Put up wind chimes to annoy noisy neighbours

I have recently put up 2 large wind chimes to annoy my neighbours. I’ve had enough work long night shifts & the neighbours who’s house mine is attached too make constant noise have a loud dog that barks throughout the day & every morning at 7 30 am I’ve tried being nice explained I work nights and although they apologised nothings changed it’s horrible I go to work exhausted then can’t sleep when I come home what sealed the decision to buy them & put them up was when my daughter was singing in her room the other day at 6pm then they had a had the audacity to shout shut up & bang on the walls.. Still I am not a bad person so keep umming & awing about taking them down but I don’t think I will I want to bring them some of the stress they have bought me.

It sounds as if the insulation isn't good enough if singing and barking are so loud. Is adding more noise really going to help? It's a miserable situation for you, needing to sleep during the day.

I don't blame you. Inconsiderate noisy neighbours are the worst.

If they're loud enough that the neighbours can hear them, won't they annoy you as well?

I don't blame you, but I also question if adding more noise is actually going to be helpful for you. You'll have to hear them too which might get annoying when you're trying to sleep.

I don't have dogs or anything and I don't like the sound of barking dogs any more than anyone else does I imagine, but...can they realistically stop it barking? Are they taking it out for exercise enough etc or just leaving it on its own?

Won’t they just annoy you as well so you have dog barking and wind chimes to sleep through?

Can you try white noise (presuming you have already tried ear plugs etc)

Hi yeh I have ear plugs since they moved in I have never been able to go to bed without them but unfortunately their dog is so loud I can hear it over the ear plugs & it wakes me up. They walk it but the dog barks when anyone leaves their house or goes past. Wind chimes are at the back of my house so not disturbing to me or the neighbour I like as our bedrooms are at the front where as noisy neighbours are at the back where I put the wind chimes hehe

Unless your wind chimes are outside, I doubt your neighbours will hear them.
I have several, but they only chime if the patio door is open and it's windy.

I love the sound of wind chimes. One of my neighbours has some and I find it really relaxing listening to them, especially when very windy.

Me too, I'd love this and find them really relaxing. You need to subtly find a way to determine if they like windchimes or not first!

I bought some fairly large wooden wind chimes home from holiday (not to annoy anyone). Shortly afterwards we another named storm. They got blown into the Hawthorn from which they were hanging. Completely fangled had to be cut out. I've got some wooden tubes 🤣

Are you sure they're not going to wind the dog up more? There were never any dogs in our neighbourhood, then some eejit decided to get 2 German Shepherds (we live in terraced rabbit hutch size houses)

Are both you and daughter at front of house? You don't want to be adding to her disturbance.

Personally I like a bit of ACDC at random hours.

My nuisance neighbours put wind chimes up to add to their general antisocial behaviour and love of winding people up (I had the window open when she put them up, and I heard her say “this will piss them off” and laughed loudly), it backfired on them though because I like the sounds of wind chimes and it turned out they actually didn’t. 😂

Yes they are outside as close to their bedroom window as possible

Gotta love a bit of AC/DC & yes we’re all at the front of the house so far it has not set their dog off any more I have seen they have closed their bedroom window tonight though hehe !

Might not work, I like a wind chime! (Don’t have any as don’t want to annoy neighbours but obviously lots of people like them - every so often you see that random weird house in a neighbourhood that has about 10 sets outside!)

The space between houses / garden is big enough that it shouldn’t annoy the others there’s is the only one I’m attached too I will probably end up taking them down where I will eventually feel bad I’m generally not a petty person

It’s like a little band outside of their bedroom window I see they closed their window tonight so I guess they are not enjoying the sound as much

Not asking anyone to feel sorry for me think you need a chill pill & yes I am quite delightful which is more than can be said for your aggressive foul comment :) you try being woken up over the past year on a daily basis by a barking dog or people shouting & banging doors not that I care what you think but im sure you would be fed up of it too ..
