There was Kewcumber who adopted from abroad as a single lady, there was a mum who always talked about her son Wilf, and there was a very direct, blunt and often right woman who I think wrote with no punctuation, who seemed to be on every thread and gave me lots of harsh truths! Going back a good decade now…

Anyone know what happened to them? Anyone else you wonder about?

Ahh I thought I recognised your posting style under other names!

Hope you’re doing well ☺️

Yeah i can't really hide . But I try 😅. Things are good thank you

EasternStandard · 03/04/2025 20:58

I’ve been here for ages and recall some of these names but prefer it now.

I just scrolled back and laughed at one post, that takes commitment. Blimey.

Mycatisanevilgenius · 03/04/2025 21:02

I wonder if cornsilk is doing OK, she was lovely, funny and kind

Mycatisanevilgenius · 03/04/2025 21:06

19 years ago it felt like you knew everyone on here, wonder how many posters there where then, that actually posted not just lurked as every night it felt like the same people

skintasabint · 03/04/2025 21:44

I have been on here since my children were very young, and my eldest is 24! On a couple of different profiles mind.

I remember Zombie, may she rest in peace. The Scottish lady? I forgot her name. A few more too.

I remember which poster you’re on about, the one lacking in punctuation. Didn’t she flounce once after giving everyone a mouthful? 😂

Delphigirl · 03/04/2025 22:04

I’ve been on here since 2003. Had 2 home births and posted through them, love looking back at those threads every so often. They are 21 and 18 now 😬

MN back then was just so FUNNY. Who was it whose MIL gave her yards and yards of knicker elastic as a Christmas present? I remember actually wetting myself laughing at that one.

Delphigirl · 03/04/2025 22:06

I loved Marina, Enid, COD, Rhubarb, Sunchowder (who lived in Florida I think), Janh, Countess Dracula… so many great women.

Mycatisanevilgenius · 03/04/2025 22:28

Cod had the most distinctive stylem someone one start a boasty thread, and she'd swing in with what a wanky thread
😂

The one that was all zeroes and ones.

@sandrapinchedmysandwich you ‘think’ you’re friends with me on Facebook? Well, you either are or you bloody aren’t woman! Reveal yourself.

Are your initials JL? Then I am 😃 If not, apologies. I have the wrong person 🤔

CarGirlStar · 03/04/2025 22:43

RedToothBrush · 03/04/2025 15:43

Hello.

Still here. But I think you have maybe got me confused with someone else.

Definitely not ever fleeing an abusive situation.

Oh well that’s embarrassing 😳

I am sure I read a thread where the woman was fleeing an abusive situation and one of the first things she did was buy a red toothbrush because she wasn’t allowed red or something and then I saw this username and I’ve clearly conflated the two!

I used to like Dawntigga’s little sign-offs.

Been here a long time under various names.
I remember the old times fondly but it was very cliquey back then.

The knicker elastic was WigWamBam I think? Her MIL was stark staring bonkers.

Really?? You remember too??

iwentjasonwaterfalls · 03/04/2025 23:06

I used to dread scottishmummy replying to me.

LaQueen posts were the best 🤣

Stripeyanddotty · 03/04/2025 23:06

@CarGirlStar
Yes.

SunnySideDeepDown · 03/04/2025 23:12

Do people actually care about random posters? Like any social media, most of it will be a bunch of lies, and even if what most of them say is true, I bet in real life they act completely differently.

I remember her too, you aren’t going mad. I wonder a lot what became of her, do hope she’s ok

The last I heard of BertrandRussell was when she was trying to get her daughter out of an abusive relationship.

Thank you for the update.
From the impression I have gained I of Bertrand Russell over the years I cannot think she will rest until her daughter is safe and the situation resolved. I am sorry she and her family are in this situation and hope things improve for them very soon

PermanentTemporary · 03/04/2025 23:28

@SunnySideDeepDown MN really was very different 15-20 years ago before it became the behemoth it is now. I met quite a few posters, either just through personal contact or at MN events. We had regular present swaps where you got something nice in the post from someone and sent them something yourself. There were a lot of live birth threads, hospital threads where people went to visit lonely posters or dropped off a few essentials. It's not completely changed; you still get the wedding witness callouts, and a board I'm on had two big meet ups last year and we're planning another.

lunchbreaknurse · 03/04/2025 23:34

I just read to page 6 and saw a few posts about Wilf…and then realised that I KNOW Wilf!

Wilf’s Mum must have been sharing some very identifying things at the time if I could pick up on that just from a few posts by other people. His Mum has clearly done a cracking job though as he is a very lovely man Smile
