To think this photo is not appropriate to advertise a dress?

Is it just my raging feminist thoughts with this photo that is being used as one of the pictures of a dress offered for sale on a high street store website. Is this appropriate? I don't think it is but one might say that that is my weird view and actually it is a perfectly okay pic? (!)
I think it looks like a 'come fuck me' picture and that is not okay?!

OP posts:
Ruggerlass · 21/03/2025 18:59

Can’t see anything inappropriate myself.

manysausages · 21/03/2025 18:59

Is this M&S by any chance? I looked on their website the other day and the photo angles are just bizarre. Have no idea what the clothes might look like on.

Twatterati · 21/03/2025 19:01

Doesn’t look remotely sexual to me either. She looks quite relaxed, it’s a nice dress, the angle makes the shoes look MASSIVE (daren’t say her feet!). Can’t see an issue.

MissMoneyFairy · 21/03/2025 18:51

Her enormous feet are the first thing I noticed

What about her knees?

PieCorner · 21/03/2025 19:02

Can’t see anything wrong with this. It’s not flattering, sure, but it’s not a “fuck me” picture.

Doingmybestbut · 21/03/2025 19:03

It’s a weird angle.

GivingOhio · 21/03/2025 19:03

Where’s it from, please? I’ve been looking for a long-sleeved denim dress!

YouveGotAFastCar · 21/03/2025 19:04

BendyLikeBeckham · 21/03/2025 18:58

I'm with you OP. It's trying to look raunchy which is ridiculously objectifying in this context, but somehow manages to look like 'depressed Emo lady on toilet with GIANT LEGS'

Raunchy?!

I am not getting raunchy from this photo at all.

FabuIous · 21/03/2025 19:05

It’s this. The other photos show it more clearly.

MidnightMillie · 21/03/2025 19:05

It makes her legs and feet look freakishly large but it's not inappropriate at all.

myplace · 21/03/2025 19:06

It’s because it looks like she’s put his shirt on for breakfast after a night shagging, OP.

Less come hither and more shagged out.

JustSawJohnny · 21/03/2025 19:09

Christ, OP.

She looks like she's knackered and has a spinal issue.

How anyone could see 'come fuck me' in that is bonkers.

Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon · 21/03/2025 19:11

I don’t think you could get more opposite of ‘come fuck me’.

Nice shoes, shit dress.

BendyLikeBeckham · 21/03/2025 19:14

YouveGotAFastCar · 21/03/2025 19:04

Raunchy?!

I am not getting raunchy from this photo at all.

Me neither! It looks like it was trying for that but failed.

IDontHateRainbows · 21/03/2025 19:17

You are not giving feminists a good name

MistyGray · 21/03/2025 19:20

MissMoneyFairy · 21/03/2025 18:51

Her enormous feet are the first thing I noticed

Wow. Anyone with big feet will be feeling great!

WinterBones · 21/03/2025 19:21

Raunchy? are we seeing the same picture?

There is nothing remotely 'come fuck me' about that picture. It does nothing for the model, or the dress..the lighting and composition are dreadful.

ElleintheWoods · 21/03/2025 19:22

Hmmmm. That’s absolutely not what I see on this picture. It’s a woman sitting in a slouchy ‘I don’t give a fuck’ pose wearing a comfy dress. Kinda worried what you’d say about the way I sit at home while typing this comment 🙈

HOWEVER. Most advertising actually features women deliberately in a ‘come fuck me’ positioning. Check out some perfume ads for example. Having worked in advertising for a long time, this is actually a phrase often used on shoots, or when choosing the perfect shot of the female protagonist. I have learned the art of conveying that sentiment with my eyes and smile at the camera.

So there’s definitely a tree to bark up, but I really don’t think this is the tree!

Wow. Anyone with big feet will be feeling great!

Not many people have feet 3x the length of their head!

Tickyandtackyandjackiethebackie · 21/03/2025 19:22

Not as bad as the Shein adverts for kids clothes that keep popping up on my fbook timeline!

TeaRoseTallulah · 21/03/2025 19:23

Really?

It's just an odd camera angle, how anyone gets raunchy I have no idea!

JoshLymanSwagger · 21/03/2025 19:23

It looks like she's wearing shorts and a top - pjs maybe?

That does not look like a dress.

She also seems to have massive feet and tiny hands.Grin

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 21/03/2025 19:24

It’s not remotely sexual or alluring (quite the opposite) but it does nothing to sell the dress.

ComfortingSounds · 21/03/2025 19:24

You need to put those pearls down. That's not at all sexually provocative. And even if it is, is it to the extent it has gone so far that it's inappropriate for adult women to look at? Noooo! 😂

TheBunnyLover · 21/03/2025 19:24

Chellybelle · 21/03/2025 18:54

It doesn't look sexual in the slightest to me. A woman sitting with her legs slightly open doesn't mean they want sex, you know. I actually find you anti feminist to assume that.

I think I agree with this.

Also It's a very 'man' pose stereotypically-I'd say It's getting away from stereotypes if anything.
