😂 Haha dont worry about it. Iv done this , as have my friends, even at Xmas, other chocolate occasions 😂😂😂😂 forever replacing chocolate 😂💗

Goditsmemargaret · 25/04/2025 08:35

Our LO mentioned how last year the huge Easter egg she got from Granny 'disappeared'. She didn't seem overly concerned then suddenly a shadow passed over her face "Daddy!".

Alip1965 · 25/04/2025 09:07

That's normal. I have eaten and replaced my grandsons Easter eggs twice. Turned up easter Sunday with them and my daughter said where's my egg. Sorry... I ate it. 😋 when she was small she use to think Easter eggs only came with the one half I use to eat half. Re wrap and put back.

Brutalass · 25/04/2025 09:56

Assuming your darling son is a child and not a chocolatier - I'm thinking he wouldn't truly appreciate it and hey, as has been said before 'self care!'

Sooner it's gone sooner it's forgotten! ;)

I hope you enjoyed it.

Kirstk · 25/04/2025 12:37

I always "share" my sons Easter eggs too much chocolate will make them sick you're just saving an upset tummy! You enjoy that chocolate 🥰

Well, my dh is away for work this week, and I just searched everywhere for the big dark chocolate Lindor bunny the Easter Bunny got him. I figured I was entitled to it now that Easter is over! 😄 Sadly, it looks like he’s taken it with him, in his cabin bag. 😡

Edited

Nooooooooo! You'll have to go out & buy yourself a cut-price Easter treat now. There's nothing worse than thinking there's chocolate in the house & finding out there isn't. That's why the true chocaholic knows how many bars/squares are left at all times. We don't even have to count, we just know.

Update

Thanks for everyone’s support and not being harsh on me. There was a handful of cutting replies but the vast majority of you have forgiven me, so I’m able to forgive myself - Thank you.

DS is so loved and cared for. He gets lots of treats and particularly loves sweets, so I wouldn’t have dared scoff them. Chocolate he’s a bit ‘Meh’ with, which is why I bought him a special one. Greediness took over, I admit and I had no self discipline to stop myself.

There is still a blob of it left, not sure whether to give it to him so he can enjoy it or whether it will cause carnage when it reminds him and he wonders where the rest of its gone. Thought I could say it had a bit of mould on so I chucked it in the bin…

Anyway, thanks for not judging me!

Been there, got the T-shirt. Who's going to know ? I can keep a secret.

Sorry to be so vulgar, but how on earth did you do that, without shitting through the eye of a needle? I can’t eat more than a few of them, without getting a dodgy tum. Combined with alcohol, I’d never get off the loo! I love After Eights, but they just don’t love me 😭 (It’s the same with any mint flavoured things, don’t know what it is that causes it). I swear I’m literally the reason they have the laxative warning on the back of polos, and chewing gum 😂

I feel for you, mint chocolate is my favourite and I can eat a fuckton of it!

Jigsawasaurus · 26/04/2025 12:08

Eat the last bit @RedWhite and don't think anything of it.

You don't mention the age of your DS, but I'd see that £12 egg as a lovely gift from your DS to you! It's all about your viewpoint. Next year be sure to treat yourself again!

Honestly it’s so depressing 😭😭
I love mint chocolate. I can manage a full standard Mint Aero, but with After Eights, Bendicks, Elizabeth Shaw, Lindt, even Fry’s Peppermint, I have to be so careful 😭 I don’t know if it’s a specific ingredient or what, but it makes my tummy so dodge.

What he doesn’t know, won’t hurt him.
Just eat the last bit, and deny all knowledge 😜

BennyBee · 27/04/2025 07:12

My kids are fully aware that if they don’t eat their Easter Eggs quickly, they’re fair game for mum when she’s peckish. It’s wise of you to train your son up early.

Divadahlia · 27/04/2025 09:43

And hot cross buns with plenty of butter!

Goodtogossip · 29/04/2025 14:09

Think on it as good parenting. You're saving him from tooth decay, weight gain & feeling poorly after eating too much chocolate. So really you've nothing to confess to other than being a great parent. 😏
