She ordered a Curry and hasn’t paid me

Friend came to my house

I was going to cook but she asked if I fancied a curry. I said that would be really nice actually

Her JustEat app wasn’t working so I said have a look on mine for places that are open. She picked Indian.

I put everything I wanted in and she added hers. Total came to £52ish. Over 65% of that cost was hers.

I said I could just check out and sort it later. I have messaged to ask if she had the money today as a gentle reminder, and she said she thought it was my treat?

I said oh, we must have got crossed wires then. She said ‘I did cover the shop’

She went to the corner shop for wine and snacks. I got a Grape Fanta!

Where do I go from here? Leave it? Was it reasonable for her to assume it was in fact my treat?

Given everything coming from an Indian restaurant is drowned in ghee, butter or oil then not really. I never eat any it it when I'm in a slimdown phase although I enjoy it about once a month during other periods.

No one gives a shit what you eat so why not start your own thread rather than continue to post irrelevant judgemental bollocks that have absolutely nothing to to do the subject beinv discussed

@IlooklikeNigella please re read the last line of my post.

The last sentence of your thread is spot on!

Why are you posting like this? It's really annoying to keep having posters with food issues (whatever they are), bouncing onto a thread and derailing it with finger-wagging.

You have no idea what other people eat or how much so why blether on with your 'normalising obesity' rant? I think that people who do this, unasked for, on a chatboard are lacking people in real life who will pay attention to them.

I run a successful weightloss programme. One of the initial stages is getting participants to realise that the majority of people around them are obese or overweight - if they take society's version of normal they will never reach and maintain a healthy weight.

I naan between 2 people?!

We bought one naan in 2007 and are still sharing a nibble between us with each takeaway and that's plenty.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@IlooklikeNigella do you know how to start a thread?

Go away and do one headed, is this too much food for two people?

Then we can avoid it.

I have had bacillus cereus poisoning and felt so ill. As a result I am very risk averse with rice these days. I keep naan bread in the freezer so would just heat one of those to eat with my leftover curry.

That is unfortunate, must have been quite nasty.

For fried rice it’s recommended to cook the rice then let it go cold before frying it.

You are derailing a thread with your unwanted advice. Is that something that you do in real life too? It doesn't matter what you think about other people's sizes. Unless they ask for your advice it is absolutely none of your business.

I'm sorry to say but your posts are very boring. Probably because they're not relevant to this thread? What you do with that information is up to you but someone cognisant and as successful as you say you are would go and make their own thread or join one of the myriad threads on the weightloss board.

Well that’s there and this is here. You are making too many assumptions about people you’ve never met or seen.

Spaghetti with a tyre

To be honest, OP, if you were going to feed her spaghetti with a tyre, I can understand why she wanted to order out…

SamPoodle123 · 23/03/2025 14:17

Yikes, so cheeky of her.

I read this then went and read another thread but I still want to know more about this. Please explain what you mean! Grin

And who doesn't use cash point machines... she actually has to go into a branch. Her "never mind' would wind me up too. I'd not persist with this friendship.

Yes this is what I thought as well, surely everyone has a cashpoint near then within walking distance

(Totally off topic. Your friend is a CF)

Sorry, off-topic but what is a CF? I see this a lot but can't work out what it is 🙄

BunnyLake · 23/03/2025 14:15

Well that’s there and this is here. You are making too many assumptions about people you’ve never met or seen.

I haven't made any assumptions about posters.

I'm saying it's not normal oor appropriate to order multiple sides. Even if the guest assumed she was being treated she should not have done this. Similarly to how I wouldnt order the most expensive whiskey or steak on the menu if I was being taken out.

But then people started arguing that saying that's a lot of food indicated a teeny tiny eater, food issues, competitive under eating and loads of other bollocks. That is totally normal so long as it's not all the time.

Its utterly bananas to not realise that's a weird order of food, like getting a spare desert or pizza with your three course meal.

I need to know more about 'spaghetti and tyre'... I could definitely add that to my repetoire.

But why did you even feel the need to tell people anything like that? No one asked you?

what isn’t normal, is you being the food police on the internet.

You’re the issue here.

I don't care what anyone eats.

I find it ridiculous that pointing out (and it wasn't me as I already stated it was irrelevant to this thread) that it's a weird and massive order meant the person had food issues, was a teeny tiny eater or whatever. That is bollocks.

BlackStrayCat · 23/03/2025 14:32

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 23/03/2025 13:15

Where did the friend turn down the food? OP didn't say that she'd cooked. Just that friend suggested a takeway. "I was going to cook' isn't "I cooked'.

Definitely a CF and should pay half.
I am also thinking, she had to go and get her own wine/the drinks!?(I would have had wine/soft drinks and nuts/crisps out) even if I was not drinking.
Nothing seems to have been prepared.

Was she irritated maybe?
Thought, ok lets just get a curry. She said "x lives near you" had she gone out of her way to see you?
Who kept leftovers?

It depends on what happened. It sounds a bit unprepared tbh.
But I voted YANBU.

Honestly, I can’t believe you are still saying I don’t care what anyone eats whilst still saying it’s not normal, it’s ridiculous, it’s a massive amount, blah blah!

MYOB!
