Totally agree. It's disgusting. And only 30% currently disagreeing in OP's poll.

Because posts like this attract mostly people who agree with the poster. I generally avoid the posts as they’ve been done to death on MN, so I scroll on by as I’ve said all what I want to say on other threads, so it feels a bit like Groundhog Day. But I’m bored tonight, so thought I haven’t really commented on these weekly dog threads for a while, so wth……..

So if I moan about your kids whilst on hoilday you will book a sitter too? ….or not?

You do realise kids are human beings? And that there is actually a different between people and dogs?... 🙄

I love taking mine everywhere. He is a sentient being and a part of my family. Even my GP has his dog in his consultation room which I absolutely love!

WTF

Not necessarily. I've seen loads of disagree responses over the years I've been on mumsnet. But your version fits your narrative...

That's disgusting. Mind saying which GP surgery?

Where on earth do you live? Pet heaven? If not deal with it, if more people want to take pets than don’t then it’s tough. What do you want? You with no pet going to eat with no one else that has a pet. Ok you pay 400 for your no pet place on your own

I think they have a point.
I just googled "dog free" cafes and all that came up was dog friendly ones.

In the past, I have searched for holiday accommodation that had private hot tubs. You can't do a search for accommodation that does not have hot tubs. I guess the same issue applies to dog friendly places.

But, that is not the fault of dog owners.

Surgarblossom · 19/04/2025 22:15

Agreed!

This is where PP say the GP is blind and the dog is guide dog. Would it be disgusting then?

🤣🤣🤣 it did give me a laugh, after thinking WTF! Not to mention, some of the kids being scared of the dog, honestly fking dumbass owner!

I'm still at WTF 🙈

The problem is, so many dog owners think everyone loves their dog and have no capacity to understand that not everyone does. The dog in the children's story-time in the library is the perfect example of that 🤦🏼‍♀️

Livelovebehappy · 19/04/2025 22:16

Depends where you live. Now if you visit St Anne’s, I can name several cafes there that don’t welcome dogs. I take my own dog there sometimes as not too far from where I live, and through trial and error, there were quite a few that said I couldn’t take in my dog. Which is fine with me - their prerogative. I just find somewhere that does. So if you live near there, go for it. Also I can give you names of some cafes in Skipton.

NamechangeJunebaby · 19/04/2025 22:17

surreygirl1987 · 19/04/2025 22:06

Don't you feel embarrassed to be admitting that you take your dog shopping with you? 🤢

I take mine shopping. Not all of the time. Only where she’s welcome. And not when it’s very busy - quiet times only.

She’s never been made to feel unwelcome and usually people just want to fuss her (not all - she seems to swerve the haters). Kids are usually polite and ask if they can stroke her. She gets the tippy taps (like an excitable jumping up and down) when she knows we’re off to the range or the garden centre. If she seemed unhappy I wouldn’t take her. And she still gets three walks a day - two of which are over an hour and a half each so get plenty of the usual exercise.

She’s well behaved so if somewhere is dog friendly we will go for a mooch and see how she responds when she’s there. She’s never toileted in any shops cafes pubs or restaurants either.

From experience, more parents think everyone should love their kids, than dog owners think everyone should love their dogs.

I know. My own (weird) cousin is like that. Incredibly sad. And she wonders why she's lost contact with most of her family members...

It sounds like you have alienated her because she has a dog instead of a kid.

Many parents are like that about their kids too, yes. Fully agree. That's annoying too. But I'm not sure how that's relevant. My point was about dogs... which is the subject of this thread 🙄

intrepidpanda · 19/04/2025 22:21

I was brought up to be a strong independent woman.
This seems to be a thing of the past
Women today ether need a child or dog. They need to be needed.

Nope. She has alienated herself because she insists on bringing her horrible yappy little dog everywhere, even when we've told her we don't want it out with us or in our house. She had a choice.

Roseyposey11 · 19/04/2025 22:22

RealityContinuesToRuinMyLife · 19/04/2025 18:14

Agree.
We’ve been dog owners for years and never felt the need to take our dogs everywhere with us.
Ive seen people drive their dogs to the retail park just so they can take them in to Pets at home, and then the idiot owners stand there whilst the poor NMW workers clean up their dog shit.

The last time I read a thread on this topic, a dog had crapped in the cafe where a pp had ordered lunch. Disgusting.

Just leave your fucking dogs at home or sit at an outside table!

I refuse to eat at places that have dogs inside now, I don’t want some pooch chasing it’s puppuccino cup around my feet on it’s stupid extendable lead whilst it tries to lick the last of the froth out, with it’s idiot owner giving me a simpering smile.

To be honest, dog or no dog, I wouldn’t want to sit next to somebody as grumpy and unpleasant as your post makes you sound

VintedVirginal · 19/04/2025 22:22

I don't mind dogs in cafes BUT please don't let your dog sit on a seat for humans.

Dogs don't wipe their bums and they aren't clean.
Nor are their paws. Just the same as a human putting their dirty shoes on a seat.
I don't want to sit on a chair where a dog's sat.

Okay, you may let your dog roam around your home, sit on your sofa or even on your bed.

That's in YOUR home, not a public place.

That’s exactly my point. Lots of posts saying - ‘dog pee’d against my leg when I was stood minding my own business in a queue at TK Max’, or ‘I was sat drinking a herbal tea in my local cafe and a large wet dog jumped on my lap and licked my face’. I could go on, but you get the gist………So people just tend to now scroll on by, as the fakery around it all gets a bit tedious.

Really? I think her post makes her sound like she has common sense. How odd you view common sense as 'being grumpy'

Oh piss off. I don't have dog because I want to be needed. I wanted a dog.

Topsyturvy78 · 19/04/2025 22:24

Agree there was a dog when we got on a bus a few weeks ago. We were on the top deck only the second stop of a nearly 2 hour route so had only got on the stop before us. A dog right at the front had pissed. Okay take them on the bus but at least make sure they've been to the toilet.

... are you saying people's experiences are 'fake'?

My baby boy was attacked in his pram by a dog in a playground at 6 months old while sitting in his pram and I had to wrestle the thing off him. Is that 'fakery' too...?
