To think people eat one heck of a lot!

See it all over, online, on here, in real life.
People have to have three pretty substantial meals per day or they think they'll starve or not get enough nutrients.
A good amount of people, men especially, think a cold meal or salad based meal is not a real meal, or anywhere near enough to pass as one.
If it isn't huge, or hot, people often think it isn't value for money.

It isn't uncommon to hear 'rabbit food' or such when people choose cold or salad based meals.

Myself, I love both, and eat a warm meal most evenings, so don't have much of a horse in the race, but I do think it's a thing.
Not sure how other cultures go about it, would be interesting to find out.

Is it a UK specific thing, to always need a large hot meal several times per day?
A typical example is:
Porridge and berries of full breakfast english style etc for breakfast.
Baked potato with tuna, or salad for lunch, or soup with whatever and copious amounts of pulses.
Then cottage pie or something equally large for dinner.
Then, often, a later meal, give or take.
And a lot of us are still hungry after this, or snack in between, so WTF is going on!?

Better than a moist meal.

Ive never associated meal with mealworm before…

What about a nice warm, moist meal
I look forward to 3 of these a day at least

I should be enormous then as you’ve pretty much described my exact diet. Nope, not enormous. An average size 10 here 🤷‍♀️ Maybe you’re the one under-eating?

‘Cottage pie or something equally ‘large?’
Surely a cottage pie can be whatever size you choose?
Very judgmental imo.

Plus cottage pie could include and be served with plenty of vegetables. When I make it I put onions, carrots, mushrooms and peas in the base and serve it with something like cabbage and broccoli. To me it would seem like the MN holy grail of a 'protein and veg' meal.

Yet the fact that it is hot means that it is a big greedy unnecessary meal and one would be better just having a sandwich instead, because sliced white bread and processed ham is so much more nutritious and less calorific.

I’m sure several people have asked you this already but WTF are you on about?

@BunnyRuddington May your DSweetDPeas be bountiful. Lots of room on your windowsill for your "trombone" squash. I am about to put my pre-soaked seeds in pots. On reflection, soaking all 20 of them was a mistake.

20 may seem excessive. I don’t think so though I think you should share the plants amongst your family and friends do that they can all enjoy the tromboneness of the squashes.

Who am I to decide what is excessive or not though, we need the Guru that is the OP to tell us…Grin

fgswhywouldIdothat · 21/04/2025 21:33

@BunnyRuddington How about this for excessive? I planted the "trombone"* seeds TWO to a pot, and there were still some bloody left and so I threw them on the compost heap!!! I am praying for a Jack and the Beanstalk type transformation. If you don't hear from me again, you'll know...*
