Disgusting, poor prison officers.

What to do with scum like this?

As if it wasn't bad enough about the bombing he planned, he now wants to attack staff?
Do we need him?

Hashem Abedi, Manchester Arena bomber's brother, attacks prison officers

Three officers have been treated in hospital, the Prison Service said, adding police were investigating.

Do you think these things don't happen all the time? That prisoners attack dont staff and each other? This is just more fucking dog-whistle racist crap.

These things don't happen all the time though do they? Especially not to staff. I can imagine he'll get a kicking back on the wing by anyone who liked the officers

Mylittlebobble · 13/04/2025 10:02

Just to clarify, my family member said that they could have been paid a lot more money if they relocated to Ireland but they didn't want to take the chance with the added security implications. I think my point it, these risks aren't new.

twinkletoesimnot · 13/04/2025 10:07

He shouldn’t be allowed human contact. He is inhuman.
one room with an automatic door to an outside area that is opened for an hour a day for exercise. Food and drink popped through a hatch.
This should be his maximum privilege.
Hate to say it, but I do think in cases like this. No doubt of his guilt, no remorse, no hope - why is he being kept alive?

I understand how they create the weapons.

I don't understand the access to hot oil. Was he working in a kitchen. Was it in a kettle?

They must have some kind of cooking facilities on the unit. You know, to make things nicer for them whilst in jail. This will most certainly be taken away now from them. Good. They don't deserve to have this facility do they? And now will have to suffer jail food.

It's an extene example of the anti western sentiment bulding in the country tbh

The amount of pain and suffering from a decision made a while back. Perhaps we should look at why we got it wrong.

MethusalahsMum · 13/04/2025 10:10

I accept that many would like a referendum about reinstating the death penalty for the most heinous of crimes (not so much for everyday murder maybe) I am averse to this as it is a golden opportunity for the politically cultists to become eternal martyrs & pin-ups for coming generations.

I don't know much about the revised jail system in El Salvador but understand that it seeks to purge civilian society of the heavily entrenched frug cartels and gang culture that has deeply destabilised that nation. The images of the many prisoners stripped to barest essentials is striking. What is significantly different is how the highly trained & heavily protected/anonymised guards interact - or rather don't - in the most minimal way with harsh penalties for disobedience.

I doubt that such a prison regime is possible here in the UK for many reasons, e.g. money, time, political will & overall culture, as we are not in the desperate & now improving state of El Salvador.

However I do wonder if El Salvador prison service would accept 'paying guests' courtesy of HMGovt?

Their family were a direct part of the radicalisation of the brothers. Their father Ramadan was taking the boys out of school at a young age to go and fight with him in Libya's civil war... these boys didn't stand a chance. There are pictures of Hashem at what can't be more than 10, posing in Libya with a rocket propelled grenade over his shoulder. From the youngest age they were being deliberately indoctrinated by their own family into violent jihadist ideology and being trained in and desensitised to violence.

We need to bw able to instantly deport people like this. Or better still, find a way to identify and not let them in in the first place.

Its horrendous that we allow people like this to spread their warped viewpoint in the UK. I work with someone who was married and pregnant at 14, brought over from Pakistan to marry an older man. The man had grown up in the UK! These extemists should face the full force of the law, not be allowed to operate and spread their disgusting message. It shouldn't be possible to grow up in the UK and think child marriage is ok.

It's insane we allow people to claim asylum then return to the country they've fled as an active fighter, then come back. I know they'd likely have settled status by then but it's just such a flag of risk it beggars belief they weren't under more surveillance.

As a person of colour this shit really really fucks me off. Why shouldn't it be reported. The prison officers were burnt and stabbed. Should it not be reported because the evil cunt is a Muslim or because he isn't white? People like you saying shit like that causes racism

Fully agree with you. I’m white, but an immigrant, and if my fellow countrymen were going around plotting terror attacks and attacking prison guards, the last thing I would worry about would be whether reporting on this could be perceived as “racist dog whistle”.

And how is the future for the prison guards. He should be put into solitary and have no further privileges
He deserves nothing
His hatred has caused this suffering and now he deserves absolutely no humanity
He showed none

I am not disagreeing with you, the point was his future is pretty grim and it was quite right to set an example of 55 years sentence.

Having spent 30yrs as a female prison officer in male Prisons, it is likely sugar and boiling water was used.
Cutlery is plastic, but can be melted down by using a cigarette lighter, and melting the handle to a point.
Prisoners are allowed a razor blade, and the blade can also be melted into the handle of cutlery.
The kettle is an issue. In a similar setting tea in a big urn was accessible at certain times during the day, and prisoners would be allowed to get a cup of tea one at a time, supervised by 3 staff. That might sound old fashioned, but it saves staff being covered in boiling sugar and water.

Someone up thread mentioned that staff years ago were recruited from the military, who had life experience.. but now there is no common sense, no people skills, and an increasing number of female staff are becoming intimately involved with prisoners.
I enjoyed my job, and worked with some amazing staff, but I certainly wouldn't want to be doing that job today. Minimum staffing levels, a lack of common sense recruiting, and running a prison on a shoestring budget is just a recipe for disaster.

He’s in one of the new separation centres at Frankland. Easy to check the blade is still in on a unit like that, I think they simply sit sharpening the knives all day. It’s known that the cons on that unit refuse to engage with staff, why they have oil in the kitchen is beyond me but apparently so. What’s wrong with frylight ffs.

Cost a fortune to put these centres in but no stab proof vests for staff. Complete joke, I couldn’t do it anymore either. So sad at what has become of the service but it was inevitable. The last government and VEDS killed any chance that we had left

@JudgeMenthol
I don’t understand why prisoners are allowed lighters … smoking is classed as a non essential / luxury item … not to mention setting fires to bedding / people etc…
our prison system does not help itself

You're right - The Prison Service not helping itself again.
Some Prisons now are smoke free, perhaps that should be the case for all, although I'm sure someone would challenge that as being against their human rights, and use Legal Aid to do so.

Going on what @CountryQueen has posted, making cooking facilities a available in areas where prisoners are separated for a reason seems to be pandering to prisoners.
I had previously requested additional staff for a specific duty, citing possible repercussions, to be told "we don't work on 'what ifs' "... staffing levels are woefully inadequate.

This. If they like Libya so much why can't we send them back permanently?

Jelliots · 13/04/2025 18:41

This twat just needs putting down. We wouldn’t tolerate it from a dog and this cunt is a much lesser life form

abracadabra1980 · 13/04/2025 18:44

I'm with @AbsolutelyZero
This 'thing' contributes nothing to humanity apart from horror. I'd happily give him a lethal injection

Why was he around hot oil? Surely that's a massive potential risk to harm others - staff or other prisoners.

How he did he manage to create those weapons and use them?

Human rights.

Cooking facilities! He's a sick bastard.

How can it be we make hospitals smoke free and offer nicotine replacements...why can't they just be offered that?!

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 13/04/2025 19:05

Don't segregate terrorists, paedophiles, etc.
Put them in with other prisoners & let rough justice take its course.

What a horrible post.

The guy is evil. He helped plot a bike terrorist attack, he then attacked prison officers in 2022 and now attacked 3 more in a most vile way.

You come along and shout racism. He's just evil.

Icanhearabee · 13/04/2025 19:14

Someone who murders as many innocents as this vile specimen did ought to be kept in solitary confinement for the rest of its miserable life.

Icanhearabee · 13/04/2025 19:19

Teanbiscuits33 · 13/04/2025 00:32

I think the point that that poster is trying to make is that prisoners of all races and backgrounds attack staff and each other every single day, yet this particular incident has made mainstream news because of who he is and the implications of that. Correct me if I’m wrong but this seemed an obvious take to me.

Maybe it’s because he is a high profile prisoner due to the number of children he murdered. If it was someone who committed a low level crime then it probably wouldn’t have even made the news.

PonyPatter44 · 13/04/2025 19:23

Prisoners are not allowed lighters. All prisons in England have been smoke-free since 2016. Prisoners can and do vape (separate set of issues) but they cannot smoke. I've seen men sent back to closed conditions from open prisons for smoking and bringing in tobacco.

But this is a bit of a weird derail, because Hashem Abedi didn't blow smoke in officers' faces. The POA says he made knives out of a baking tray - if that's correct, how did noone notice a missing baking tray? We don't help ourselves sometimes.

SmoothEncounter · 13/04/2025 19:25

Mumnotbruh · 13/04/2025 07:24

I think it made the news as it’s his second attack, he seriously harmed 3 prison officers and he’s already high profile due to his brother attacking a venue filled with teenagers. You are making this about colour when it’s not.

Agree, it’s his profile as brother to the bomber and the extent of the attack that makes this news.

Motherofalittledragon · 13/04/2025 19:30

I’m all for hanging.
