Have you already sent it off? I'd say it'll definitely be back before July.

Fidgety31 · 23/04/2025 10:09

You could’ve gone in person and got a quicker appt… not sure if they still allow the upgrade service ?

socks1107 · 23/04/2025 10:11

My husband did his this month and it was done in ten days

DapperDame · 23/04/2025 10:11

I renewed mine a couple of weeks ago and got the new one e within 7 days!! To say I was shocked is an understatement! If you apply for it right now you should be fine.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 23/04/2025 10:12

My friend sent for a new passport (as hers was lost) in early April. Came within a week. Do it NOW. It should come by the end of May! (She did it online!)

Why did you leave it so late?

Hoppinggreen · 23/04/2025 10:14

When we renewed DS's last year it took around 10 days I think
You should be ok

Ablondiebutagoody · 23/04/2025 10:19

Chill out. It will be done before July

Why did you leave it so late?

Perhaps the OP didn't think she could renew it til it ended? (You can. You can renew it anytime.) Mine was due to end in July 2022, and I was planning on going away in September 2022. So I just sent for a new passport in March 2022. I preferred losing 4 months of the 10 year passport, to sending for it later, and not getting it in time.

Go to the post office and get them to help renew it , it comes back quicker as they have prechecked it

Energe · 23/04/2025 10:23

July? Yes. It’s April. You’ll have it within a week or two.

Luigiy · 23/04/2025 10:29

OP, as an FYI in case you weren’t aware - you don’t have to wait for it to expire on May 27th. Mine runs out 23rd August and I’m travelling September but I’m going to apply for a renewal on Monday.

And no OPs not left it late, if they apply by end of month it’ll probably be done by late May if not before and definitely by July.

Pharos · 23/04/2025 10:29

According to this website that monitors waiting times, average is 10 days for a straightforward adult renewal atm.

Doing it through the post office doesn’t guarantee it’ll be any quicker, the way the website’s set up now means that they verify everything as you do it including whether the picture is suitable.

If you send it off now, I couldn’t see why you wouldn’t have it back before July. You don’t have to wait until the expiry date to renew.

Ladybug1897 · 23/04/2025 10:32

DP renewed his in March took less than 2 weeks

Why did you leave it so late?

Huh? She's got almost 3 months? Standard turnaround time at the moment is about 2 weeks.

You'll be fine OP.

What a useful and constructive addition to the thread. Why don’t you lend op your 20/20 hindsight glasses and Time Machine and she can sort it out! 🙄

OP you’re not even late. You’ll have it back before the expiry date.

skippy67 · 23/04/2025 10:36

I renewed mine 3 weeks ago. Online application, took my own photo. Sent off on the Friday, new passport received the following Thursday. So less than a week, including a weekend. Impressive!

gottakeeponmoving · 23/04/2025 10:40

I renewed on a Monday and my new passport arrived on the Friday. This was a few weeks ago.
If it’s a straight forward renewal I don’t see why it wouldn’t arrive before holiday. Be sure to send off your old passport without delay.

How quaint, you've tried sarcasm.

MyUmberSeal · 23/04/2025 11:21

You haven’t left it too late. That was a useless and belligerent thing for a pp to say.
You’ll have it back within 2 weeks, plenty of time. No panic required.
