There was Kewcumber who adopted from abroad as a single lady, there was a mum who always talked about her son Wilf, and there was a very direct, blunt and often right woman who I think wrote with no punctuation, who seemed to be on every thread and gave me lots of harsh truths! Going back a good decade now…

Anyone know what happened to them? Anyone else you wonder about?

I think they were two different people, and I agree about worra.

She was a friend of mine IRL and is sadly missed. Her DDs the 3 Twitter Princesses are doing well I'm happy to say.

Also this is a very odd thread.

Full of people making a point of putting in the boot to people they think were mean in some sort of weird revenge and managing to look equally mean in the process or weirdly going a little OTT, in how much they loved certain posters. As nice as some of them were (still are in many cases - AnyFucker is very much still around and this has been mentioned multiple times only for lots of people to MN 'kill her off' again).

Personally I find it exceptionally weird being mentioned (partly cos I'm still very much still here and haven't gone away). It feels a bit like reading your own online obituary, except there's been a weird social media mix up and you aren't actually dead yet.

Things change round these parts, they aren't any better or any worse. Just different. And thats a good thing.

MN was started in a different (and relatively new) world tech wise, it is now just different as the internet itself and society itself was diffirent. I would Never post how I used to, MN was like a small community which is why old timers remember users more. we also shared so much information that it seems mind blowing nowas the world, esp the internet has moved on. It’s evolution - MNers shared much more personal detail, meeting ups (still have a scar on my head from a spectacular bar stool fall! but also MNers joining to help with Trinity’s house, Mile for Maude, staying awake with Misdee etc.it was just a more intimate and innocent space in a more intimate and innocent time. The Mn secret Santa is perhaps a metaphor (right word?) was great while it lasted then it went tits up - got too big, people got their fingers burned and realised it wasn’t 2004 or whatever.

the DC I posted about as children when we started now send me links to FWR threads! Mn is still beneficial for me just in different ways eg advice on feeding fussy cats not DC. It’s beneficial for my DDs as they love it for advice in their careers and general discussion themselves and love it’s a rare female dominated space.

personally I like seeing “old names” on threads like this as I’m old old enough now to enjoy a bit of nostalgia and rose tinted glasses my brain is a bit more fucked than it was (not bar stool related) so I dont post anywhere near what I used to, but i try and keep with FWR and cats and style and beauty.i just NC a lot more and a more cautious what I give out.

MN is so much bigger than it was yes I feel there are downsides for me personally as you lose that personal touch MN always had, but it’s evolved to keep up with society and so it benefits far more women (inc my DDs) than it did. i see that as a good thing overall.

If it’s the one I went to, it was a Christmas one. Some people went for pizza (was that when the boob-flashing occurred?) and then the main meet-up was in a very dingy underground bar. Hunkermunker was there, FrannyandZooey, Rhubarb, Custardo, StGeorge, Bugsy2, WelshBoris …and Justine was there at one point
