To ask which current singers have the voices to match Elton John, George Michael & Freddie Mercury?

Random playlist last night, Elton John & George Michael - Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me from 1991. The duet is amazing, the power in their voices. Got to add Freddie in the same (or better) category of voice, obviously. Asked my partner who today has the voice that will still make you say wow! in 30 years time? He said the music industry has changed, the ‘stars’ go through too fast now. I can recognise the talent of Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran and others, but where are those really powerful voices?

YABU - listen to …..
YANBU - no one can match them!

Mason Ramsey (the kid who was yodelling in a Walmart years ago) beautiful voice, very Roy Orbison. o

Sturgill Simpson (his cover of The Promise gets me EVERY time, especially the last chorus 😭).

Matt Berninger from The National has the most beautiful resonant quality.

Not quite as relevant as he once was, but I think Ray Lamontagne has a fabulous voice.

The kind of music you’re talking about is a bit dated now so those kinds of voices are less popular. All the really strong male voices I’ve heard recently have been in musical theater.

Had to read that three times to work out what you meant. And I think that is:

"if somebody can't sing in tune OR keep in time or takes great gulping gasps of air then in my book they're not a singer."

Yes that's what I meant. Sorry if it was difficult to understand. I thought it conveyed my view.

Not sure how to answer your question OP but I'm ready to fight the posters who are suggesting George Michael wasn't a great singer- he's the finest voice this country has ever produced, for my money.

Just for anyone that wants to check out Yungblud he did an epic performance on Jonathan Ross on Friday (28th March).
