I'll go first 😆

-Kids sharing rooms
-Complaining about schools or teachers
-Feeling upset about a friend hurting you
-Having more than 1 kid on an income under circa 50-100k, or having more than two on an income under circa 100-150k
-Renting long term
Complaining about dogs being given human rights.
Complaining about grandparents care of DC's 'because it's free so like it or lump it!'

Step mums having anything to do with raising step kids under their roof “ask their dad to do it” 🫣

AInightingale · 22/04/2025 08:07

Your children making any sort of noise whatsoever, especially when living in a flat or terraced or semi-detached house, or doing anything but 'playing quietly' in the garden, never in the street, or committing those cardinal sins, bouncing a ball, especially inside, ever, or making squeaky sounds on a trampoline. Adults laughing and socialising in their gardens are also disapproved of, particularly if this involves smoke (barbecue, cigarette) drifting over the boundary. And a guest who smokes, even outside the home of a non-smoker, is to be resoundingly condemned as an antisocial menace.

Also cats, which have to be kept indoors or enclosed on a par with dangerous reptiles.

Not wanting a million children at your wedding! Weddings are not for the bride and groom, but for the whole family and community.

And an off shoot of social services

Having children before age 30.
And god forbid age 25

I saw a post where somone used the term Karen and got flamed

Good, it’s misogyny.

godmum56 · 22/04/2025 08:17

Lovemyones · 21/04/2025 22:56

The only problem with "Karen" is there are many really lovely people that are named Karen that I feel bad about 😩

yup. I have a real problem with any name used as an insult.

Happyfeet234 · 22/04/2025 08:20

Having a business. Anyone with one is patronised about if it’s a hobby / craft / MLM business as if women can only have these sort of businesses. It’s embarrassing.

I started a AMA about making millions in mine and got torn apart saying I was a scammer it was so weird. I thought it would have been interesting!

I have felt the rath on MN for:

-Disagreeing with people washing teatowels along with underwear.

  • Thinking breastfed babies should be allowed at weddings

-standing up for those on UC

  • spending money on anything that's not needed. Only needs should be accounted for, every other piece of earning needs to be saved in a high interest account.

The most shocking thing for me , with it being a parenting forum, is the amount of people who have a complete intolerance people for kids. It seems many still believe that they should be seen and not heard. They are an inconvenience and should be kept indoors until they are young adults at least 😅 toddlers should not misbehave in public, if they do it's because their parents are completely failing. But then again they shouldn't even be outside in public in the first place.

Thinking the normal polite & nice thing to do is move on an airplane if it means a child can be sat with their family. Even when you’ve paid twelve whole pounds for your seat of choice.

I wouldn't be moving.

ItsUpToYou · 22/04/2025 08:27

I stand by the dog one - why would a dog have human rights?

Other things:

  • giving your child a name beginning with K
  • giving your child a name that ends in -den
  • using toilet brushes (although I haven’t seen this one come up in a while)
  • having children with an abusive man before you realised he was abusive (“why on earth did you have children with this man?” 🙄)
  • parking your car pretty much anywhere that isn’t on your own drive, and if you don’t have a drive, that’s just tough
  • not caring if someone wants to use different pronouns
  • going to a&e in an emergency unless your arm is hanging off
AInightingale · 22/04/2025 08:30

Not driving. Or suggesting that some people can have any quality of life if they don't drive or own a car.

Mumsgirls · 22/04/2025 08:31

Most of us quite rightly got fed up of blameless women having their fairly normal name used as a lazy insult. People only copied it from the USA. Thank goodness, mumsnet stamped on this and it’s become quite rare. So yes you try it and you will get told off on here and rightly so.
Odd that that you find it strange that we stand up for innocent women on here. It’s one of the main benefits if the site. Hope you get it now, you are definately in the wrong here.

Being told how lucky you are and to be grateful for everything when your life is a struggle.

Leave the bastard (this said for the flimsiest of reasons in some circumstances. )

Complaining about grandparents care of DC's 'because it's free so like it or lump it!'

I’ve noticed a tendency for Mumsnet users to side with GPs regardless of the topic/context because “well, they obviously just love their DGC so much”. Would be interesting to see the stats on which age group makes up the largest amount of Mumsnet users…

Finallydoingit24 · 22/04/2025 08:41

-Blended families/ step-parents
-Any suggestion that a child is anything but traumatised by growing up in a blended family
-50/50 parenting following separation
-Introducing new partners to kids (ideally they shouldn’t meet until kids are adults, maybe never)

Not sure what you’re trying to say but I seriously doubt the largest group of users are grandparents.

Pronouncing Ottilie o-tilly.

Isn't that because it's the wrong pronunciation?!

BernardButlersBra · 22/04/2025 08:46

-IVF
-c sections (god forbid you have IVF and need a c section because the baby was breach!)
-using a name like their child's
