I think many of them enjoy that element of intimidation of women.

EasternStandard · 21/04/2025 18:36

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 21/04/2025 18:34

Exactly this.

Let's show these bigoted women how wrong they are not to want us in their toilets, changing rooms and refuges...by threatening to kill them.

Let's show them that we are real women who belong in their rape crisis groups...by threatening to rape them.

@JHoundcan you see why women are asking for single sex spaces when men react with threats of violence and actual violence?

DrPrunesqualer · 21/04/2025 18:27

Wow
She is literally looking for people at the Womens Meet up to attack. She’s walking around looking for victims and picks a baby calling it a fascist!

This is an aide to a Labour MP ! ( not the baby of course although baby would almost certainly do a better job than bullies like Carly )

Edited

Did she get sacked?

I asked the same ages ago but haven’t heard back yet.
Statues still more important

I am all astonishment at their lack of answer and/or condemnation.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/04/2025 18:32

The wife/mum came on MN after to talk about it ISTR.

She did indeed. I hope they are all doing great.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/04/2025 18:42

I quote, following the 2017 Speakers Corner assault of GC feminist Maria McLachlan/Skepticat:

"Imagine 20 people had punched TERFs. Imagine if every TERF left bruised and bleeding. They would stop organising".

this was a TRA tweet, by a reasonably prominent TRA at the time.

This and many more on this thread, where we translated the slur “TERF” to what it actually means: “women who say things I don’t like”: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/3242186-Fun-new-game-TERF-translator

Here's how to play. Find examples of people using the word 'TERF' and replace them with the true meaning of the word, which is of course: 'women who s...

Did she get sacked?

No, she was forced to apologise. Though it was one of those 'I did it to protect my trans friends' so bit pointless. Dunno what she thought the baby was going to do - crawl towards them threateningly?

And she was at that point (still is ifaik) the aide to a Labour MP who displayed such intimidating behaviour to Miriam Cates in the House of Commons after a heated debate that other MP's had to sit next to Miriam so that she had some support.

Catiette · 21/04/2025 19:08

Diverze · 21/04/2025 14:31

I am sorry -

I guess for a moment I was frustrated that I was trying in good faith to say, in response to a general invitation to explain what the protest is about if anyone could, "look, if you really do want to know why transpeople are upset, it's because in many cases they have a different belief system which leads them down a different thought process in this way" - not that I think in that way but that I am trying to explain that thought process - and within 2 minutes the very first response was "well I don't care, they have no right to barge in on women's spaces" (to paraphrase), which has been covered over and over in this thread, wasn't relevant to the point I was making, wasn't what I was arguing for at all. I wasn't saying "trans people think this and therefore they should have these rights to go in single sex spaces etc, their feelings should be more important than women", and it just felt like my intention was being misunderstood, again.

I personally am naturally GC and completely understand the viewpoint of women in needing and wanting privacy and dignity and the ability to define ourselves by our sex class.

I understand! I’ve a lot to catch up on on this thread, I think - I usually try to read everything before posting, but, wow, is there a lot to read right now!

I am all astonishment at their lack of answer and/or condemnation.

  1. Strangely enough like many women I have children to look after and feed and a life that sometimes takes me away from Mumsnet
  2. I actually don't owe you an answer here. I don't feel comfortable acting as a spy on the FB page going through posts and answering specific questions from here.

I have told you that there is consternation about the behaviour of certain people at the demo, a feeling that it gives everyone a bad name, and there are proposals to try to clean up. That is all I am going to say and if it's not enough detail or specificity for you, then oh well.

DrPrunesqualer · 21/04/2025 19:55

Sad.
Id have thought nooses and knives for terfs and inciting violence would be more important
…….not surprised though.

We’ll wait and see if anyone at the demo shops all those law breakers

ItWasTheRightThing · 21/04/2025 20:39

BabyOrca · 21/04/2025 12:12

At the root of the issue for me is how do you believe/feel you are a woman "in your heart and brain" without experiencing ALL of the following as a possible reality for you: the fear of rape, the fear of being easily overpowered by violent men, the fear of pregnancy, abortion, periods, PMS, gynaecological phenomena, breasts (including your relationship to them, fear of breast cancer, breast cancer, mastectomy or the the idea of it), social pressure in terms of aesthetics (regarding curves, body hair removal, surgical enhancements, cosmetics), undermining in the family, school and workplace as a direct result of being female, lack of employment opportunities and equal pay, motherhood (physical changes, labour, breastfeeding, childbirth) but also non-motherhood (dealing with complicated feelings or social challenging around this), the mental load, the menopause, social conditioning towards kindness, self-censorship out of fear of physical reprisal.
Have I missed anything?

For me, all the above is what it means to be a woman as opposed to a man.

And I genuinely cannot understand how it would be possible to feel like a woman without having EVER been shaped by these factors.

Absolutely this!

sorry, complete lurker here 😊

I don’t agree that trans women are women, I just don’t think it’s possible for them to know what it feels like to actually be a woman. But (strangely I think) we as women aren’t allowed to say that IRL are we?

To that shouty man in Scotland, I want to shout back ‘give them periods! Give them menopause!’
They can fcking have those if they want to feel what being a woman is really like.

EasternStandard · 21/04/2025 18:36

@JHoundcan you see why women are asking for single sex spaces when men react with threats of violence and actual violence?

When have I ever said I don’t see why women want single sex spaces?

Nameychangington · 21/04/2025 20:51

Yeah none of that stuff is what they think being a woman is. Certainly not the AGPs. It's Andrea Long Chu defining being female as "an open mouth, an expectant asshole, blank, blank eyes”. Or Heather Herbert talking about 'taking off my knickers and spreading my legs' to dilate his surgical creation in a Gatwick disabled toilet (and taking pics). You probably don't want to know what they think about what being a woman is.

IthasYes · 21/04/2025 20:51

@ItWasTheRightThing I'd feel uncomfortable saying that because it's so fetishised, they'd enjoy that

Urgh, I’m underestimating these people aren’t I?

IthasYes · 21/04/2025 20:56

@Nameychangington that Herbert man if it wasn't so revolting is hysterical.

But the use of a disabled loo ,well, shows how breathtakingly selfish the man is how dare he. And he would have preferred to do that in the ladies loo?

There are never ever enough females loos as it is clubs, pubs theatres, even museum and art galleries don't have enough female loos and they want to add to the burden?

I was in a loo last week and a mum was changing her baby and then had to navigate no larger baby change loo and have to the door propped open so she could watch her child!!
I remember having to do that as no where to put baby!!

The whole invasion is a disgrace.

For so many, I believe the majority, it’s a sexual kink nothing more complex than that

I don’t know why this isn’t acknowledged

Because it was sold as the next big cause in human rights and plenty of people were naive enough to buy that. Now they don't want to admit they got it so wrong
