To think Lucy Connolly has been made an example of?

Have any of you read this article about Lucy Connolly who tweeted inflammatory comments following the Southport murders? I have to admit that at the time I was fully supportive of having her locked up, with the key thrown away. But reading this article made me view it all a little differently. Surely she has done her time?

Trauma doesn't make her do that. If she can control her racism in public then it was a choice.

Trauma doesn't make you do that! It is an excuse. Oh I've suffered trauma BTW! My behaviour is my choice. If it can be controlled around all other people then it is a choice. She chose it.

you’ve suffered trauma from your child dying?

Nope but I have suffered trauma and not once have I ever shouted racist things.

Nor has anyone I know who has had trauma from babies dying.

Odd that she can now control it when someone says she has to and that she controlled it beforehand. Amazing that eh? She chose her behaviour. She was in full control the whole time.

She is one sick person who says they will use their sick child as an excuse to get them off the hook. That to me is abhorrent.

'Nope but I have suffered trauma and not once have I ever shouted racist things.'

Everyone says things they regret in the heat of the moment. Saying is not doing and there is no evidence that her tweet encouraged anyone to do anything. Our judicial system is an absolute joke.

Then you haven’t suffered the Same trauma as her, you clearly have different circumstances so you don’t get to say how the death of her child affected her.
people react in different ways and the death of a child is the the most incomparable suffering a person could go through.

The article is written by Allison Pearson so you fill in the blanks on what it will say.

Does anyone actually pay to read the Telegraph, I wonder.

I went to buy a paper today and it was missing the Weekend section. They kindly offered me a spare Telegraph weekend section which I (horrified!) politely declined. And said it wouldn’t be good for my blood pressure.

She downplayed her own trauma when she messaged friends saying she plans to “play the mental health card”.

are you seriously comparing incels to a woman who’s child died. How on earth can you compare the two? Not getting laid is a bit fucking different to your child dying.

Devastating for her that her child died. You’d think she’d have more compassion than to call for other people’s children to be set alight and murdered in their bedrooms as a response wouldn’t you?

The death of a child in a hospital does not make someone encourage others to murder a certain group. That was her choice of words that did that.

So why is she encouraging others to kill children? Her words put children at risk of death. If she was that bothered by it why did she encourage others to kill children?

She was in full control of her words - trauma or not. And given she was in that much control she had the choice to say that she would use her baby's death as an excuse to get her off the hook, says it all really.

Her words were a choice behaviour. If she cannot control her words she needs a tourettes diagnosis.

Completely this! She supported the murder of other children because of their ethnicity.

Gloriia · 12/04/2025 19:34

I've just seen footage of a pro Hamas man in Surrey walking behind Jews making gun signs with his hands indicating he wanted to shoot them. The police didn't even arrest him let alone charge him for inciting violence but arrest a woman for a tweet.

I repeat our 2 tier judicial system is a joke.

I doubt it even crossed her mind that there might be women and children staying at these hotels - one tends to think of single men.

Indeed. I've never seen any women or children yet. Not that single men deserve to have their accommodation set on fire, obviously.

But according to you he hasn't done anything. Gestures and words can't be crimes. It seems as though you are in fact in favour of a two tier justice system.

Walking behind people making a firing a gun gesture is far more 'inciting violence' than a nasty tweet.

Single men are also someone’s children? Unless we’ve got lots of immaculately conceived asylum seekers in these hotels?

And if there were under 18s in the hotels? And they’d died when someone set them on fire? Would “oh it didn’t cross my mind they’d be in there” be much comfort to their parents?

And if people had died, would we have excised their parents actions due to trauma? I highly doubt it.

And that makes it ok? It is fine for men to die? Those men are still someone's children.

Category 1
Starting point
3 years’ custody

Category range
2 – 6 years’ custody

The sentencing judge can also adjust downwards due to mitigating factors.

  1. I highly doubt you’ve seen anyone protesting as pro Hamas. I presume you mean pro Palestinian
  2. Last week there was footage of a pro Israeli supporter, Dorin Weinberger, making throat slitting gestures at pro Palestinian . She’s faced no action so far.
What are you suggesting the two tiers are?
