AIBU to think it's lazy and slovenly?

It's all a slippery slope as far as I'm concerned. The societal norm has always been that it's not acceptable to wear nightclothes outside but if we accept that it is fine what's next?
Bath towels in public? Underwear for shopping?

I worry that 10 yrs from now i'll be standing behind somebody in nowt but a thong and slippers in the queue at Tesco's!

Yep - scumsville. Not hard to chuck some leggings or tracksuit bottoms on. Gives me the right ick!

Wouldn’t bother me, at least they turned up for work.

’At least they’ve turned up for work’ is such a low standard.
I’ve had different jobs in the past, retail, catering, office. In none of them would have shlepping myself in wearing pyjamas been regarded as “good effort”.

Yes, but plenty of people wear pjs that pass as loungewear so you wouldn't necessarily know who got washed and dressed and who didn't.

Elderly people often struggle with dressing.

Mums with young kids often don't have time. My friends and i all confess we occasionally do school run and shopping in clothes we slept in (normally leggings and tunic) with a cardi chucked over. Then shower later when kids nap.

Wearing obvious pjs, gown and slippers is a bit odd. Although not so different from joggers and hoodie, depends what you sleep in

Exactly. Plus, everywhere I've worked has had a dress code.

I hate answering the door in my pyjamas. Can't imagine going to the shop in them

Why is there a door in your pyjamas?

Sorry. 😳

😂😂
Reminds me of the Groucho Marx joke: "I once shot an elephant in my pyjamas, how he got into them I'll never know" 😂

I love my jammies but no way would I go outside in them apart from when I had to walk the dog at 4am because he had diarrhoea. People going shopping in them makes me feel ill. They won't be wearing underwear and will smell of stale sleep.
