To think this photo is not appropriate to advertise a dress?

Is it just my raging feminist thoughts with this photo that is being used as one of the pictures of a dress offered for sale on a high street store website. Is this appropriate? I don't think it is but one might say that that is my weird view and actually it is a perfectly okay pic? (!)
I think it looks like a 'come fuck me' picture and that is not okay?!

People seem to be putting their hands over or on or at their crotch in photos nowadays. Even political photos. The world needs a wee.

Gettingbysomehow · 21/03/2025 19:26

All these models have such gigantic feet. That's all I can think of when I look at these pics.

AInightingale · 21/03/2025 19:27

Is that even a woman? (like, the real kind).

Evaka · 21/03/2025 19:27

That's how I generally sit because I couldn't be fucked crossing my legs to be ladylike. A woman sitting with legs open is only sexual if you make it so.

pinkyredrose · 21/03/2025 19:27

Failing to see a problem with the pic.

Tagyoureit · 21/03/2025 19:28

That photo is not screaming "come fuck me" at all.

"I'm fucking knackered", maybe

Ddakji · 21/03/2025 19:28

I’m pretty rad fem and all I think about that picture is that it’s pretty ugly and does nothing for either dress or model.

nonevernotever · 21/03/2025 19:28

Love the fact that if you click on the m and s link posted above it tells you that the dress is popular and that 48 other people are looking at it now 🤣. My money is on all 49 of us being Mumsnetters

TitsInAbsentia · 21/03/2025 19:28

I def don't see a fm pose but am constantly wtf at the poses of models for clothes do now...and I realise it's only them following directions but jeez...so unflattering and also don't show the clothes in a practical light at all.

Moonlightdust · 21/03/2025 19:28

Awful angle and as others have said it looks more like she is sitting on the toilet 😆

hereismydog · 21/03/2025 19:30

You’re absolutely right.

I find terrible posture and enormous feet irresistible.

Lilifer · 21/03/2025 19:30

It looks like a trans women, and that's how a man would sit

TheGoodEnoughWife · 21/03/2025 19:31

I did say it might just be me! Good point about her looking like she is on the toilet.

I just felt the picture was off in some way. I still do. I think I would prefer to look at a picture of the dress taken in the way I might be in actual life and I don't think I ever sit like this (unless maybe having a wee!)

What's wrong with big feet though? I'm finding the comments about how big her feet are really uncomfortable. I have size 8s and for most of my teenage life really struggled with the 'stigma' of having big feet, as though this was something I chose to have. Would you be so quick to comment on the size of their nose? Or their ears? It's very judgemental 😞

JoyousEagle · 21/03/2025 19:32

I don’t think it’s inappropriate. But I hate websites that show their clothes with ridiculous poses where you can’t actually see them properly. Show it from the front, and from the back, on a woman standing normally.

Lilifer · 21/03/2025 19:33

It's a man in the photo

Styleislost · 21/03/2025 19:33

It seems, you believe a woman who doesn’t sit with her knees together is automatically saying ‘come fuck me’? I don’t believe that’s a feminist stance to be honest

The picture is shit. Doesn’t show off the dress at all. But no, it’s a not a ‘come fuck me’ photo at all.

AgnesX · 21/03/2025 19:33

Not remotely come fuck me. Not a very attractive pose/picture and does buggerall for the garment (but then what do I know about fashion).

Ladamesansmerci · 21/03/2025 19:33

Just because a woman isn't sat perfectly poised with her legs crossed, it doesn't mean she wants sex. I think the angle is weird, but I suspect they're just trying to show off her legs in the dress or something.

Riversof0tter5 · 21/03/2025 19:34

I am having unfeminist thoughts about the dress not being ironed

But why do you think she’s inviting someone to fuck her? Because her legs are apart?

cloudbusting123 · 21/03/2025 19:34

I would say she’s in a typically male pose, she looks like she’s mansoreading I would argue it was feminist advertising.

Arcticrival · 21/03/2025 19:34

Jeez go and look at the wonderbra ads in the 90s. Hello boys. That's 'come fuck me' .

This looks like a woman with big feet on the loo

Qmalrg · 21/03/2025 19:34

Weird photo. Don’t understand today’s world.

TinyKittenPaw · 21/03/2025 19:34

MemorableTrenchcoat · 21/03/2025 18:51

Come fuck me? That awkward, unflattering pose does not strike me as particularly alluring.

Or the dress itself!
