Supreme Court rules the term sex refers to 'biological women'

Finally.

There is no “triumph” for me.

i am delighted though.
I feel relief that this reasonable request for clarity has been heard.

The judge also said “the law still gives trans people protection against discrimination.”

As it should do. No one ever argued otherwise.

Tell them what. That they were raped. They don’t need me to tell them that.

They need the police to tell them that - and the police told them it couldn’t have happened because no men were around

Is this OK?

The hospital told the police that the patient had definitely not been raped as there were no men on that ward when they knew there was one.

Common sense has prevailed at last.

If you were raped then you were raped. The majority of trans women just want to peacefully and lawfully live their life.

Do they just want to pee? Are they just vulnerable gendered souls? You really have swallowed the kool-aid haven’t you?

ArabellaScott · 16/04/2025 20:33

JandamiHash · 16/04/2025 20:31

So do you just plain old hate women then?

Men and women having any kind of sex with each other is not lesbian sex though, is it?

My comment referring to each other was not singular to one sex , and last I checked in the UK lesbian, sex is not illegal.

The comment was absurd!

The individuals that said this should be prosecuted for frustrating a police inquiry.

agingforgold · 16/04/2025 20:34

Absolutely brilliant.
a woman is a woman with female sexual organs.
a trans woman is a man with male sexual organs who wants to be feminine, he can’t be a woman, ever.
Thank god!

andtheworldrollson · 16/04/2025 20:31

I think most women are happy if transwomen are able to live their own lives - but for some living their lives actually translates as harming women and making it impossible for women to live their own lives.

everyone needs to be able to get along. No one deserves to be written out of society. This ruling says that women can not be written out. Women exist, they are not transwomen and sometimes that matters

I’m honestly fine calling someone who used to be Fred, Frieda if that’s what he wants. Freida wants to wear skirts and make up? Brilliant! Gender stereotypes are regressive and harmful and the more people reject them the better! Go Freida!

But I draw the line at being expected to buy into delusion that Frieda has changed sex and I most certainly draw the line at Frieda thinking this these makes him a woman, and that I’m to treat him like such and give up spaces I wouldn’t have ever been expected to give up to “Fred”. It’s not hateful to trans people to want to have sex based services and protections.

WhatterySquash · 16/04/2025 20:36

The majority of trans women just want to peacefully and lawfully live their life.

Good, then as the law has just been clarified, it will be easier for them to do that, and I 100% respect and appreciate any TW who respects my legal rights and my "lived experience" and understands that I'm actually female and they're not.

The TW (of whom there are quite a lot) who want to harass, ogle, flash, rape, intimidate, masturbate, steal medals etc in women's spaces can now more easily be kept out, as can those men who are just using gender ideology to pretend to be trans to access women or indulge fetishes.

The majority of trans women who just want to peacefully and lawfully live their life should be happy about that, I would have thought, as they wouldn't want to be associated with criminals and fake chancers.

I have a lovely Chateau Neuf Du Pap I’ve cracked open tonight in celebration. Can we all raise a glass to today - it’s the start of what well fought so hard for 🍷

It does matter but as I said, most trans women just want to peacefully and lawfully live their lives. They don’t generally go around raping other women. I agree with the judgement but it is being used to fuel transphobia.

So sad to see the transphobia on MN and this thread
this isn’t a win for feminism
it’s a win for white supremacy

😂😂 you have to attempt to force team trans nonsense with other rights because trans cannot stand on its own merits. Denied.

Whose fault is that?

Another2Cats · 16/04/2025 20:42

StopGo · 16/04/2025 10:38

So a man has sat in judgement of who I am?

Well, if you had bothered to read the judgment you would have read this at the very top:

LORD HODGE, LADY ROSE AND LADY SIMLER (with whom Lord Reed and Lord Lloyd-Jones agree)

What this means is that the judgment was written by a man and two women (all three of whom appear to know what sex they are). The other two Lords agreed with their judgment.

They’re charming aren’t they? All the compassion in the world for men with a fetish, but for vulnerable women who have to deal with the fallout from the things they promote and endorse, not so much.

TW are part of the class of men.

Men commit worryingly high levels of violent crimes. We don’t just shrug as say “meh, but most don’t” - we protect and support women. Why should this be different from a small part of their class who calls themselves a different name?

fourbedwinner · 16/04/2025 20:46

I'm genuinely trying to explore my own thought process here, but doesn't this ruling suggest that transwomen are not actually women, although the term woman is in itself a social construct. To me, a transwoman is a woman, but not a female. Does the inclusion of transwomen in women's rights discussions impact negatively on cis women? I'm unsure they do, but willing to consider others opinions on this.

They can't be more specific.

They can never be more specific, because that would expose the fact that 'transphobia' is defined to them as 'Women getting uppity and not being forced to comply believing I'm just as much of a woman as they are'.
