Man in the park calling a baby sexy - aibu to consider reporting?

Just that really. A man in the playground kept singing SEXY at a baby (like that liberty X song tune) and also saying “are you a sexy girl? Are you going to be a sexy girl! SEXY!” Think she was his granddaughter. Her dad was also there.

Didn’t say anything as I was on my own, but there were other parents there too. He was doing it repeatedly. Left the park feeling nauseated and just wondering if it was some yucky family in-joke but well what if he’s abusing that baby or other children? Don’t know his name but know they are local and the baby’s name. Baby was between a year and 18 months I would say.

It was so ODD. I don’t know if it’s reportable or how that would work so please do advise. I have never come across something like this in my life!

A relative of mine once said about my new cat, 'Oooh, you are a SEXY thing, you SEXY cat.' What???? I thought, but before shouting for the RSPCA, I realised it just meant 'cute'. Even more disconcerting to hear the word applied to a baby, but I should think it was completely harmless.

It's a bit weird.

I had a male relative (died when I was about 4) who used that language about me and my sister (two years older than me). He used to tickle us between our legs over our clothes. My sister was glad when he died said she found him creepy.

it gives me the ick when men talk like that to kids. Maybe it's not a crime but it's weird as fuck. Perhaps I'm a prude or overreacting though ?

I’ve seen people make comments about babies being sexy on facebook. Like look at my sexy grandson etc. it’s very strange indeed.

I think it’s actually brilliant that you’re asking the questions and talking about it. Coming from a house as a child where one parent was a paedophile I wish more people had asked questions / noticed things and acted on them.
