Just this really

Ooo did I read from a pp that Costa are now allowing dogs? Excellent if so! I look forward to popping in with my gorgeous well-behaved dog.

Also excellent news is that Wetherspoons are dog free. All the people that hate dogs and love Wetherspoons in one place. Ideal all round.

Yes sat in Costa with our dog today lots of dogs in there- very well behaved. Unlike the kids bouncing his ball round the seating area

At least the inevitable demographic change will put paid to dogs being allowed in restaurants and other places.

What demographic change?

OonaStubbs · 19/04/2025 21:12

I am sick of dogs being everywhere. It is utter madness to allow dogs in restaurants, shopping malls and hospitals. They are filthy animals.

SunnySideDeepDown · 19/04/2025 21:10

Not as disgusting as a dog that licks his arse and eats poo. Unless you do that?!

If you don’t think sharing plates and cutlery with dogs is gross, then your standards are too low.

Erm, people with a sex life have had their mouths in places too. And my dog does not eat poo.

If a place cleans the plates properly then what is the problem?

You realise that humans lick other humans in quite intimate areas?

That’s highly unusual. I’ve lived across three counties in the last five years and almost all cafes and pubs are overrun with dogs. Our local library even lets them in which is awful.

Nah, none, ever. I never see them in 'eateries.'

I went to Cornwall for a few days last year.

Dogs everywhere!

Our B&B had 3 dogs in the breakfast room (3 dogs, 5 tables) and every time a dog came in they all started loudly snuffling and fussing around and sniffing each others arses while we tried to eat breakfast.

Won't be going to Cornwall again.

There are some accommodations in Cornwall that are not dog friendly. And some restaurants.

We go annually. With our dog. We choose the dog friendly places, strangely.

Humans are worse than dogs by a country mile (some humans.) Of course dogs are not filthy animals. What a daft post! 😂

(And I'm a cat person.)

RockaLock · 19/04/2025 21:16

I do find it bizarre when people take their dogs shopping. And I don’t mean to Pets at Home.

Last time I was in an Apple Store I counted 3 dogs in there, all looking thoroughly fed up.

And when I’m shopping for clothes, I don’t want some random dog sniffing around my legs, or to have to watch that I don’t trip over a leash. But it happens a lot now.

But I suppose that is my fault for not choosing dog-free shops - I probably should have guessed that a women’s clothes shop is actually a dog-friendly space. And I’m sure the dogs really enjoy it too Hmm

I remember when most, if not all, shops used to say “no dogs except guide dogs” and funnily enough all the dog owners seemed to cope, so I’m not sure why things have changed so much.

However some establishments indulge dopey and entitled fur parents or the fur parent is entitled and takes the dog into a cafe, restaurant. So the dogs snort, wheeze and fart in food establishments whilst other patrons have to put up with it. We unfortunately have not established a pattern of resistance against digs in retail and restaurants . Hopefully habitually declining dogs will gain traction and the entitled dog owners will tie the dog up outside

No reasonable dog owner would “tie the dog up outside” for reasons that you quite clearly do not and will never understand. But my point remains. I live in a hugely dog friendly area, it’s marvellous! But, there are still many, many establishments which don’t allow dogs. Good for them, that is absolutely their choice and provides lovely places for people to go who don’t like or are allergic to dogs. And you can choose to go there! I often do when my dogs aren’t with me. But there is this marvellous thing called Google that in about 30 seconds will tell you if dogs are allowed or not…..

No.establishment I frequent doesn’t have scabby dogs or their daft owners
No arses or plates getting licked where I dine
Maybe in Sarf London, their feral over the river

BatchCookBabe · 19/04/2025 21:19

Most shops and stores (and eateries) don't allow dogs in. (Apart from assistance dogs obvs.)

I find it really hard to believe that some people are seeing multiple dogs in most shops and eateries they go in! Where on earth do these people live? Confused

If you already go to places that don't allow dogs then what is the problem? Just keep going to them, and leave us "daft" owners to go to places that welcome our "scabby" dogs.

North London . Home of doggy day care, pampered pooch and fur parents

Just humans that probably had each others genitals in their mouths 10 minutes before arriving for their date night at your oh so clean establishment.

🎻

Off to the dog free ‘spoons with you 🤷🏽‍♀️

Tickles me the amount of people claiming things like dogs doing their business next to them in cafes & pubs 🤣 this simply does not happen as much as the anti animal crowd claim 🙄

I happily take my dog into dog friendly & dog welcome places because she’s a good girl and quite honestly, if you live in the UK, at least half of the year the majority of patrons ARE dog owners because it’s so damn wet and no one else is out 😂 keep Britain in business for the fair weather folk, we do 🙌🏽

MN land. Same place where their toddler gets bowled over by a rampant dog every time they set foot outside their front door.

I bet that's not true. Particularly as you (like @OonaStubbs ) clearly loathe dogs.

We have at least one cat cafe in Brighton.

I definitely think the Cat Cafes should ban dogs though 😂

I've not visited a Cat Cafe yet, I keep meaning to.

And dogs should definitely be banned from Cat Cafes imagine the furore if dogs went in there😂
