To think Lucy Connolly has been made an example of?

Have any of you read this article about Lucy Connolly who tweeted inflammatory comments following the Southport murders? I have to admit that at the time I was fully supportive of having her locked up, with the key thrown away. But reading this article made me view it all a little differently. Surely she has done her time?

Why? What is the relevance of if I've visited any of the hotels housing asylum seekers?

You said you’d not seen any women and children in them. So I wondered how many you’d visited

whippy1981 · 12/04/2025 19:42

At no point did I say they did. She wanted those men dead - someone's children dead.

Please quote where she said she wanted someone’s child dead?

whippy1981 · 12/04/2025 19:42

She supported the burning of the buildings and wanted them burning with them inside.

She made a nasty comment. Some perspective is needed.

Don't you think the pro hamas man in Surrey making firing a gun gesture at Jews should've been arrested charged and sent ro prison for 31months, because I bet he is far more of a risk.

Clavinova · 12/04/2025 19:45

whippy1981 · 12/04/2025 19:40

And that makes it ok? It is fine for men to die? Those men are still someone's children.

She wasn't charged or convicted of soliciting murder - unlike three of the four men in the Danish Embassy protest linked up thread.

Maitri108 · 12/04/2025 19:47

Gloriia · 12/04/2025 19:38

Walking behind people making a firing a gun gesture is far more 'inciting violence' than a nasty tweet.

Making gun signals with your fingers is more dangerous than encouraging murder during a riot? He didn't even use words, so you're making even less sense. People should be locked up for hand gestures?

I think it can be reasonably inferred that if you set fire to an occupied building, the occupants are lilely to die

You can’t have it both ways.

And publicly supporting a proscribed terror group is a crime, so if he was genuinely
doing that, I have full confidence he would have been arrested.

Incidentally, I've just googled that case - at least three of the four men given custodial sentences had their sentences reduced on appeal.

All humans are the children of someone. She said she wanted the hotels burning with them inside.

When you burn a building with people inside, people die. Not sure if you know that.

All humans have parents. They are therefore children of others.

Some consistency is needed.

Devastating for her that her child died. You’d think she’d have more compassion than to call for other people’s children to be set alight and murdered in their bedrooms as a response wouldn’t you?

Not once did she call for anyone’s child to die? You won’t be able to quote her saying this as you are lying.

I think everyone who commits a crime should be arrested.

Why do you not support this? Do you think we should let some criminals off the hook because they cry a little? or because they have a vagina? or are white? or are middle class? Or are related to someone?

What is the criteria for 'off the hook' in your world?

Mumble12 · 12/04/2025 19:50

I agree. Someone making threatening hand signals should absolutely be arrested, as should Lucy Connolly.

Presumably the CPS disagree with you - otherwise she would have been charged with soliciting murder - as per the Danish Embassy protesters.

So please show me where she quoted that she wanted children to die? Please show me the bit where she mentioned children? She didn’t.

i doubt they disagree that setting fire to an occupied building will likely result in death.

but I’m sure stirring racial hatred was a perfectly reasonable charge to go with. She got the sentence she deserved, after admitting the offence

“The bastards” (or the occupants of the hotel) are someone’s children.

if a baying mob set fire to your house and you died, would your mum be ok with it as you’re over 18?

Clavinova · 12/04/2025 19:57

She called for people to be murdered during a racist riot

She clearly didn't, otherwise she would have been charged with soliciting murder - not to mention that she tweeted the evening before the riots started.

PonyPatter44 · 12/04/2025 19:57

If you don't want to be made an example of, maybe don't post nasty racist shit online at a time when racial tension is already sky-high.

So adults are children now?

She said set fire to the hotels full of the bastards including politicians and the government
she never once mentioned killing children so stop lying

Yeah, I’m someone’s child. Do you stop having parents at 18? No one told me!

edited to add: I’m not sure advocating for the burning of adults is any better than the burning of children. But you do know children live in the same hotels as adults right?

Adults are someone's children. I have a mother and a father. I am their child. Despite being an adult I am still their child. If I was burnt alive then it would still impact on my mum and dad in the same way as if I was a child. They would still lose their child.

Or do parents not get traumatised if their adult children are killed?
